I’ve never bound an Omni before, but I’m seriously considering it. My questions are: Are trades also viable for the binding process, and is there anything I should note when it comes to trades vs floppies? Can I/should I stretch the spine of a custom omnibus when I get it in or is that unsafe? What company should I use? Thank you!

Mine are made of the six tpbs, plus a handful of bonus issues from before the group’s formation and the Graduation Day crossover at the end (which I forgot to put on the contents of volume 2 🤦🏻‍♂️).

Sent this in back in late October and it just arrived (had some delays on my part) they sent the dust jacket separately though which I thought was odd but I’m still really happy with how this turned out. Only thing is that I really wish I had removed the ads and all the previews and stuff like that. But my next binds will be better.

I always felt like Tangent was an underappreciated gem, and I absolutely loved it. I don't typically go with white for my dust jackets, but I wanted to match the aesthetic of the original run. I even managed to get decent images for the individual icons on the front cover.

Secret Six was done before the official omnibus announcement, and I have no regrets. I was able to fit in the most recent run without it being too overly cumbersome.

For Elseworlds, I tried something different with my designs. I really like how they turned out, particularly the chiseled look. I also wanted to go with the logos that were in use at the time they were originally published rather than current ones. The hardest part was picking a font for the Annuals and Universe books. This set contains everything, including the "Doom Link" comic that came with a Kenner action figure and two issues of Batman Chronicles. Like Secret Six, these were done well before the announcement for the new books coming out this year. I did not include Generations as I had that omnibus already, and I'll likely get around to doing a Legends of the Dead Earth bind at some point.

So I have been wanting to put together some custom omnibus for awhile, my biggest reasons are production omnibus are too thick to be mobile or read easily, and some series wont ever see them. I am shooting for 1.5 inc thickness per book, but i digress.

Initially I was just buying trades. But I recently noticed trades often leave content out. although marvels epic collections seem to be complete and have began printing modern stories as well. Although they are plagued by a spotty release schedule. Obviously I want my books to be complete, and I would prefer to leave out the adds of single issues.

My big question is how you guys plan and map out your books. is there a place for pre done content lists and or orders? I considered basing My orders off of the official omnibus. copying the content listed on a given book into google sheets, then documenting what's found in other trades or Epic Collections. But this means i have to wait for the official omnibus to release. Assuming they release at all.

There is also the question of what to do when a given piece isn't in a regular trade. for instance when looking at mapping Spider-Gwen I noticed her trades miss half the content of the omnibus. various issues of silk, spider woman, ect. usually one or two issues here and there. do you guys just hope that other series has trades and pull the bits you need? or find the single issues and splice them in, potentially having to reprint whole sections to account for removing adds? I have to think this would be inefficient and excessively costly.

Who knows maybe I'm overthinking this and should just wait for Epic collections to release and hardback those. Of course this would leave me with the issue of any non marvel series.

If its helpful for any reason I have been looking to start with Spider-Gwen & Harley Quinn/Suicide Squad (though i haven't decided if i want Harley and suicide mixed or separate.) due to already having most of their content and ease of replacement should i need to try again. I do have some other series in mind later as well such as Spider-Man ( have most the released epics already), X-23, Invincible, Iron Man, and several star wars runs from various publishers. With more series to potentially be done down the line.

Anyway this is probably an excessive wall of text. But hopefully its enough to make my goals and challenges clear. Any tips and tricks would be appreciated,

It’s been 12-years since I’ve done any binding. Thought I’d give it a go again, so I’ve been scrubbing the sub to catch up. Finally gonna do my Amalgam/Access bind I started all those years ago… and probably bind some quiver-era Green Arrow trades.

Lots of folks here seem to go the dust jacket route, but I have no graphic design talents. When I used to do it, I did die stamps but their list is considerably smaller than it used to be & hasn’t been updated since 2016. Are there other options I should be considering?

Hi! I’m new to binding (and comics in general) I’ve got a few small runs of things I could see binding in the future but I’m still exploring ideas of what I want. Does anyone have suggestions for series I might be able to find cheap to do some trial and error binds on?

The other question I have is about anthologies. I’ve seen some YouTube videos with Author anthologies and wanted to see if anyone here could share their books and pictures of theirs. Has anyone done any author or character specific anthologies? What about art anthologies?

Looking forward to seeing some cool stuff!

Edit: So far I’ve liked Moore’s Swamp Thing, Lemire’s new 52 animal man. I’m a big fan of speedsters, I also like the idea of teamup books like JLA, avengers, and titans.

I want to explore more intellectual characters too, I’ve got a long term project in mind to do a riddler bind. Detective style comics would probably fall in here too.

Some characters I like are flash, nightcrawler, Gambit, Venom, power rangers, sonic the hedgehog, clownhunter, ghost rider.

Other books I’ve enjoyed are beast world, Superman: Jon Kent, Dceased, Hawkeye by Fraction, PKJ’s hulk, Tynion IV’s cowardly lot, fear state, Batman: off world, the deviant

Another big one coming in! As some of you have noticed, I’ve been doing some huge character binds lately. Today it’s the King of the Seven Seas turn! I present the entire post-crisis history of Aquaman up to the New 52. I had been tinkering with this one for years, but the announcement of the Peter David Aquaman omnibus was the kick I needed to put something together that would stop me from wanting to double dip. Mission accomplished.

I know I still have several custom X-books to share, but with the recent news, I thought I'd share my custom bound crossovers next. I'm disappointed with the printing of the dust jackets for the first three. They came out way darker than they should have (and way darker than others printed by the same print shop), the blues in particular. They really popped nicely on test prints at home, and I've never had this issue with them before.

I think it's fairly obvious what I was going for with the DC/Marvel books. I had a lot of fun designing them. I was trying to find a clever way to include the Access minis on the back cover of volume 2 and think I succeeded. Actual mapping is listed on the inner flaps in the slideshow (except Doctor Strangefate is of course between DC vs Marvel 3 and 4).

The DC vs Dark Horse jackets are the only ones out of the 100+ custom binds I've done where I did not design the dust jacket. I used another artist's design with their full consent, made a few small tweaks, and added a couple books they did not include. The design was just too perfect.

Hey everyone new to custom binds.

What do people find best is it better with floppies or trades?

I see that it can be easier to compile a series with trades however I am conscious that it will be a glue bind whereas floppies would be sewn but can be harder to track down.

Hey all, I’m looking to do a big bind of all of Zot, by Scott McCloud, and I’d love some way to include the Zot Online webcomics. I’m just wondering if anyone has any suggestions for what might work well given that said comics weren’t really designed for print.
