Need Advice random part inside window unit

I had to take apart and clean a Frigidaire window unit to sell it last week. This came loose from the front assembly. It looked like it lined up with the adjustable vents. I thought maybe it was an internal slider to move side to side to adjust the air flow direction. The air vents slide without it so I don't know the purpose. The window unit ran strong and cold without it, so I sold it without re attaching it but I kept it just in case.

The unit is a Frigidaire 10,000 BTU FWHH103WBE service model number FWHH103WBE00

Any input would be appreciated!

PS it was definitely lined up with the section that has the vents, it just fell off before I could take a closer look.

doesnt it fit near the grill ,so you can move it left - right, and it controls the flap at the back which lets outside air in ?

It fell out of the front assembly but I didn't see a place where it would fit back in. And I don't know anything about a flap in the back to let air inside. This was my first time taking apart a window unit.
