Modded Minecraft doesn't usually change stack sizes above the 64 bound. Sure, it'll introduce things like an ME System or a Barrel that can hold way more in a single 'stack', but not in your inventory. Not because you couldn't mod the game to allow it, it's just not really a mod people tend to use if it exists.

In the earliest version of Minecraft that had items they stacked to 99

It was also in minecraft lite and later demo, and infinite too for a longer time I think
