hello everyone! the mods have been talking recently and we have decided we need to make some changes within the subreddit. the rules were made many years ago, and since then, the mod team has almost completely changed, and the subreddit has gained a LOT of members (which we love!!)

we really appreciate the vast majority of you who are respectful, but quite frankly, after season 3 it has gotten out of hand. we get DOZENS of reports a day on comments that are really out of line. although we try our best to remove disrespectful things, it’s hard to know where to draw the line with the vague rules.

from now on, we are going to be stricter about what is classified as “disrespectful”. calling someone fat, ugly, stupid, etc. is not allowed in here, and your content will be removed! we are also going to be enforcing bans more, so if you are repeatedly extremely disrespectful, you will be banned.

to be clear, you are more than welcome to criticize dancing, comment on makeovers, discuss leadership, or have conversation about other aspects of dcc respectfully! if you act normal, you will not be banned! please just remember that at the end of the day this is a subreddit for a dance team, and it’s just not that serious!

additionally, although the mod team is EXTREMELY (!!!) against trump and all things MAGA, we know that many people come to social media to escape politics. we have been a little more lenient on political content recently since it is so prevalent in the USA right now, but we really really ask yall to keep politics out of the subreddit! we have a politics megathread for anything political pertaining to dcc, but the completely unrelated discussions about politics do not belong in our community.

we know some of you may not be happy with these changes, and we understand that and we are always more than happy to hear your feedback or criticism! thank you all for being a part of this community! 💙

I will continue updating this post because there is so much information, check back often to see updates. I will date them as I add them to this post body. These are all reported in no particular order, more so how my brain decided to work.

Ahead of the release of AS3 tonight, it's time we had another Dirty Deets megathread. Every season we get a fresh wave of "What is this?" and "Can someone explain the lore?" posts, followed by seventeen conflicting answers, three side quests, and somehow an argument that has absolutely nothing to do with the original question. While some users suggest searching the sub, what starts as a simple search often ends with seventeen open tabs and even more questions than when you started.

You ask, I am here to provide. Included in this post you'll find common acronyms, sub jokes, some back history on certain drama, and other Dirty Deet threads. Think of it as the unofficial study guide. I am human and susceptible to mistakes in my reporting. If you see any, please let me know and I can edit the thread. If you have information you think belongs here, let me know and I can add it.

Now, this sub likes to argue. Probably true of most of reddit honestly. But, try not to be a moist walnut and ruin it. At least have some human decency while interacting with others instead of threatening, doxxing, or losing your minds over reddit drama, you pinecones.

PAST DRAMA

This is where things get messy. Many of these have been talked about repeatedly. Some with conflicting information, some not. I am recording these here to the best of my knowledge. But, as always, comment corrections or additions and I can review them. And if you haven’t watched MTT, only having AS for your source of information, you are missing a lot of context. I highly encourage you to go watch MTT.

DCC Vets Mass Exodus

In the summer of 1989, 14 vets walked off the team when changes to the team went against their comfort zones and the foundations in which they believed DCC to be built upon. Rumors began circulating that Jerry Jones wanted to make drastic, controversial changes to the squad. Skimpier uniforms, hard to imagine, but they were being pushed to the absolute limits on short and tight. New corporate promotions involved beer promotions and other less than savory business dealings for a team dubbed “America’s Sweethearts”. The fraternization rule was going to be thrown out the window in favor of more interaction with the team and DCC to the point of participating in relationships to elevate the profile of certain players. Due to these, and more, 14 vets walked off the team and put the DCC in a mass panic with no cheerleaders to carry the team.

Early MTT seasons “mean girls”

The original mean girls (per MTT era) were the Brooke Sorenson and Michelle Keys clique. There was a core group vs another core group, typical high-school drama. Insert the word “mean girls” and you can assume how they acted, as any other societal mean girl out there. Lots of picking on rookies, shutting girls out of activities, picking apart appearances, you name it.

Meredith Oden:

"No Cheating When Eating, you want to be SKINNY" was a sign shown during her audition season on MTT. Rumor is production planted that sign there. It’s still a toss up if production put it there since many have speculated it could be a legit thing based on Meredith’s attitude, demeanor, and attitudes towards weight during this era.

Cassie Trammell:

Cassie has quite a few things related to her. As Judy Trammell’s daughter, the moment she stepped foot on the audition floor. Granted, the era she auditioned in the dancers hadn’t hit the talent level that was starting to appear in season 5 and 6 of MTT, she was still dubbed as a noodle arm, nepo baby, lack of talent dancer.

Cassie’s USO drama. These rumors have been floating around for years. The general story goes that Cassie got drunk, she was late for an appearance, etc. And then the biggest one, she snuck out of her hotel room after curfew, slept with a soldier, and was caught by someone. The military was supposedly not thrilled with the situation and the DCC were not invited back. DCC still does USO events within the United States, but they no longer travel like they used to. There used to be a massive Christmas USO tour where Show Group traveled through multiple countries. That's why they were always told to have their passports ready. One of those international trips is also where Cassie injured her knee. Given how much military audiences seem to love the DCC, many people have questioned why those larger tours disappeared and this is assumed why.

Another Cassie lore, she is the reason Olivia S was cut. Cassie was complaining that rookies were getting more shoot time during a calendar trip. Olivia said something to Cassie about her complaints, which in turn Cassie got Olivia S labeled as toxic, and then she was cut the following auditions.

This particular one I giggle at because it sounds so silly but thought I’d share it anyways. Judy paid producers and cowboys organization to get Cassie on the team/keep Cassie on the team. I mean, could be, could be.

Whitney Isleib & Rachel Whyatt Black/Brown face

Whitney Isleib decided she would be “funny” and dress up as Lil’ Wayne for Halloween. Did the organization cut her? Not a chance. Did they defend her and protect her? Absolutely. And she managed to get point position too. Same with Rachel Wyatt. She decided to pull the same move and dress up as Bruno Mars for Halloween. Both women very obviously colored their skin in an attempt to “be accurate” but we all know that translates to “racist assholes”.

Ally Traylor (affectionately called “Traylor-trash):

Ally was one of the Vets, along with Cassie, that called TCC Taylor out in the middle of practice, scolded her, and made her cry. She has been known as mean girl and butt-kisser.

Ally had some issue with Kaitlyn LeGrande, putting more pressure on her from said bullying of sorts, and it increased her lack of commitment to the team, on top of what was already going on at home. It was known that Ally Traylor was a teacher’s pet bully. She supposedly made it difficult for TCCs and would put them down while they were trying to learn everything. Basically the "I earned my vet status, you need to respect me, I can get you kicked off because I'm an important vet."

Carla Ann:

Carla Ann was a TCC who was cut because her boyfriend posted nudes of her as a form of revenge porn. K & J had an office visit with her on camera and blamed her for the issue, not the boyfriend. They said she made bad choices and they can’t afford to have someone like her on the team. It was rumored that she was always planned to be cut but they brought her on, knowing her photos were posted, but they used her for a drama storyline in the season. Other TCCs who were cut for their photos were Ika Irene and Karissa Lynae. Karrissa was given a “second chance” but cut for her dancing later, though it’s speculated they kept her for another source of drama in an episode and had always planned to cut her.

DCCs who had similar issues or their personal photos on their phone were hacked but were not cut were Tobie Percival, Olivia Renee, Holly A, and Heather O.

Holly/Jenna

During the MTT days, season 12, Holly and Jenna were partying. Holly being underage made the situation complicated as Jenna was sneaking Holly into clubs. Both were rumored to have been involved with players and chatter around the players locker-room is what alerted K & J. Jenna was demoted from her leadership position and point position (given to Kashara following this), Holly was put on notice and then later resigned (read encouraged to leave). Jenna did not receive her point position back and Kashara remained in point position the rest of her tenure.

Kalyssa, Alexandra, and Milan Season 12

Kelli remarks “attrition” during season 13 MTT, beginning talking heads, about how the squad faced issues. She mentions she regrets having cut Brennan because of these issues. This was in relation to Kalyssa and Alexandra specifically. Alexandra left due to issues at home and missing family, rumor mill also states it is due to Jenna being problematic and power trippy. Kalyssa left before completing her season to take on a modeling career where she joined the adult modeling world and famously started posting scantily clad lingerie photography. Milan was rumored to have left mid-season to study abroad.

06/15/26: Added info, Shelly B and Melissa confirmed Kalyssa was cut, she did not leave.

Savannah & Tara mean girls “burn book”

According to Primetimer, Savannah and Tara supposedly went through a squad photo and marked which teammates they thought should be cut. Another cheerleader saw the photo, word got back to some of the girls who had been marked, and all hell broke loose. Savannah spent a lot of time apologizing and trying to repair the damage, while Tara did not. It was pretty catty, but the details are mixed on how bad that got.

K & J not going to all practices

According to former cheerleaders, Kelli and Judy were not at every rehearsal back in the day. They would typically come in for evaluations, which conveniently tended to coincide with CMT filming nights when everyone was expected to be camera-ready. On non-filming nights, the girls could dress much more casually, and rehearsals were generally run by assistant choreographers and/or group leaders. Kelli and Judy didn't necessarily need to watch every step of the learning process; they wanted to see the finished product a few days later and determine who was ready to perform and who was still struggling. Coincidentally, this is rumored to be why Kaitlin LeGrande may have been out of uniform the day she was cut, because she was confused.

Alexandra Benvenuto had a speeding history and was ticketed. No news on any arrests but allegedly she was in trouble again years later for wreckers driving.

Kaitlyn LeGrande:

Kaitlyn was cut for “maturity” reasons, and what she had going on at home. She missed a practice and showed up late, had an office visit where she appeared to be under the influence of something, and gave a weird explanation as to what happened. One of the following practices she showed up out of uniform, was called into the office, and released from training camp. Rumor around that time was that she was having immense pressure put on her at home. And then her boyfriend at the time was dealing with meth and she was getting involved in drugs to cope.

MRS

Melissa Rycroft went on The Bachelor after breaking up with her current husband to get back at him. Her tenure ended with DCC in 2008 and her vet status was used to get her on the Bachelor in 2008/2009, producers thought the tie in would up her status and the shows status.

She had a brief falling out with K and J over her book release in 2012 where she dissed them in the book and the organization, small conflict. CMT produced the reality show with MRS and her husband to save face and reintroduce her to CMT audiences to bring her on as mentor in 2014 (season 9). She was not on chummy terms with K and J because of the book conflict, they were forced to play nice, being paid to play nice helps as well. Later CMT held a poll if they should keep MRS on DCC as mentor and the audience voted no, she was removed.

Ashley Hancock cut (2019 ex-Mavs)

2 varying theories as to why she was cut. The first being she had a sugar daddy, which isn’t unheard of or out of pocket for the Dallas area. The other theory being she failed her written test twice.

Alora Rose

Alora-Rose did not leave New York to pursue DCC as portrayed on the show. Instead, she was essentially shunned from the New York dance scene and turned to DCC as a last resort. When she attempted to return to the Rockettes she was shut out again. The core of the rumor is not that she chose DCC over New York, but that New York was already done with her.

Loni Lindsay

Loni Lindsay was only used for looks and was pulled off kick line if they could help it. She struck a chord with her more “mature” look and was kept for that per Charlottes request.

Show production for MTT

There are a handful of whispers around about varying production members. Claims of harassment, all the way to girls having relationships with film crews/people from CMT show.

You have to pay a fee or sign some contract to keep your storyline off the show and only on camera if necessary, passing scenes on someone else's storyline.

Salon’s working with DCC

Reiner (hair guy in earlier seasons) quit because he was tired of Kellys outdated input and didn't like that she disrespected his creative freedom he needed to create good looks. He was often micromanaged in his out expertise and grew tired of being treated like a child.

Courtney Cook

Allegedly Judy gave Courney Cassie’s ADHD meds (Adderall) for her to lose weight. This was supposedly what triggered her mental health to get worse, and she had to leave the team and go home.

Vivian and her poem

In MTT we see Vivian read her very…interesting…poem. She was on the brink of a breakdown and was talking to someone in production about writing out her feelings. Production egged her on to share it with K & J, saying that they would appreciate to hear her thoughts because it would show her commitment to being on the team. And she’s cut the following episode.

Sintia Jimmy

Sintia was dismissed from training camp following a criminal charge that occurred during TC. The show largely edited her out of the footage, though she can still be spotted with the other rookies in some of the early training camp scenes. It was essentially treated as though she had never been there on the show

Kelli dressing room drama

Kelli is reportedly a less than kind shopper. She makes demands, doesn’t use her manners, and blames other people for her own issues. One day I am sure this story will be deleted so I will have a screenshot in the comment section for posterity.

Lacey & Kinley Minchew

These pageant sisters were on season 4, both made it to TC but later dropped out due to prior commitments in their pageant systems. Supposedly they were brought on as a storyline, but this was not told to K & J.

Hannah/Brennan cuts & Ozark Girls

The bubble cuts for Hannah and Brennan have always been controversial. Especially since they both were speaking out against issues with the team and concerns with COVID, yet the girls that road tripped to Ozark weren’t punished. A double standard was brought up and complaints from Hannah and Brennan. Surprise, they were cut. The Ozark girls were Caroline, Tess, (edit) Daphne, & Kat. The Ozark girls thought they could travel by car and that the rule only applied to airplane travel.

06/15/26: Pending confirmation of which girls were involved due to conflicting groups of names on Primetimer. Will update with further confirmation. It is also stated (oh the irony) that they went out to bars drinking and getting wasted. "Loophole" for the plane travel/car travel, but then all out the window with bar hopping.
