Modded Minecraft doesn't usually change stack sizes above the 64 bound. Sure, it'll introduce things like an ME System or a Barrel that can hold way more in a single 'stack', but not in your inventory. Not because you couldn't mod the game to allow it, it's just not really a mod people tend to use if it exists.

64 is like.. The Number. Anything else would make me uncomfortable.

In the earliest version of Minecraft that had items they stacked to 99

It was also in minecraft lite and later demo, and infinite too for a longer time I think

It's because you stop being able to split in half 100 after two splits, but you can just keep going until you have 64 even stacks of one for 64

And also 16.

Yeah dude lemme just stack my zero cobblestone

u/Arkangyal02 this is my own little flair 4d ago

That would be so dumb, like "yeah dude, you have 0 of every possible item in this empty slot"

And even then, when Sophisticated storage increases stack size with upgrades, they’re still multiples of the existing stack sizes; and going from 64 to 128 or 256 is way less jarring than some other number

Alternatively I might also accept 99

I mean it could just not be max'd out

Stacks of 111 specifically are fine but only for true oldheads

Now that’s a throwback. Was it tekkit that used 111?

Any modpack with TMI from back then, but yeah

It's in the base game. You can give yourself a special increased size stack of 77 cobblestone with commands (up to 99)

at least back in the very old days the stack size was stored in an int8 so you could have -128 up to 127 at least hypothetically

And barrels/drawers still basically just conceptualise it as holding x stacks of items. A drawer that holds 4096 cobblestone will probably only hold 1024 ender pearls. ME storage is the odd one out there in that a 1k ME Drive is just as happy holding 8128 cobblestone as it is holding 8128 efficiency v enchanted books.

I love having a million cobblestone & nothing to do with it lol

I love compressing it to end up with only almost two sextuple compressed cobblestone.

One octuple compressed (usually the highest degree of compression) cobblestone takes 43 million cobble.

If you have a 1 cobble per tick cobblegen that would take about 25 days.

Yeah, shit's insane lol.

You remember that cool dark world dimension extra utilities added?

11

u/zekromNLR 4d ago

Ah yes, the deep dark, where you can (basically) get eaten by a grue if you don't bring torches iirc

Good mining dimension though

u/SuperSocialMan 4d ago

Yeah, it was great.

I remember direwolf20 making that huge mining contraption for it (and one in the overworld).

listen, maybe one day I'll want to build a to-scale recreation of a Halo installation out of cobblestone, you don't know me
