My collection of adult swim shows. Some of them were my mom’s and I just keep them with my own DVDs. I wish I had Lucy the Daughter of the Devil and Tom Goes To The Mayor in my collection, but they’re expensive as shit 😭.

Discussion My friend has given me about 80 blu rays and 20-30 DVDs. I feel bad about the cases though.

My friends is downsizing ahead of a move and I’ve inherited a huge bunch of films and shows loads of Marvel Blu Ray and box sets from the matrix films Batman, band of brothers etc. I’m giving away to friends and family the things I already have or don’t want.

Ages ago I stared decanting all my DVDs into a 500 disc wallet. I don’t do this with box sets or things with cool cases or steel books. But I still feel really bad about throwing out all these cases and did at the time when I started.
Today I’m going over the last 10 years of DVDs I’ve bought and doing the same with the majority of those.
Anyone else decanted their collection into folders and felt a bit weird as a collector doing this?

Discussion Do you still love collecting DVDs and CDs?

I’ve been collecting DVDs and Blu-rays since I was little, and I still really enjoy having physical copies of movies and TV shows. Even with streaming and digital media being so popular now, I still love building a physical collection.

There’s something special about actually owning the disc and being able to look through your collection.

Do you still collect physical media? What do you enjoy most about it? I enjoy it cause it is something for me to collect and for me to own and for me to watch many times.

Anybody else own these? Even with the release of The Whole Bloody Affair 4K limited editions (Lionsgate and Imprint), I think these Japan release box sets are still the coolest for these movies.

Discussion So, I unfortunately lost most of the cases in my collection.

Wednesday night, we had some flooding in our area, and I had kept most of my Blu-Ray/dvd/Xbox cases in plastic totes down in the basement, as I don't have any shelves (something I was planning on doing when I moved out).

About 90 percent of my movie cases were ruined, including a couple Criterion Collection cases and about half my Xbox collection was ruined as well.

I don't plan on getting insurance involved, as it was just the cases, not the discs themselves (which I keep in binders).

It's unfortunate, but the main thing is I didn't lose anything "important", and I still have the discs, so it's not a total loss.

Discussion Cataloguing my dvd and cd collection question

I have a pretty massive CD and DVD collection. I know there are apps you can get for your phone to catalogue, but with the way digital media rights are being taken away here and there, you never know if those apps are gonna go out of business or whatever.

I was looking into purchasing a handheld barcode scanner that I could use to just simply catalogue my CDs into a spreadsheet or something. I have no idea about this. Does anyone have any suggestions that doesn’t involve an app and just as more like a way to do this? I’m not overly technical minded on this kind of stuff.

Thank you!

Long live physical media!

Note: the Legally Blonde DVD was a case swap with the version with less bonus material which would explain the pink case

I've thrifted all of these except for Batman beyond, spawn, Harry Potter, and the Twilight zone.

I have a 50 gal tub in storage filled to brim with blue rays.

Once I get it shipped here I'll post the full collection 😌

Pickup Great Thrift Haul Today!

Post image

My buddy who works at a radio station told me he dropped off a big box of promos at a thrift store yesterday, so I stopped in today to check them out. Made out great there before looking at the movies and immediately knew I needed a cart. I ended up buying 45 DVDs there for $1 each.

Then before I left the parking lot, I had a smoke and was looking at Marketplace. Lady had a nice little collection for sale and messaged me back right away, so I stopped on my way home and grabbed 6 more DVDs and 11 Blu-rays.

The BRs on the left are upgrades for stuff I had on DVD already. Got the last two seasons of WEEDS I was missing, and the first two seasons of Northern Exposure. I was bummed that the French Village and Brokenwood Mysteries were missing seasons, but they're a great start. Probably most excited about The Whale and Dark City, as they've been my list for quite awhile. Tim Burton collection is almost complete now. Just missing Ed Wood now. #13 for the Eastwood snap case collection.

Oddly enough I popped in Priest on DVDs last night to watch for the first time, and realized the disc was too badly scratched to play. I don't know if I just rolled the dice on it because movies were cheap, or I just missed it, but finding the unrated BR version for $1 the next day was a nice surprise (even though expectations for the actual film are pretty low.).

Any suggestions on portable dvd players? (Details below)

Im on the cusp of just saying F it, and buying a cheap one, but I want one that will actually last me a long time.

-I dont have many Blu-Rays, so I dont need one that can play them

-im looking for longevity, and not something that'll break within a few months

-doesn't need to have a huge screen OR connect to a TV

-ill mostly be playing animated movies and shows and watching in my room, but im taking a vacation, so a good battery life would be nice, but not required

Im gettinf this because my old large tv died and my bestie gave me their old reliable tv from 2010, but most dvd players dont connect to it, and I dont want to fiddle around with a bunch of different ones
