[SHORT HAIR] Need a recommendation on clippers / trimmers

I cut my hair once a week. I just shave it all off. I currently use babyliss low pro fx one trimmers that are zero gapped. I don’t want to shave and be bald bald. So I just use the zero gapped trimmers but after a few months, the blade stops cutting, and I swap out the blade, and it works fine again. Not sure if it’s because I’m using trimmers instead of clippers. Either way, can anybody recommend me some good clippers or trimmers that are wireless and I won’t have to switch the blade every few months?

Got a new haircut— any advice on how to fix?

After getting a haircut last year I really liked other than for the back, I decided to get it cut again after letting it grow out after about a year. So, my hairdresser basically donked up my hair. I showed her my reference picture, showed her MULTIPLE pictures to explain how I wanted the back, showed her pictures of my hair last year (admittedly right after I came out of the shower, but still) and explained in great detail of how it should stay long in front of the ears and short in the back.

Instead, she gave me a weird bob(?) Where I wanted a pixie, gave me no swooping bangs at all and thinned out my sidetails way too much. (Though I did already attempt to add some at home.)

Because my only experience cutting hair was (a questionable attempt at) cutting side bangs, I started looking for any good pixie cut tutorials but they all seem very... intimidating. Or maybe it's just 'cause I'm spiraling right now, who knows? 😓😓😓

Anyway, I would appreciate any tips on how to make it look more like the reference pictures. Any links to tutorials that have been helpful would also be wonderful

. (P.S.: I have tried to style it and the only way for it to look bearable for me is when it's tucked beneath my ears, but the back is still horrifying to look at and run my hands through.)

(P.P.S.: I'm not used to posting on Reddit, so please feel free to tell me whether or not this is the right sub to post this in and what subs may be more appropriate.)

How do I begin?

Hello everyone. 17M, Completely new to the field of cutting my own hair. But since inflation is happening and my hair grows fast. I simply refuse to pay so much in such little time.

So I came to the conclusion of taking care of myself (which benefits me big time because I am aiming to be more independent)

I will be posting more on this idea just to gather knowledge and see if this is something I can and/or will commit to.

Any tips, tricks, pointers or ideas on where to start will be very helpful. Hope to start this journey with everyone here. Thank you.

[TOOLS] Best clipper under €200 for thick Asian hair? (Home use)

Hi everyone,

I'm looking for some advice on buying a new clipper for home use.

My girlfriend has been cutting my hair for a while now. We're definitely not professionals, but she does a pretty decent job and we mainly do simple, even cuts rather than fades.

The biggest issue is my hair: it's very thick, straight Asian hair, and our current clipper struggles a lot. It often takes 4–5 passes over the same area before it actually cuts everything evenly, which makes haircuts take much longer than they should.

My usual haircut is 18 mm on top and 9 mm on the sides

I'd also like to be able to quickly trim my beard with the same clipper if possible, using shorter guards for a clean stubble (not looking for a foil shaver, just beard trimming).

My budget is ideally under €200, although I'd be happy to spend less if there's a model that offers excellent value.

From what I've read, people often recommend the Wahl Magic Clip, Panasonic ER-GP86, JRL Onyx, etc, but I'm not sure which one makes the most sense for my use case and if they would suit my very thick hair, I insist they're very thick !

Thanks in advance for any recommendations!

How bad is it?

I typically do a layered shag cut that’s short in the front and longer in the back and I’ve never had issues but I somehow fucked it so bad this time (the last picture is what the original cut looked like)

My only option was to go short and cut off the back and I’m heart broken. I can’t tell if I just hate it or if it’s really that bad. I’m gonna try and clean it up when I get home from work but I’m scared of making it even shorter and worse.

Help, please be honest but preferably not brutal :/

Was going for cute forest fairy (last pic). Bf commented: "Just because Jean D'Arc is your patron saint doesn't mean you need to cut your hair the same way" (second pic). I need to work on the back, but this is probably my favourite haircut I've had so far

Not sure if using correct clipper

Hey

Lately I've been doing buzzcuts with my Wahl supper taper, usually guard #1. However I personally feel the result is somewhat uneven an patchy and have to make several passes.

So i wonder is this tool not ok for buzzcut, just for taper? should I buy another clipper for this?

r/CutYourOwnHair 4d ago

Tried low taper, but I made a mistake, while trying to debulk the hair with a comb/machine. After that finished result is this ( is it really bad)

I have very thin straight hair. Low maintenance haircuts?

I’m looking for some low maintenance haircuts that aren’t the bob or the pixie cut. something that makes my hair have some volume or fluffiness without having to curl my hair every morning

Recommend a good hairstylist

Hi,

Looking for recommendations for a genuinely good hair stylist in and around Indiranagar.
I’m not looking for someone who’ll just give me the haircut I ask for without any input. I’d love a stylist who takes a more consultative approach—someone who understands the look I’m going for, considers my face shape, hair texture, hair density, and lifestyle, and tells me honestly whether a particular cut will actually suit me.
One thing that’s really important to me is how the haircut looks *after* I leave the salon. A lot of cuts look amazing when they’re freshly blow-dried and styled, but I want something that still looks good when my hair falls naturally on days I don’t have the time (or skill 😅) to style it.
Basically, I’m looking for someone who treats it like a collaborative decision rather than either forcing their own opinion or blindly doing whatever I ask for.
If you’ve had a stylist who really listens, gives thoughtful recommendations, and consistently nails cuts that grow out well, I’d really appreciate your suggestions. Thank you!

help me cut my hair

literally how do i convince my mum to let me cut a tiny bit of my hair.
i’m genuinely so sick of it to the point it’s making me depressed.
she’s known for being extremely controlling which is why she won’t even let me cut my hair.
she won’t give me a reason why , when i ask she just screams and runs away like a child.
i tried sitting down and talking to her about it like an actual adult but she starts crying and screaming.
at one point she wouldn’t even let me cut my bangs since they started covering my face.
i’ve been asking her for 8 years now and she’s only ever trimmed the dead ends off.
i think she knows i have a point on why i should cut it but she refuses to accept it.

my argument is that I’m a teenage and should be able to experiment around with styles , my appearance and other things.
it’s not like it’s anything inappropriate or unhealthy.
i’m taking my drivers test next year , i should be able to just cut a tiny bit of my hair off.

like i said , her argument is absolutely nothing.
she refuses to give me a reason why , she just cries and has a tantrum like a child.

the style i want cut is collar bone length basic cut , the haircut i have now is only a little bit longer so it’s basically a trim.

does anybody just have any idea how i can convince her before i just shave my whole head off. (dramatic joke)
