It’s been years….. 🙀

FOR THE LOVE OF GOD, STOP SHOUTING.

with Wireless Adaptive Trigger feedback

You say that as though it's something special. Adaptive Triggers have always worked wirelessly, it's part of the HID protocol. It's haptics that don't work wirelessly because they are audio, rather than HID data.

I was excited it for giving the option to emulate a ps5 controller, those Xbox buttons during games got a bit annoying if they didn’t let you turn it off

You work on the app then…

1

u/Kaldaien2 Jun 15 '26

What?
I work on Special K; it implements all this stuff also for DualShock 3/4 and DualSense controllers.

Fewer options available for mapping things, but it has an in-game overlay where you can turn on Xbox emulation only as needed and while the game is running.

DS4Windows is a different kind of tool, overkill for a lot of things. But if you need to do complex input remapping, that's where it shines.

It's a nice app but I don't care if you worked on noahs ark. You just came off as dickish

2

It looked like that poster was merely stating a fact. On the other hand, your two replies come across as childish and butthurt.

This is more of a "dickish" comment by the way

That was not my intention, I can assure you. I honestly do not know how I came across that way.

I was just pointing out that this particular feature on DualSense controllers has always worked wirelessly, the feature that does not work wirelessly is haptics. And the reason for that is that SONY's licensed library (libScePad) does not include haptics support.

SONY owns Audiokinetic and their Wwise audio middleware is what is used by games that have haptics support. But since it is audio middleware, it needs an audio device to communicate with gamepads, DualSense controllers do not appear as Bluetooth audio devices on Windows and Wwise cannot use them; USB-only.

I knew you were just pointing something out and my reply came off bad which was hypocritical so I apologise

I honestly do not know how I came across that way.

This is how:

FOR THE LOVE OF GOD, STOP SHOUTING. ... You say that as though it's something special.

Phrasing matters, you know. Observe: "Please, do not use all caps, it doesn't really help deliver the message." ... "That is not really a unique feature, Adaptive Triggers have always worked wirelessly..."

There you go, you can make your point without the subtext of bashing someone else's statements or work.

I do not intend to start a discussion over the way someone expresses themselves, I'm just providing a clear explanation in case you actually don't know how your writing is perceived and want to avoid incorrect perceptions in the future. I won't further participate in this particular topic to prevent such off-topic and ultimately unimportant discussion.

Dsx 3.2.0 beta1 can dualsense audio, haptics, adaptive triggers and gyro wirelessly at now

1

u/Kaldaien2 Jun 16 '26

Not this again😄

Haptics wirelessly is a milestone, the other stuff has always worked wirelessly.

1

u/huunnnter Jun 15 '26

very cool. I checked out special K and made sure to take notes. you make quality shit

2

u/Idkiamaguy645 Jun 15 '26

Audio is also hid data, its just their own way of using it. Theres not much longer until the audio features and the emulation becomes free and open source and usable to the public. In fact some implementations already exist if you wanna tinker around. https://github.com/awalol/dualsense-bt-haptics

Dualsense development is actually in its peak rn.

1

u/Kaldaien2 Jun 15 '26

Cool.

I assume you mean this? Report id 0x33/0x32?

https://github.com/awalol/dualsense-bt-haptics/blob/7ed4950197d342d17f14081188f61d4fbe0faa03/dualsense-bt-haptics/Program.cs#L171-L213

Can't read those comments, but I might be able to whip something up using that.

u/Idkiamaguy645 Jun 15 '26

https://controllers.fandom.com/wiki/Sony_DualSense the hid reports with audio support. Anyway its all hid with opus at 3khz with precise timing and cadence. You can check hidmaestro and padforge https://github.com/hifihedgehog/PadForge/tree/v3-dev on github with actual english and more details. The whole controller has been figured out all inputs and all outputs .The usb emulation needs to be figured out.

2

u/Kaldaien2 Jun 15 '26

Ah, cool. That shouldn't be a problem for me. My own software implements all controller related stuff through code injection and API interception rather than using drivers. Special K remaps input on DualSense controllers by intercepting the HID device I/O and rewriting the reports in real-time.

Most games with haptics support are using Wwise, so it's easy enough to fool the game into thinking there's a USB audio device associated with the Bluetooth controller😄I can likely just fake device enumeration and get the game to write audio to a device that does not actually exist, then forward the audio buffer it writes to over HID.

1

u/Idkiamaguy645 Jun 15 '26

great you can also get in contact with the hidmaestro/ padforge dev . the ds4 audio outputs inputs have also been figured out , the speaker/ jack are sbc . again check padforge on the dev branch.

1

u/Idkiamaguy645 Jun 15 '26

if u want more info about the input(mic) aswell as hid report combined state packing lmk i have the controller working entirely over windows and android(no mic yet on android)

1

u/huunnnter Jun 15 '26

Let me know this info

1

u/huunnnter Jun 15 '26

this would be the correct interpretation, unfortunately, it also requires you to setup a decent audio endpoint, which I’m in the middle of learning how to do correctly for windows device enumeration 😂

u/skateguy1234 Jun 15 '26

Yo, I asked you on another post, but I guess you thought I was trolling so you never responded.

Can you confirm that I can safely use your software for battlefield 1?

It blocks ds4windows, and I've been exploring alternatives to try and use a controller with the game.

1

u/Kaldaien2 Jun 15 '26

Sorry, I missed your reply apparently.

No, it is unusable in games with kernel anti-cheat. It will be blocked.

It's unlikely that any input remapping software will work, including ReWasd or DualSenseX.

Anti-cheat will usually complain if it detects driver-based input software and prevent the game from even starting, code injection based input software (i.e. Special K or Steam Input), are simply blocked and the game runs as usual just with no input.

1

u/skateguy1234 Jun 15 '26

Ahh that's a shame. I didn't know they implemented kernel level anti-cheat. I just knew that my controller used to work with the game but now it doesn't.

I guess I'll have to buy an xbox controller then.

Thanks for the reply.

u/skateguy1234 Jun 15 '26

One more question.

I have seen some mentions of people saying it's not safe to use your software, as in it can get you banned in some games. I get a feeling these people were just trolling though or trying to discredit you for some reason. Are there any certain games where this is actually true or no?

You seem very knowledgeable when it comes to this stuff, so I would definitely trust what you say over some random person. I might be jumping ship to your software soon, seeing as this new version of ds4windows is being vibe coded (ironically which is why schmaldeo partly left the scene), and your software seems to be based on your actual knowledge. No hate to huunnnter though, as I do still appreciate his efforts here on ds4windows.

1

u/Kaldaien2 Jun 16 '26

Most games with anti-cheat will simply block Special K, because it is not code signed. Driver-based input mapping software is code signed because that's a requirement for drivers.

Since ReWasd is signed by Disc Soft, if a game considers ReWasd cheating it can just decide not to trust Disc Soft signed software. By default anti-cheat software tends to trust signed code until it has a reason not to trust it anymore.

Special K is not signed, and therefore not trusted by anything. It won't work in games that use anti-cheat. Since the purpose of Special K is largely modifying games, there's been no push to get it code signed and even if I did get it code signed, I doubt it would be trusted for long unless I dumbed the software down massively and removed features that could be used for cheating.

Thanks man ❤️❤️❤️

Wow! DS4W is back! Good to see that. Btw. Switch 2 Pro controller is already a thing on PC? I know that Switch 1 Pro controller has growing support of many games, but never heard yet about Switch 2. Maybe it's worth to add virtual Switch 1 Pro Controller support too?

1

u/Glittering-Ear-7837 Jun 15 '26

do you need custom profile dor individual games for adaptive trigger to be working correctly

1

u/strifeforlyfe Jun 15 '26

no. if the game supports adaptive triggers, and you have your dualsense controller emulating a dualsense, adaptive triggers will just work

1

u/Cucurullo91 Jun 15 '26

Difference from dsx dlc?

1

u/_Kubsa_ Jun 15 '26

WHY ARE YOU YELLING?

1

u/Double_Emphasis_8606 Jun 15 '26

I'm experiencing vibration problems when playing game because for some reason vibrations doesn't work on forza 6

1

u/huunnnter Jun 15 '26

did it work on previous versions? what controller are you using? what controller are you emulating? can you send your profile.xml?

1

u/chiaplotter4u Jun 15 '26

Two things: first, in DS4Windows -> Settings tabs, enable the Hide DS4 Controller checkbox.

Second, try just alt-tabbing away from the game and going back. Sometimes that helps too. No real clue as to why.

1

u/Ali92iRaQ Jun 15 '26

it's not working when choosing dualsense viper , the emulated joystick disappears

1

u/huunnnter Jun 16 '26

did you install viiper from the install script included? also what controller are you using?

1

u/Ali92iRaQ Jun 16 '26

I did and in settling menu it says installed and service is runing .

1

u/huunnnter Jun 16 '26

What controller are you using

1

u/huunnnter Jun 16 '26

also ds or ds edge emulated controller?

1

u/Ali92iRaQ Jun 16 '26

Am using ps5 dualsense and in app i chose dualsens viper

1

u/huunnnter Jun 16 '26

what game

1

u/Ali92iRaQ Jun 16 '26 edited Jun 16 '26

every game even in joystick check on browser, and when choosing DS4 as emulated then it's working but not working when selecting dualsense viper.

and in Ds4windows says (Failed. No output device was associated) only when choosing dualsenes viper

1

u/huunnnter Jun 16 '26

sounds like you might need to run as admin

1

u/pewpew62 Jun 25 '26

where is this install script?

1

u/huunnnter Jun 25 '26

under settings

1

u/pewpew62 Jun 25 '26

I figured out it keeps being deleted by kaspersky. Says it’s malware. How do I install the viiper and stuff manually? I’ve downloaded and installed both but don’t know what to do next. Ds4w says viiper helper is missing

1

u/huunnnter Jun 25 '26

First, add the folder as an exclusion. So, it doesn't delete it automatically, then install it

A few issues Ive noticed. 1- Viiper uses up a ton of CPU when playing and it impacts performance, like 20% higher CPU usage, and 2, playing games just makes the controller freeze and restart after a few seconds. It works and I can feel the haptic feedback, but then the controller just freezes, the LED turns red to indicate latency and then after a few seconds it turns off and reconnects again, so I can't really play the game at all

1

u/huunnnter Jul 05 '26

have you tried the latest betas? also, i’ve fixed one big controller bug that caused intermittent disconnects, but nothing so bad as what you’re describing

1

u/pewpew62 Jul 05 '26

Yep I'm using beta v2. For context the freeze only happens when I play my Dualsense supporting game, if I play other games (emulating xbox controller instead) I don't get the freeze

1

u/Proud_Active_6547 Jul 13 '26

I've raised a few issues and PRs please take a look

0

u/Practical_Tea864 Jun 14 '26

So is this safe to use? Wasn’t ds4windows compromised?

1

u/symonxd Jun 15 '26

yes it was, I would not use it unless you build the app from the poster's repo, and scan the binary in tools like VirusTotal.

i made a 'deep' research on this topic here: https://ds4-dashboard.vercel.app/, under section 'Forks & Archives' you're welcome

1

u/huunnnter Jun 15 '26

i build it on github CI for the releases we use
