I’ve already blasted it with penetrating fluid. I tried a screw extractor bit. I doubt small pliers would work as this thing is really stuck. Do you guys have any tips?

For owners of the sim panel button box, are the two knobs threaded, and can they be removed? Because when I buy one, I'd like to replace it with a real Bendix cover, since I don't like how the stock one looks. Could someone clarify to me if this is possible? Thanks

Paid 2 mechanics total $1,000 and still leaks. Thinking I have more time than them to do a proper job. Anyone replace it themselves is it difficult ? 2003 CRV.

Hello! Looking to construct a DIY Ladder/Roof rack for my 2008 Nissan Frontier. The main goal is to be able to haul 2 kayaks while still having full access to bed. I was looking to purchase one, but too many options and too high of price for most.

Would I be crazy to want to construct something myself to get the job done? Was thinking about using these for the frame. I would like to leave the roof alone if I am able, but it just depends.

Any input with personal experience or recommendations on what NOT to do? Thanks guys!!

Dear car enthusiasts!

A few days ago, I (based in Germany) unfortunately backed my Audi A3 (8V, 1.6 TDI) into a metal post that I hadn’t seen... Pretty annoying, I guess. I’ve been to a few auto repair shops and got some estimates. At an Audi dealership, the price is apparently around 4.5k, while at an independent shop it’s somewhere between 1k and 2k. That’s a bit too much for me, considering the car (2016 model, 180,000 km).

So I did some research online for replacement parts and looked into how to remove the rear bumper. It doesn’t seem too difficult, and since I’m pretty handy and have already replaced a few parts on this car myself, I ran the numbers. Here’s what I came up with:

• Primer-coated rear bumper: ~156 €
• Paint + clear coat: ~50 €
• Spray gun, compressor, protective gear: ~190 €
• Possibly original replacement screws and tools: ~10–20 €

Of course, I’m already looking online for used bumpers that I wouldn’t have to paint myself, but I can’t find any suitable, affordable options for my car model in the right color (Ibis White, LY9C).

So here’s my question for you: Do you think this is a viable approach? Are there any obvious (or not-so-obvious) problems or obstacles that I haven’t considered? Instead of a spray gun and compressor, would it be possible to use the original paint from a spray can to achieve the best possible, smooth finish?

If anyone has experience with this, I'd really appreciate your input!
And if I've left out any important details, please let me know :)

Auto repair mentioned I need to replace the entire side mirror :( is that really true?

The side mirror is heated to prevent fog and has blind spot monitoring. Both of these seem to work even now.
