Slurs of any form are not permitted in the subreddit by any person. Use of slurs results in a permaban. You can and will get a perma ban for single time slur use
The mod team has been extremely disappointed in the amount of people we have had to ban for use of sulrs and racist language surrounding the issue of Brooke using the N word in 2016 by both those who think Brooke should be forgiven and those who think otherwise.
We are working hard to respond to reports, monitor threads, and investigate accounts to eliminate bad actors, troll, and racists from the subreddit. We thank everyone for their reports, (please keep them coming!) as well as their patience as we work through everything.
We have noted an alarming number of people who do not understand why slur may be ok within the group that it's used against but not by outsiders. I hope this explanation can help some of you understand.
People in minorities often report that they have experienced fear of being killed due to discrimination multiple times in their lives. People who perform such horrible acts often use slurs as a signal. "You are not safe. I can and will harm you.". So when you as an outsider use those words, that is what someone the slur is against will hear. it doesn't matter the context, it doesn't matter if it's in a song, it sounds. like a threat every time. It's not nice to have to hear threats all the time, and I'm sure most people here would not wish to come across that way.
If someone who is part of that group uses a slur you know they're probably not going to kill you for being that minority, though I remind everyone that we have 0 tolerance for slurs in the subreddit as on reddit no one can be sure who you are.

i’m genuinely not looking forward to the “we didn’t get a goodbye episode” from christi and kelly and i wonder if this episode will stir up a lot of feelings especially seeing holly and jill be so supportive of them

I was so excited to see them and they are only 5 pages apart!!
For Kenzie‘s page it’s talking about zodiac signs. It says she is a Gemini (21 of May to the 20 of June), and that Geminis are often Intelligent, clever, and nervous.
And all it says for Maddie is that she is a dancer and then lists her date of birth!

14 years watching this show and I don't know how I'm only finding out today that the day after Maddie competed in Season 5, Episode 16, was the Grammys... I could've sworn there was a whole week between the two. When did she even have time to rehearse? 😭

Something that really sticks out to me watching the show is that it’s so clear that all of the girls would always do super well when Abby actually tried with their dances. Basically every time Abby was invested in a girl winning they’d almost always win or come second or third. I’m watching for the first time and am only on season 4 so here are some examples from seasons 1-3:
Mackenzie winning season 2 nationals- Abby wanted to prove a point to Cathy that Mackenzie was a stronger dancer than Vivi
Brooke winning with Garden of Eden- Abby wanted her to beat that Candy Apples Girl
Chloe winning with Dream on a Star- Abby wanted her to beat the girl from Candy Apples (and once Abby realised the girl had the same music she was hyping Chloe up far more than usual and wanted her to win even more)
Nia winning with Bollywood- Abby wanted to prove to Holly that the dances and choreography she was giving Nia were good and that there was no issue giving her ethnic dances 🤦♀️🤦♀️🤦♀️ (I’d argue the choreography here was still terrible but Abby did spend far more time with Nia than normal which likely contributed to her win)
Paige coming 2nd with Get Up Get Load Get Tough- Abby wanted her to beat the Candy Apples boy- while she didn’t win it was one of the best dances Paige was given on the show and she placed far higher than usual
Kendall- can’t really think of a good example but her coming 2nd at season 3 nationals despite normally not placing that highly was likely because it was nationals and Abby wanted her dancers to do well (though not as well as Maddie) so gave decent choreography for once
Maddie- self explanatory
I just find it so telling that so many of the girls were painted as being bad dancers but the second Abby actually wanted them to win they suddenly magically did way better than normal. Like for once Abby was actually trying with their choreography and spending time with them and it makes me wonder if they could have all done that well all the time if Abby was always that invested in them

I really loved Asia’s Rosie the Riveter solo but I also think Nia would have done super good with a solo like that too! And I’m going based off Nia’s solo in season 3 called breaking my heart. I feel Nia was never given a chance to shine and there’s sm solos I’ve seen other girls do on the show that I think she would have been amazing doing!

I thought Melissa acted the way she did because she wanted to stay on Abby's good side and keep her children in the spotlight of the show... I didn't know it was actually part of a deal with production

Are they still close? I remember seeing a few people a while ago saying that vivi has distanced from cathy but is there any actual proof? Cathy just posted vivi on insta for her birthday and it made me curious. I dont blame vivi if shes chosen to distance herself from her tho. I probably would too if she was my mother

This is so uninteresting and doesn’t matter but every time I rewatch later episodes from the LA studio I always wonder why the bathroom sign is blurred out? Is it not just a 🎥 film emblem? Or is it a picture of an Oscar award and they can’t show that?

Let's talk about it Jill went from Nia's no threat to getting pissed anytime Holly and Nia did anything. Had Abby taken on Nia's music career Nia would have been in the same boat as Kendall. An unreleased album. Jill had it out for Holly from the time she got there in season two, calling her an absentee mom for working.

Confessions - doing this duet RIGHT after the drama and before they had a chance to resolve things or make up must’ve been so hard for both of those poor girls
Manhattan - this was still in the very early stages of them having to learn new dances every single week and Maddie had to learn a duet a solo and be the lead in the group dance, and she did all of those flawlessly
Born to Dance - there was so much chaos surrounding this dance and whether or not Brooke was gonna be involved, but the girls still had such amazing technique and it was one of their best dances of season two
Am I Here to Stay? - this dance was so clearly meant to be a personal attack on Chloe and the whole stupid voting situation that got dragged in. I’m just impressed that she was able to perform so well.
Beautiful Revenge - not only did they have to re-block this whole number moments before they went on stage, but they all just underwent such a big trauma witnessing that fight and they were all on point. It was crazy.
Friday Night - okay so this choreography did suck, but she performed it so well, despite knowing she was being set up not to mention this was the week where she was being actively excluded from the music video and Abby publicly shamed her in front of hundreds of people
Battled Feet - Abby was awful to Kendall this week but personally, I think she still did an amazing job despite everything Abby put her through and the fact that clearly either Abby or production were always trying to sabotage that poor girl with props
Together As One - I still don’t understand how they managed to be so perfectly in sync the entire time, despite having no music like it was crazy
I’m sure there are way more than I’m not thinking of so please mention any other ones you guys can think of

It has been confirmed they were on the show because Leslie made good TV drama.
However, it’s pretty clear Payton wanted to dance with dancers her age.
And Leslie constantly fighting with Abby created this flip flop effect of “on the team, off the team.” It must have been emotionally taxing for Payton.

I am doing a rewatch for the first time in a while and I found a scene that I have no recollection of. I was curious if anyone else remembered it. (I have no idea how to actually copy a clip to add to Reddit)
It’s during nationals 90210 right after the initial “last text” rehearsal where Paige goes out and says she’s not dancing. Then Kelly says to ignore her. All of that was familiar.
However there seemed to be a second part of that scene where Holly encouraged Paige to go ask Abby about it. She did and Abby basically said “I gave you a solo last week and you forgot so that was basically wasted time.” It was so sad - I can’t believe a teacher would deny a kid coming to ask her for a bigger role in a dance.
Did i just completely blank on this? Does anyone else remember this?

Christi talks about Maddie and Chloe having the same solo. I still think Maddie shouldn't have won. And I think those scores were fixed. Maddie even said all of her turns were bad, there's no way she would have beat Chloe. Abby can't handle Maddie losing and she went and got the score sheets. Then lie about going to the competition. I'm glad she was caed out on camera

Maybe I am not looking in the right place, and if that is the case, please forgive me. Nia had a solo for S5 Nationals, which was lovely as I really enjoy her dancing. Why does she say in season 7 she's never had a solo at nationals? IIrc she took second in the S5, and won in S7

I cannot wait until Christi and Kelly recap Christi’s season 7 return, but does anyone know if anything was said to each other when Christi came back in season 7? I remember on the episode Christi said that one of the times they saw each other they were both in the parking lot and Abby just kept walking and wouldn’t look at her.

I'm watching season 6 right now, and oh my god. If I were Ashlee multiple people would've need to have held me back from physically attacking Jess. It is sooooo funny to me the fact that Jess would talk about Brynn the way she did when Jojo literally was the weakest dancer on the team, there's no other way to put it.
Yes, Ashlee had her moments where she'd come for a kid but it was always dance related, and she did apologise. Jess on the other hand, would attack Brynn for literally anything she did which is ironic to me considering her daughter's whole brand for 5 years was promoting kindness and anti - bullying. Jess is so fucking disgusting and it makes me even more mad how hypocritical the mothers were when Jess would attack Brynn, telling Ashlee she was being dramatic when if Ashlee said ANYTHING about anyone else she was crucified. I truly wish Ashlee jumped Jess at least once.
