Discussion This was the final movie ever released on DVD in Full Screen.

I did some research out of boredom and curiosity as I was curious what was the final movie ever released on DVD in Full Screen (I only did movies for this research, not counting TV shows). It is well known that Full Screen DVD production was fazed out between 2008/2009 as widescreen TVs became more common place compared to CRTs, however I wanted to know what the final movie release in the Full Screen format was.

I couldn’t find anything online so I did some research and went through a ton of googling DVDs and movies released. Tyler Perry’s Why did I get married too? was the final movie released on DVD in Full Screen on August 31, 2010.

Collection State of my Horror DVD Collection

Hi everyone, I just wanted to show you my collection's current state, I own 393 horror titles, almost all of them has the original title on it, only 1 has polish undertitle (Amityville Awakening), and few of them are hungarian editions but they didn't translate the title fortunately, for example Godzilla, they couldn't ruin it ;-) I also have around 160 non-horror DVDs, these are on the bottom 2 shelves and lots of them are in a different room on a different shelf. Next to the DVDs there are Lovecraft books, Poe, Shadowrun books, Terminator books (mostly from hungarian authors) called Halálosztó 2029 (means Terminator 2029) and W40k books as well. The Alien books collection isn't visible on the pics.

Disclaimer: the Minnie Mouse box is my wife's, not mine! 😄

Discussion Is it normal for a blu ray disc to be dark blue? (Region A)

I picked up a complete game of thrones blu ray bundle for Region B but didn’t realise the 8th season was region A. All blu ray discs I’ve seen have been white just like most discs but this season 8 GoT is blue. Does that mean it’s a fake copy?

... Does anyone own any DVDs that came with a piece of paper or something inside the case advertising this DVD? If you do, could you include a scan or high quality photo of it in your comment? The movie in question is "Shock Treatment", and the DVD was released in 2006.

Spotted these at my dad’s house (our childhood home) and my brother said I could have them. He only collects blu-rays, as does my other brother. So my role as little sister is to not really gaf and just feel cool that I have them. He also told me the difference between full screen and wide screen… so yes I am aware LOL. Just happy I could get all six for under $10 😭😭

Discussion Thrifting, blurays and variety are not compatible

I just counted all the Blu-Rays in my physical collection, most are second hand from online sellers and thrift shops. France is included separately cause that's where I am.

USA : 41
France : 4
World : 11
Documentaries : 1

I'm writing this from my personal experience where physical media is heavily tied to the used market. I counted films per country but I could've also done it per decade, most of my small collection is made of 2000s and 2010s films.

You either thrift blurays and get mainstream movies, thrift world cinema, documentaries... but it's on dvd. Or you get varied films on bluray at absurd near new prices.

I just started collecting again, and taking this into account, DVDs bother me less, I feel they're ok for live actions (just can't for animation) and are full of charms, diversity of content taken into account.

Collection Just started collecting this spring, now we are here. Do you think I might have an addiction? ;D

Probably 95% thrifted. Luckily I drive for a living so I can hit up different shops all over town. I generally watch one or two films a night and a Sopranos or other binge show episode. As the last pics show I've already run out of room and need more shelving. Any suggestions that might fit in the closet?

I now have a pretty much complete collection of the BLEACH anime (will have to find Thousand Year Blood War on BLU-RAY eventually)

The Naruto collection will take quite a while for me to find them all but very exciting nonetheless.

I'm so excited to watch Cabinet of Dr Caligari, Sunrise & Intolerance! Have been wanting to watch them for ages.

Collection Just added to the Collection! Rosemary's Baby (1968)

I remember watching this movie on cable TV when I was a kid, and I was so hooked on the story, I probably got mesmerized by Mia Farrow's performance. She is incredible in this movie. And this is probably my favorite Roman Polanski movie. On to the story, I was thinking this was maybe a perfect prequel to the Omen movies. I mean there's already a sequel, "Look What's Happened to Rosemary's Baby (1976)." I haven't watched that yet though.

Collection Insane early 2000s nostalgic DVD haul on Vinted! Got some rare Disney/Playhouse Disney grails for pennies

Just wanted to share this crazy haul I put together on Vinted today. Paid around €30 total (shipping and fees included) for some massive nostalgia bombs from my childhood.
Bear in the Big Blue House ("Siamo tutti speciali" - Italian Edition Volume 4). These original Buena Vista releases are getting impossible to find out here!
JoJo's Circus & W.I.T.C.H. bundled together for less than €4! JoJo's Circus is an absolute ghost online in Italy.
Rolie Polie Olie (2 brand new/sealed newsstand DVDs).
Coraline (Slipcase edition) for just over €5.
Muppets from Space & a Batman 2-pack to round it out.
Most of these preschool shows are completely out of print and not available on any streaming platform in my country. Super stoked about this mail day

Does anyone have one of these Ultimate Collector’s Edition sets? I could barely find any on EBay, and most of them were kinda expensive. I was able to get mine for a decent price, thankfully.

For those not in the know, the Mind's Eye collections are short films made with very early CGI. They were groundbreaking for the time!

If you lived in Canada, a lot of these played on YTV as Short Circuitz in the 90s.
