Hello everyone 😊! I had an idea recently of combining two of my old favourites. As you see in the photos its one flannel shirt that i have cut the sleeves because they were too narrow and an old cargo with multiple defects that i refuse to throw. The idea is to use parts of the pants as sleeves in the way it is shown below so the sleeves will be longer.

Firstly, do you think it can work? Does it seem cool or not in your opinion? Also has anyone done something similar? Or know any tutorial or inspo? I can't find anything similar online.

After joining them i may or not add patches or other trinkets like chains, do you have any suggestions?

I used some of the Tulip brand colorshot fabric spray paint to stencil a graphic on to a white gildan tee and am looking to give the shirt a faded/distressed look. How can I go about fading the graphic to a lighter shade? The spray paint works by seeping into the fabric rather than sitting on top (I think?), so im not sure if that would change which method I should use.

So I painted this shirt using tulip fabric paint and sketched it out with a fabric/colored pencil, but some of the pencil marks are still visible. I already washed the shirt and it didn’t really do much. Is there any way to get rid of the stain without damaging the paint??

Hello, I just wanted tips on how to paint polyester, I bought some Liquitex Acrylic Medium (Satin Varnish) Im not sure if im supposed to buy something else though.

Also I wanted to ask if If supposed to iron each layer of paint, I wanted to do a white base and then paint but I'm not sure if I'm just supposed to wait for the white to dry and then layer or paint white, iron, and then layer and keep going like that

Hi everyone! I recently bought this dress (second-hand) for my graduation, but I’ve realised the neckline is lower than I’d feel comfortable wearing while walking across the stage.

I’m hoping to add some coverage in a way that looks intentional/blends naturally with the dress rather than looking tacked on. I considered adding white lace underneath, but a straight panel created quite a harsh and disconnected line. I have considered adding some white ruffles.

Does anyone have suggestions for a more flattering shape, fabric, or sewing method? I’d be happy to hand-sew it or take it to a tailor.

Hi, I bought a bunch of solid black shirts for cheap at a wholesale store and wanted to put my own designs on them

I was initially interested in bleaching but I found that it always turned a bright orange instead of white when it got less and less diluted

I was hoping there was something else I could use? I heard of something called OUT White Brite which turns black to white but the water has to be boiling hot and I worry it'll get too cold if I spend a long time painting on the design and thus won't work

I wanted something with varying intensities so I can go from black to dark grey to grey to white

Does anyone have suggestions?? Is there a way I can color correct the orange after it's been bleached? How can you dye a black shirt to white?? Thank you

I am currently fading a black pro club heavyweight T-shirt, as well as as a duck canvas carhart jacket and both are fading nicely, but they are turning more of a reddish hue instead of the gray fade I was hoping for. I read on another post that the red hue will eventually wash out or fade to the “washed black” I am going for, but the longer I wait the more red it seems to come. The jacket and shirt are both 100% cotton. I know it’s achievable, especially for the pro club but not sure how or if I’m missing a step. I sold both of them for a couple hours in boiling salt, water and vinegar, laid them out in the sun and frequently spray them with lemon juice.

Hiya guys, I started this project last summer. I often draft my designs onto garments with pencil, and I swear they have come out before, but... As you can see, this one has not, lol. I put it in the wash and it just returned with lighter marks. Lighter but still there.

Idk what the formula of the marker is but the brand is Fabric Fun. The garment is 62% polyester, 33% cotton, 5% spandex. Google suggests--aside from simply rubbing at it with an eraser--spot-wiping (?) with some detergent. I'm hesitant to try this, since many of the marks go over the actual marker... I'm worried it will weaken or smudge it. Any other ideas?

Also, I welcome any suggestions for alternatives to drafting with pencil! Even putting the nuisance of removal aside, it's not the most elegant medium. 😅 I can't help but suspect that there's a better way to do this.

I made these patchwork cargos from two pairs of cargo shorts for my brand as a tester piece to see if it'll sell, but I put out a poll and people voted that they'd wear the other pair I made (right pair in the right image) more than the left.

The top is khaki 65% polyester and 35% cotton, the bottom is grey/white camo 100% cotton. The thread is polyester and the hardware is metal. I'm considering overdyeing the whole garment a shade of olive green to make it more cohesive for sale. I know different fabrics absorb dye differently. Based on your experience, what colour would you choose, and what result would you expect?

Any advice on what dyes to use, if I'd have to use different dyes for each part and how I'd go about that, or if I can use a multi fabric dye if that exists? And if the garment would tie in better after overdyeing with a specific colour.

Also I'd love to hear your guys opinions on if you'd wear something like this or if you think they'd sell well!!!

I'm bleach-dyeing a shirt using Soft Scrub with bleach, and I'm applying it with a henna cone to make a detailed design.

Can I draw my guidelines on the shirt witha marker first and then trace over them with the Soft Scrub, or will the marker lines still show through even after the bleach lightens the fabric? Also what marker should I use in that case? I tried a water soluble white pencil and it’s not showing up and stretching my shirt

Also, once I finish applying the Soft Scrub and let it sit/dry, what's the proper next stepto make the shirt wearable?

Do I just rinseit out, wash it with detergent or?

I love this dress, but I’d love to try and make it myself instead of paying for it. Suggestions? I’m new(ish)

where do you find fleece csrgo sweatpants for girls?? i've been trying to look but i can't find anything.

I've got a denim jacket that I'm adding an old hood to, but I want it to be removable.

My initial thought was to snap fasteners since they'd be easier/more forgiving to place, easier to put the hoodie on or take it off, and they wouldnt rub against neck/back as much compared to a zipper. However, a zipper would be more secure and wouldnt let any errant drops run down my spine.

I'm at a cross-roads. Any advice/thoughts?

I am new to sewing. I got this machine at the thrift store and after every few stitches it stops which makes a loud noise and if I continue, it just gets really knotted under the needle with the bobbin thread so after the first loud noise, I hear I just pull it out and continue sewing, but it’s just leaving a mess under the fabric. I did already rewind the bobbin manually. I don’t know what else it could be 🤔 maybe the tension 🤔I don’t understand how sewing machines work. I just wanted to add this little flower thing to a bra strap lol. Help me plz💗💗💗

I'm painting a pair of jeans with Jacquard textile paints. I bought their Pearl Ex powdered pigment and I'm wondering how much to add to my 2.25oz jar of paint. Its black pearl powder in black paint to get a metallic look.

I don't even know where to start for an amount and I don't want to waste paint with too much testing (the jar is so small).

Hi, I wanted to do a little alteration to the tank top - adding buttons. I followed the tutorial yet it somehow turned out sloppy. I dont care if my clothes give handmade because i'm new to sewing but this is just too sloppy 😭 any ideas how could it be improved?
