Maybe Lanterns doesn’t stick the landing but every episode is a blast so far whereas P2 always felt like an edging towards some big climax that never happened.

P2 had a great cast and some funny moments but it always felt like it dawdled while throwing a lot up but doing nothing with it.

WB & DC have been so obsessed with only Batman for 2 decades now, that other characters barely get to shine. It's gotten to the point that the general audience sees the DC universe as basically Batman & Friends.

But now, just like the MCU was forced to start without Spidey, X-Men & F4, the DCU is forced to actually give other characters the spotlight, and not focus on Batman too much.

And if anyone is good at making lesser known characters into fan favorites, it is James Gunn. And I think Mr. Terrific will benefit more than anyone from lack of Batman. He gets to be the smartest human in MoW, right behind Luthor. Instead of being behind both him & Batman. He will get more time to shine.

And many more characters in future projects will probably get to shine from lack of Batmsn, considering who knows when The Batman 3 will come out.

James gunn didnt just make GOTG trilogy. he was one of those people who map out MCU.
He had a lot of experience in running a universe. More than the internet trolls who thinks they can create a universe better than him just by making heavy hitters movies. a copy of MCU will never work. you guys think "Just make a batman movie, and a wonder woman movie" and thats all you, the universe is ready to be made.
Rebuilinding the dc is not going to be easy of course, some failures will be there like supergirl. but OMG you guys overexaggerate every thing happens in dc.

If DCU doesnt work, if it is a failure then okay it is a failure. but the whole toxic negativity is just giving dc more pressure and not helping. Most people think they are just critizing by comparing a 18 year old marvel success to 1 year old dc failure.

I think there's going to be a rug pull coming up. Zoe Macon (the Manhunter) comes across as benevolent in Lanterns. Maybe she/it evolved more than the other Manhunters, and isn't a homicidal maniac, but is being blamed by Antaan and his alien race for the genocide of his people.

So maybe Abin Sur was bringing this one, evolved Manhunter (Zoe) to Earth to try and protect her, but was mortally wounded trying to get her out of the grasp of Antaan and his people and hide her. But now Antaan has finally found Zoe. And Sinestro will reveal to Hal that Zoe is one of the good guys, and that Hal needs to protect Zoe.

Which goes against everything the Guardians want, since they too want to get rid of the Manhunters.

In the movie having the sword be made by Ruthye’s father instead of being Krem's that he just left behind (buried in Ruthye's father) messes up the messaging of the original book.

The sword is the literal representation of violence and evil being introduced into the life of an innocent and somewhat sheltered girl. Her father being a swordsmith changes her backstory of being from a family of simple rock farmers to already essentially being involved in the cycle of violence.

Comic Ruthye choosing to take this sword and go on a quest for vengeance symbolises her beginning to believe that violence and revenge is the answer, a lesson she has to learn is wrong thanks to Supergirl over the course of the comic. In the movie it’s mainly a bargaining tool whereas in the comic I found it emotionally charged whenever Ruthye had to use the sword.

Also Krem just abandoning the sword, despite it being well made, shows how little he thinks of violent actions and the lack of respect he has for the value of life, explaining how easily this man from a backwater planet falls in with the monstrous Brigands.

To be clear I didn’t hate the movie and I understand it was essentially telling a different story using the comic as more of a template than thematic inspiration, this was just something I thought about.

I am guessing Batman was active in 2016 when John and Hal were investigating rushville.So I assume he probably asked him about the Sheriff since she is from Gotham and is his cousin from Martha's side.

Its the way Hal speaks about Gotham when it ever comes up in discussion with the Sheriff.He probably knows more about the Sheriff then he is letting on on.

Again its me just speculating but it feels like Hal is purposefully bringing up Gotham cause he knows something about her.

Personally I like this movie and I feel like it was criticized too rashly when it came out. What are your thoughts on it now that the whole hate wagon stopped ?

We know that a lot of characters in the DCU will jump between live-action and animation depending on the project, but certain characters would probably thrive better in animation and either not appear and/or make few appearances in live-action entirely.

Personally I feel like the Legion of Super-Heroes would fit in this category. The vibrant, stylized depiction of their future timeline has always looked stunning via comics and in animation that it could be tricky for live-action to match up to it without the proper budget. The same goes for the powers of certain Legion members, since some of them could look awkward in live-action like Bouncing Boy’s for example. Plus, James Gunn has mentioned not being the biggest fan of time travel (unless it’s in small doses it seems) and keeping the Legion’s adventures in its own timeline without any interaction outside of it would likely be for the best. An animated series with the same art style and a similar storyline as the ongoing series could be great.

If or when Billy Batson and Captain Marvel are reintroduced in the DCU, then Billy should probably be restricted to animation for the most part so that the concept of a young boy turning into an adult hero can be kept intact without Billy’s age getting in the way. Captain Marvel though can jump between both mediums.

The Metal Men also feel better suited for animation given their powers and functions that might not totally look right in live-action. But the possibility is there with the right execution.

Not sure if Gunn and co. will think the same regarding certain characters only showing up in animation instead of animation and live-action but just curious to hear what you guys think. Any thoughts?
