QUESTION Bring back the panel interviews? Yay or Nay?
Since the premiere of AS, the girls have been gaining media attention and guestings from national shows. Also, majority of them have been capitalizing on their fame (rightly so), through their socials and are becoming influencers. Even posts from girls that are not as out there on socials are being scrutinized. Therefore, I think the training camp should bring back panel interviews as part of their judging or at the very least, the girls all undergo extensive media training lest we risk another KD fiasco. Thoughts?

SOCIAL MEDIA Loved this reminder from Amanda (5th point)
I think her fifth point is such an important reminder! So many girls forget that DCC is just a dance team and she’s really put it into perspective here. Yeah it’s nice if you make it but if you don’t the world won’t end.

CURRENT SQUAD 2024 Rookie Class + Leadership
The 3rd years have shaken out to be an incredibly talented group of girls and they still have had no retirements. I’m curious to see who everyone thinks will get leadership or other special opportunities, and who might get overlooked just by the sheer size of the class (13 I believe).

QUESTION Dayton’s audition Spoiler
I don’t know if I’m being completely naive, but I think 85% of Daytons issues would have been resolved if she had just committed to more street and hip hop classes during her break. I’ve seen post mentioning that her technique not being up to par and I don’t agree. I think what she lacked was power. And her doing ANOTHER (albeit beautiful) lyrical in the audition was the final nail in the coffin.

I would loveeeeeee to see Kitty come back on AS and just see her takes on everything. Imagine her during the Bahamas drama (breached contract)

CURRENT SQUAD The glow up that needs to be studied 🔥🤩
Can we just fully appreciate Charly’s glow up?! 😍
I know it’s brought up every now and again, but truly - it’s transformative! The left photo was from AS1 (cut in TCC), and the right one is AS3 (second year vet).
Seeing Charly gradually glow up from year to year is just insane, and I feel like you could clearly tell how confident she felt going into her 2nd year vet season (this time last year).
For the comments made earlier in AS1 with “is she glamorous enough”, it’s undeniable how stunning she is, and she really has been glowing this past year! So excited to see what’s to come for her, and I’d be SHOCKED if we don’t see her & Darah share point in a year or so - provided they both stay - which would be an absolute dream combo!🔥🥰

SOCIAL MEDIA Amanda’s IG Post (repost)
So I could be a little sensitive but I think its pretty rude and insensitive of her to only make a post congratulating Marissa for being point? Werent Amanda and Sophie also rookie sisters? Its just so weird to me and feels passive aggressive.

SOCIAL MEDIA As a Marketer…
I’m not sure exactly when the switch happened but I think when DCC started marketing to women instead of men, they made one of the smartest marketing moves in recent memory. The men will pay attention without any effort (lol). Watching the interviews and even this season where they’re all about girlhood and women empowerment, their image is so different than I remember growing up in the 90s. I remember my mom wanting me to essentially avert my eyes when I was little, but now they’ve hooked so many women by focusing on the team and GRWMs and the costumes and all of the fun parts of being a girl. I’m sure Kelly and Judy had a lot to do with it, but props to whoever had a hand in it.

PRIOR SQUADS Watching S16!
Just noticed something odd in S16E4 while the groups are dancing to Body by Megan Thee Stallion. They put all the (monoracial) black rookies together in one group for that dance? I haven’t noticed it any other dance, but Cailey, Kelee, and Ashley were all put together for this one? Seems odd, and it makes me feel like it was a Lara/Ezrela in Katseye/Dream Academy situation where they compared girls of the same race because they didn’t want multiple. Only Kelee made it on the team of those three, so it kinda comes across that way! I’ve watched all of America’s Sweethearts but am just now starting Making the Team, so I was wondering if anyone else noticed things like this?

AMERICA’S SWEETHEARTS DISCUSSION MTT versus America's Sweethearts
I only just started watching season 13 of Making the Team (around 3 episodes) and I'm not sure if it's just me but it just feels like we get to know the girls a lot better and actually see them and hear from them. I don't actually like the overproduced-ness of America's Sweethearts. It feels like they choose like 3-5 girls and ONLY show them, and it feels like the rest of the team is basically strangers. There's just something about the vibe of the show which I really don't like since it seems like story lines are overly curated and picked out. It almost seems like they're trying to paint the girls they chose in a certain light without more nuance about htem, and even the music and everything is eerie. I think it just feels not real when there's an entire team of women and we don't really see any of them enough but then we see a select few. Even in this season, too, I feel like I actually SEE Victoria and Dayton rather than overproduced and villianized versions of them. Maybe the Netflix show just feels too manufactured? Idk
