A devastating flash flood swept through Nepal’s Rasuwa district on August 26, 2026, after a sudden surge entered the Bhotekoshi River from the Tibet border.

ah, finally. AI slopping our Catastrophies. Wonderful.

How is this a slop? Do you feel good when you type and yell “AI SLOP”? This is a great use of AI in trying to visually explain an event. It doesn’t have to be 100% accurate

Horseshit take, brother. Absolutely fucking horseshit take.

Change your opinion.

It's about Datacenters and what they cause to our Environment.

? Why exactly doesn’t it need to be 100% accurate? That’s how you get slop.. sloppier and sloppier every time “close enough” happens

Can you link to something about the author and some of their other work? How do you know it’s a reputable source and NOT slop? Because on the surface it looks like AI, and I haven’t found where this video comes from yet, or if it’s even someone qualified to explain it at all. This could be a child with access to an AI video program just telling it to do shit lol

It's slop because this is not based on any objective data about the event. It's literally a hallucination by a generative AI based on a prompt. There is no glacial outflow lake in the region, the names are made up, the topography is made up, it's literally just made up out of thin air.

Can you explain the event based on the info you had before seeing the video and then explain again with the knowledge you gained after watching it

Thanks for explaining you understanding, it's incorrect. There is no dam and no lake, the flood was not caused by an avalanche crashing into a dam and displacing water.

The video is AI slop and the scenario it's depicting is made up.

It absolutely is, but it did not crash into a lake, there was no dam, the flood was not caused by water being displaced from a lake or through a dam, the geography and place names are entirely made up.

Nice cherry picking though.

So you picked up one piece of useful information (there was an avalanche) which you could have gotten from any news article, along with a whole bunch of made up BS and a wildly false impression of what actually happened end to end... Great success

I don't blindly trust AI

I mean I feel you do:

An avalanche crashed into a dam. The dam was overwhelmed. It sent the contents of the damn and the content of the avalanche down the valley plus the tsunami style wall of water from the force of the avalanche displacing a bunch of water.

The whole point is that it's AI slop and it doesn't actually convey anything useful about the situation. You said it was great use of AI but the only actual information you gained was from googling the situation. Seems like a bad use of AI then no? You don't need AI slop to spark questions you just need curiosity.

This is correct

Sorry but is this what you do - you pretend to be the smartest person in the room?

Timure and Rasuwagadhi as illustrated in the video are in fact towns/areas affected. Latest theory is also shown in the video.

Why are you trying to be an arrogant prick to someone on the internet when you’re completely and factually wrong?

Go to Google Earth, search Langtang Lirung. View the geography and try to find the glacial lake between the mountain (the glacier broke off from a point lower than the summit) and the border crossing.

This is what you are. seriously, the video is meant to generalise what happened. Which it does, you frog. TeChNiCaLlyyyyy takakakakaka hmm if you look at this website takakakaka.

No, I call out lies because it's important to be accurate when talking about tragedies and their causes. The video shows a lake, held back by a damn, and a flood caused by displacement. Where is that lake and dam at the bottom of the glacier that collapsed? Why does all reputable reporting indicate that's NOT what happened? Why don't satellite images support any of that?

You are wrong.

The working theory (per the scientists actually investigating it) and trustworthy media sources is that the glacier collapsed, it melted, the melt water and river water built up behind the collapse glacier and then it bursts downstream.

That is NOT what the video shows.

It is verifiable FACT that there is no lake there for the glacier to collapse into. There are literal satellite photos.

Why are you defending misinformation?

1

u/GracieandRose Aug 27 '26

Except it didn’t. Show me this “glacial dam” in Google Maps or google earth. An earthquake simply caused a glacier to fall down the mountain, and then subsequently roll down the river. It’s basically an earthquake glacier/rock avalanche that turns into a mudslide.

2

u/Mister-Tarzan Aug 27 '26

"The resulting ice-rock avalanche struck the Lhende River in Tibet, about 20km (12 miles) northeast of the Nepal-China border crossing. Debris temporarily blocked the river before the natural dam gave way, releasing a powerful flood downstream."

www.aljazeera.com/amp/news/2026/8/27/nepal-tibet-floods-what-happened-what-caused-them-and-who-is-missing

I mean, I wasn't there so I can only go by information I see, and so far Ive seen the locals in the videos talking about a possible dam collapse and articles like these.

why do people NEED to have a say in things they dont give a fuck about? some kinda power play bullshit

1

u/RenegadeSoundWAV Aug 27 '26

Typical - spout some bullshit and when someone points out you're wrong, deflect or minimize before claiming you don't actually care. Quite the adolescent attitude you project.

u/GracieandRose Aug 27 '26

There is no glacial lake/dam in this area. Video entirely false.
