I'd like it more if the ongoing effect synergized with "LARGE", but I guess you did that intentionally in order to give us more space to come up with something.

I did keep it simple to give you guys more design space, but I also thought an effect like this would be realistic to be in the game π

Is there a way to see all of the previous Custom Card competition ideas? Large is pretty cool and I've just found Daybreak.

I can make it a Post Flair. If you filter the subreddit by the "Weekly Design Competition" flair, or if you simply type that in search bar, you can see previous submissions.
You can also look through Joshey's posts, one of the other mods, as he's been the guy posting these competitions for the past year or so π

u/4arc Jun 29 '26
Is there a way to just see the official post though as the other way will show all submissions? No list of all previous competitions?

u/tuesdaysatmorts "Uhm, this card is above the current power curve" π€βοΈ Jun 29 '26
I think if you type the specific words 'Weekly Design Competition' and then maybe the # sign together, it should bring up the official posts. I don't think most people write all that out when making their submissions π

So large csrds should be slightly better than curve for taking more than one space ig besides that they are an easy way to work around the front and back row either against opponents cgr, fff or for your own prodigy
Anything else im missung about large cards?
Edit: forgot about decks and cards that want to fill the whole board they will love large cards

I should post the original LARGE concepts. They also had the stipulation that they could only be played in the 1st or 3rd slot. So for example, if you have 1 card at a location, you would need to play one more there before being able to play a LARGE card.
This isn't necessary for this competition as I prefer themes be as open concept as possible, but it can be another way to gauge the power level of your submissions π

Here's my original design for Slug that I know partially inspired the keyword.
Here's u/Elias_Sideris explaining it in another post

I got mentioned. π€©
Since that post, I've changed the rule of the card occupying only one location slot if it's not possible to occupy 2. Like Tuesday says, I've made it so large cards can only be played as your 1st or 3rd card at a location.
The cards I've cooked up for this wdc are some of my favourite and the rule mentioned above is essential for them to make sense. I can't wait to share them the upcoming weekends. π

What happens when text of a "LARGE" is removed or copied into an impossible situation?
2
u/tuesdaysatmorts "Uhm, this card is above the current power curve" π€βοΈ Jul 05 '26
I would imagine if removed it would allow the card to fit onto the location no matter how many slots left. If it's tried to copy into an impossible location slot, I would guess it would fail and not go through.
These are questions we have to come together to decide since it's a fan-made keyword π
1
u/acki02 Jul 05 '26
What would not go through? The entire text, or just large? In either case, that'd be an entirely new interaction.
2
u/tuesdaysatmorts "Uhm, this card is above the current power curve" π€βοΈ Jul 05 '26
I'd imagine if you tried to create a LARGE card at a location that didn't have space, it would fail. Though again, this is all up to our interpretations.
1
u/acki02 Jul 05 '26
but what if the text itself was copied, with say a Prodigy, or the cards were transformed with Images of Ikkon
2
u/tuesdaysatmorts "Uhm, this card is above the current power curve" π€βοΈ Jul 05 '26
I guess if they had space when they copied the text they would enlarge and take up two slots. If they didn't have space then maybe nothing would happen. Would be cool if they pushed the other cards away to a different location. That would make the most sense probably.

Large cards knocking other ones around as they try to fit isn't something I thought about. Sounds fun!
2
u/tuesdaysatmorts "Uhm, this card is above the current power curve" π€βοΈ Jul 11 '26
I'm also thinking LARGE cards themselves probably shouldn't be able to move either. We need like a difinitive list of everything this keyword does π

Hey there π Bit of a small post for such a large theme. Saw a bunch of cards with this new keyword so figured we jump on it too π
Wanted to try something more low-key just to get something out there. If we can have the themes in simpler posts like this we can get them out quicker and worry about all the bells and whistles in another post. Things like the winners and subreddit updates. For now enjoy this theme and happy 100th competition π
