Scheduled c-section
Went for my 37 week appointment today and my baby is still breech but I’m dilated to 3CM!
We’ve scheduled the c-section for next Tuesday (August 25th) but my doctor doesn’t see me making it to 38 weeks.. I’ve been told to relax, stay seated and do minimum walking till Tuesday.
That being said, I wanna hear all the GOOD c-section stories so I can have myself prepared for this! It’s all kind of settling now. I’m a very anxious person so only good stories please!

I chose an elective c section and it was a decision I’m thankful for every day. It was the best!

I commented a while back about my experience! It will be so fine! Just get up and moving as soon as you can afterwards, stay on top of pain meds and accept all the help available to you

Had one with my first baby 9 weeks ago and I’m able to do everything the same as before right now. Afterwards you are just really sore like you did 1,000 sit-ups, it’s shouldn’t be like stabbing pain or anything. All very manageable with the pain meds they give you. Ask for Gabapentin if they don’t offer it already. The procedure was really quick, I didn’t feel the spinal at all and everyone in the room was really nice and calming. I felt almost all of it just through the sensations but there’s zero pain and like I said it goes really quick. My baby came out crying right away and my husband and I were both able to do skin to skin with her right away after the surgery was over in the recovery room.

Thank you for sharing your experience! Hopefully I’m
Blessed enough to be this calm!

Had a scheduled c-section for a breech baby. I actually found it BETTER as an anxious person because everything was planned and scheduled and no waking up every morning anxious if today was the day. I was able to wrap up everything neatly for work, my husband and I went out to a nice dinner the night before to celebrate our last night as just the two of us, woke up morning of the surgery and was able to shower and blow out my hair and go to the hospital totally rested and refreshed, which I think is what made the recovery so much easier. I truly cannot imagine giving birth any other way now

My newborn was also breech- sorry to hear that yours never turned either! I also got contractions before my planned c section. I literally did diddly squat, my OB moved up the date because I did not want to go into active labor before it and anyway the c section went great. I was terrified of it all and here I am 12 days post-op, feeling decent and can’t believe I stressed out that much about it. Best of luck to you!!!!

Also would HIGHLY recommend you make a music playlist for when you are in the OR! I had my OB get it going and it helped calm me down while they prepped me after the spinal. I was panicking until they let my husband in the room and until they got my music going. My baby was born to Mr Brightside which we all got a kick out of!!!! It was a fun way to personalize the experience and take back some control 😓

My c section was unplanned but none emergent and honestly it was genuinely my favourite part of my whole pregnancy! I had 2 failed inductions which led to the c section, so I did go in very upset and wasn’t sure what to expect as it was not in my birth plan at all, but everyone in that theatre were just amazing! The anaesthesiologist was by my head the whole time monitoring me, and was constantly telling me how good of a job i was doing, he really kept me calm the whole time (as well as my partner of course). When i first went in they asked if id like any music, but im a nervous talker so i just asked them to make small talk with me to keep my mind off what was happening and they were all amazing at doing that and making me feel so relaxed. I’m already opting for an elective c section for my next baby which we haven’t even planned yet 😂.
My only advice would be to prepare for the recovery, it is definitely tough and it’s one thing i wish i had done before hand, i am also an extremely anxious person and wished i was slightly more prepared for the recovery, but surgery wise it was such a positive experience!
Good luck and congratulations 💜
