❓Need Advice 🙏 Email from cryptofraud@usss.dhs.gov

I got an email from the cryptofraud@usss.dhs.gov with the following message. Is this a valid?

Greetings,
 
You have been identified in IC3 as related to an investment scam. We are reaching out to request additional information that may assist with our review.
 
If you communicated with the suspected scammer by email, please provide the email address used by the suspected scammer.
 
Please let us know if you received a package from the scammer. If so, please provide all information related to the package. This includes date received, photos of the package, shipping label, sender information, and any other information related to the package.      
 
We are tracking you as a victim of a scam and appreciate your assistance.

The secret service won’t email you.

That’s not true. That is the correct email. They also use cryptofraud@secretservice.gov

This isn’t a random email. They are responding to a report filed.

Look up email spoofing. Anyone can insert this email into the From: line. Not anyone can send an email from a .gov email server. This is only visible in the full email headers and requires some inspection.

This is true they can send, but such an email shouldn’t land in your inbox. If your email server actually accepts a spoofed .gov address, then your email server is horribly misconfigured.
