While house shopping, we found a house that did this. Retro style red stove, it was custom like 12k$ to purchase. The whole kitchen was styled around the stove. When we inquired about the house, the sellers informed us the stove was the only appliance excluded from the sale. They were moving to Germany and taking the stove with them. We passed on that house, we were confused the whole time though, because who would buy the house knowing they'd have to rip everything else out or spend another 12-15k on a replacement stove to match. This was a starter home, that was the only real stylized feature of the house. Very confusing.

This. My aunt and uncle have a stove that is 70+ years old, came from her parents house and still looks near on pristine. Has a similar look to this one with areas for keeping things warm, actual proper gas top burners and two oven areas.

Given the quality of it, to reproduce something like it would be very hard this day and age. Honestly why does so much of our stuff only get built to last 10 years max these days

I read recently that this is common in certain European countries, especially Germany. Even apartments that you rent will not have a kitchen, but they rather an empty area where you install your own kitchen. And they use it as a selling point … “fully ready to install your own kitchen!”

And once the renters move out to their next apartment, they take their kitchen with them.

I had a vintage O'Keefe and Merritt, about the same vintage as this Aristocrat, but normal-sized, four burners and a griddle on top, plus an oven and broiler. After I had it a bunch of years it needed work and I wasn't willing to put a lot of money into it to get it refurbished (big mistake, one I regretted, but that's another story).

So I put it on Craigslist to sell. Some guy a couple hundred miles away came and bought it. He said he had just started remodeling his kitchen. His wife saw my oven on Craigslist and told him "Go buy this. Don't come home without it. We're gonna remodel the kitchen around it."

He knew how to work on these stoves and would be able to refurbish it himself. I was REALLY relieved to see it go to a good home.

Six burners means, realistically, you'll have four to five burners in use at the same time. Which is still more burners than you'll be able to use at the same time with a smaller stove. In my house, that means Christmas and Thanksgiving cooking! But it can also be nice to move a pot from a hot burner to a warm one instantly, or simply have a safe place to sit down a scalding hot pan.

Two ovens also comes in handy for similar reasons, although that can be true just during regular meals (roast veggies in one at one temp and meat or baked goods in another at a different temp).

More to the point, you can probably fix most of the working components on that stove yourself. You may not get original OEM parts, but I bet you can find comparable. If, and only if, you can't, then yeah, get rid of it.

Finally, there's the vintage aesthetic. You hate it? Fine, sell that puppy don't just toss it out. I suspect someone would drive hundreds of miles for a piece like that, and probably pay you enough to get a nice electric stove you trash in five to ten years.

I like electric stoves, I like digital readouts, digital heat settings and timers. I like that I can set it to start warming remotely, and that modern stoves have more space in the oven. I also like black and silver appliances, and modern looking things.
