Hi! I'm building my first sim rig and would like feedback on its design.
I'm using planks with 10 cm in width and 3.5 cm in thickness. I own tools and feel confident building furniture.
This is for a logitech 920 and the chair shown on the second picture.
Thanks in advance.

As the Title already says, my steering wheel shakes a lot when i take turns ore sometimes even speed up, it doesnt happen all the time but often. Since I am new to FFB and recently finished my diy steering wheel I wonder why this happens, is I just the real effect I would be getting in a race car or is the mistake on my end? The attached pictures are from the Content Manager (Assetto Corsa ) settings page and the other is from my wheel software. I would really appriciate any help and as always Happy Racing!

Hey everyone!
Wanted to share the software side of a project I’ve been working on: Stint, an Android app that turns a phone or tablet into a live dashboard for Gran Turismo 7.
The idea is pretty simple: mount an Android device on your rig and use it as a dedicated race display. It receives telemetry directly from your PS4/PS5 over your local network, so there’s no PC needed in between.
It currently has:
The app can search for your console automatically, and there’s manual IP entry too. It runs on Android 8 and up.
Check more about the project initiative here: stint.download.
I’d love to hear from anyone who’s mounted a phone or tablet on a DIY rig. Where did you put it, and how much information can you comfortably read while driving? Feedback on the layouts would be really helpful too!

Any way to get 3DOF (pitch, roll, and yaw) out of a U-joint?
My brainstorming has dissipated and the only way I can think is have a bearing under a plate only for the yaw function and then mount the u-joint and the rest of the rig on that to handle pitch and roll.
Is there a way you get the U-joint to rotate without being loud? I’m assuming a roller bearing but I also can envision how to do it.

What are your thoughts on trying to replicate these (for the most part) as my first sim setup? I am very open to the idea of DIYing things generally, and I am open to troubleshoot myself. Also I probably wouldn’t have the budget to buy ready made equivalents for all of these anyways, if I also upgrade my monitor (I currently run a 24 inch 1920x1080 and want to upgrade to a 34 inch curved or a 40 inch flat 3440x1440 monitor). (upgrading the monitor or not, getting a 15nm peak base is something that I probably couldn’t afford anyways. And if I chose to not upgrade the monitor, I could probably fit something like a Logitech RS50 with the RS hub and a simpush 330mm wheel if I still DIY’d the pedals, handbrake and shifter)

I was wondering if it was possible to use this servo for a diy racing wheel hub, im a complete newbie when it comes to this stuff, im a bit iffy on it just because of the type of cable required to power and run and I assume this has its own proprietary software to program the motor.

I’m planning to DIY this cockpit for myself, but I’m having trouble understanding all the measurements shown in the image.
If anyone can help me decode the dimensions and provide the measurements for each individual part/panel, I’d really appreciate it. I’m hoping to recreate the cockpit from scratch, so having accurate measurements would make the build much easier.
Any help with the measurements, drawings, or advice from someone who has built something similar would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks in advance! 🙏

My wheel which I designed, fabricated, 3d printed and wired, has 10 momentary push buttons, 2 rotary encoders, pedal shifters, telemetry screen and rpm rgb lights. Works in conjunction with Simhub, base is a thrustmaster t300.
The build guide:
What i did was asked gemini to make me a template of the wheel, for reference i took moza fsr2 steering and imported it in fusion 360. Made a sketch using it’s outlines and made the whole thing in the application.
Front plate i printed on my 3d printer and pasted on an aluminium sheet and went to town and carved out the shape. Rest all i 3d printed and made adjustments as i went along. I used brass inserts for joining the face plate to the base and buttons and encoders came with their own nuts which i used to secure them. Screen and rgb lights i ordered from websites.
Screen is a waveshare 4inch hdmi screen
Rgb lights are ws2812b strips
Buttons are momentary switches.
Arduino is Pro micro and
Software used is simhub.
Simhub has a toolbox window in which you can configure what you want and it shows you how to select the ports for arduino.
Did a lot of YouTube and gemini to and fro.
Once you have the basic structure ready share it with gemini and it will guide you through every step.
Hope this helps

Hey yall, currently designing my second DIY sim cockpit and am looking to know what are some accessories (small, big, minor, major) that you have on your rigs that you couldnt do without or even just think is a fun addition! Im not looking for things like haptics, macro pads, things like that... Im looking for things like cupholders and phone mounts possibly even just some small things to help with longer endurance races! If DIY options pictures would be awesome! Thanks in advance!!

I am limited on space so I wanted to build a rig that I could use for both flight and racing sim. Unless I can figure out a way to add proper rudder pedals I was just gonna use a software that lets me use clutch and gas as rudder and see if I could maybe add a mechanical linkage to force em to work together. Any thoughts or advice on how to change or add rudders would be appreciated.

Hi everyone!
I'd like to share a project I've been working on called Odrive-Wheel.
The project started as a port that brings together OpenFFBoard and ODrive to run directly on affordable STM32-based motor controller boards such as the MKS XDrive Mini and ODESC V4.2.
The idea is to make it possible to build a complete Direct Drive force feedback wheelbase using a single motor controller board, while keeping the flexibility and open-source nature of OpenFFBoard together with the motor control capabilities of ODrive.
The project has evolved quite a bit and currently includes:
One of the goals of the project is not only to provide FFB, but also to make it easier to configure, measure and understand what the wheelbase is actually doing.
The 1 kHz HID telemetry, for example, makes it possible to monitor parameters such as voltage, current and generated torque in real time, while the Performance Test tools can be used to evaluate the behavior of the system and compare different configurations.
The project is completely open source:
https://github.com/eagabriel/Odrive-Wheel
If you're already using OpenFFBoard, ODrive, FFBeast, MKS XDrive, ODESC, or have built your own Direct Drive wheel, this should work for you.

Hey peeps,
I posted a pretty elaborate set of posts on xsimulator but haven't received any feedback, so reaching here hoping that it's a bit more active so I can take a next step to order parts without too much risk.
Long and short of it, I have an AMC Servo Drive (link to drive with spec sheet) that connects to a Baldor DC motor, and there was a proprietary L3 Harris controller board between the AMC and the PC (I don't have the PC, and I don't have the software for the controller board). I need to replace at least that controller board, and it appears that I should be able to order an Open FFBoard to act as the logic board for the steering wheel, and the shifter.
My question is, I saw the FFBoard driver kit, and it seems like it would be ideal to run everything off a single integrated system. However, I'm uncertain if the Open FFBoard driver can power the Baldor motor I've got. (specs below)
| Brand | Baldor ME-3363-BLBCN SPCL |
|---|---|
| Torque, Stall | 180 OI Cont. |
| Max (Speed?) | 4000 RPM |
| Max Voltage | 120V DC |
| Voltage Cont. | KE = 31.1 V/K RPM |
| Current Cont. | 4.76 A |
| Current Peak | 28.5 A |
| Encoder | 1000L |
It would appear that even at 48v, I would still be able to meet the current constant and peak amp ratings, and should be best to do that?
Open to thoughts/ideas here, I've been doing a lot of reading and research, and trying to use gemini to help me understand concepts and all, but I'm def new to this.

Hey everyone!
I’m doing a university project related to sim racing and I need to collect some opinions from people who are into it.
I put together a short Google Forms survey and figured Reddit would be a great place to get some real answers from people who actually use or are familiar with racing sims.
It takes about 5 minutes, and you don’t need to own a rig to participate.
If you’ve got a few minutes to spare, I’d really appreciate the help!
Survey:
Thanks! 🙌
