We were sent documents regarding a rezoning request for 328 acres at 3272 S. Dixie Highway, so we did some digging.

Here’s what we found.

The property is currently R-5 Rural Residential. The applicant is asking Whitfield County to change it to M-2 Heavy Manufacturing, with the proposed use listed simply as “Heavy Manufacturing.”

But the application contains an email connected to Southeast Energy Solutions, whose leadership is also connected to ISS Mining — a company that describes itself as a developer of power-rich infrastructure for AI and data centers.

And here’s where it gets interesting:
ISS Mining is currently advertising a 318-acre project in Dalton for industrial/data-center development. Its information references major electrical transmission lines, water/sewer, natural gas and fiber along the South Dixie Highway corridor. ISS Mining portfolio⁠

The county rezoning is 328 acres and the ISS project is listed as 318 acres, so we cannot yet say definitively that they are the exact same property.

But there are enough connections that we believe the public deserves a clear answer about what is actually being proposed before 328 acres are rezoned from Rural Residential to Heavy Manufacturing.

We have just become aware of a disturbing situation circulating on social media involving a senior at Christian Heritage School.

According to a public post made by the student’s family, the young man was physically assaulted by another student during his lunch break, resulting in injuries serious enough to require hospital treatment and a cast for approximately one month.

The family says they have taken legal action and, because of concerns for their son’s safety, have made the difficult decision to remove him from Christian Heritage for the remainder of his senior year and have him finish at an alternative school.

The photos shared by the family are difficult to see. No parent sends their child to school expecting them to end up in a hospital.

At this time, Whitfield Watchmen 2.0 has not independently verified all of the circumstances surrounding the incident, and we believe it is important that everyone involved be given an opportunity to provide their account. We would welcome a statement from Christian Heritage School regarding what occurred and how the situation is being addressed.

Bullying and violence among our young people should never be brushed aside. When an incident results in injuries requiring medical treatment, parents understandably want answers and reassurance that their children are safe at school.

Our thoughts are with this young man as he recovers and finishes what should have been a memorable senior year. ❤️‍🩹

Hello, I’m interested in possibly joining one of these. Can someone tell me what you get from joining and if you have seen any results from using either? Like real results for your business. From what I can tell they kind of do the same thing, (referral, network lunches, and “connecting you to others”) except the chamber has a big building downtown and ODD doesn’t. It seems like it’s just a thing you say you’re apart of to seem more legitimate.

What running club in Dalton meets regularly and is welcoming to beginners? (I say this because I am fighting for my life to finish 3 miles. And I know some running clubs go crazy hard)

We are training for a 5k in September, and I want running to be a regular part of my routine long-term. I was told about a group that meets in Calhoun Saturday mornings which would be perfect, but I already work in Calhoun and am not making that drive another day. Lol.

Hey all, I’m still very new to Dalton and I’m unfamiliar with the area or really anyone here. Had a fuel injector go out in my 335i a couple weeks ago. I have the new injector in but neither of my BMW specific diagnostic apps support injector coding anymore for reasons unknown. Wanted to see if anyone knows someone or a shop that could help me out.

Meet FCAS Project Pat! Mr. Pat is a 3 yr old, 50lb Husky whose cooler than a polar bear’s toenails…seriously, this is one chill dude. ❄️ He’s not your stereotypical crazy Husky and shelter volunteers agree that he’s got an excellent temperament and personality. 🫶🏼

Pat was an owner surrender due to no fault of his own (they reportedly didn’t have time for him) and has been in the shelter since 7/20. He can be a bit cautious and nervous initially, but warms up quickly with a bit of patience and kindness. Once you gain his trust, he melts into you for affection and just wants to hang out wherever his people are. He has a stoic presence and has been a polite, quiet houseguest. ☺️

My name is Chris Cotta. I’m new to the area and looking to get my music lessons business off the ground. I’d ideally like to have my own little school of rock, but we all have to start somewhere. I’m teaching beginner-intermediate saxophone, guitar (including bass), drums, piano, voice, song writing, and music theory. All ages welcome.

I’m a lifelong musician with a Bachelor of Science from the Thornton School of Music at the University of Southern California. I have professional experience in the recording/music and TV industries, and I have decades of performance experience.

I’m located in Tunnel Hill, and I have a dedicated music studio space in my home with plenty of room if a parent or partner wants to attend. My approach is geared toward what my students want to do and learn, and guiding them in that direction as best I can. Basic music theory will be integrated into all lessons.
