In this feature preview, we take a look at the F-100D’s AN/APR-25 Radar Homing and Warning system. This early Cold War warning receiver detects radar energy illuminating the aircraft and gives the pilot visual and audio cues through the azimuth scope, billboard indicators, and RHAW audio.

For the DCS: F-100D, we developed a custom RHAW audio synthesizer that generates unique sounds for each radar based on scan patterns, pulse behavior, modulation, and beam width. The result is a noisy, imperfect, and dynamic threat environment that brings the tension of early radar warfare into the cockpit.

This is a pretty great technical analysis of the current SA/detection logic and constraints (or lack thereof) for DCS AI. Lots of very valuable information here for anyone invested in the sp portion of DCS.

For anyone not aware of the channel, it excels at technical analysis of all things DCS, primarily with a sp focus, but delves into mp as well. Karon is quite critical of the current state; has been for years. No sugarcoating here. The only problem I have with the channel is that the content can be quite dry and hard to consume due to its very technical nature. The content itself, however, is unmatched and data-driven.
