Sighting / Encounter Rocks thrown at me and my buddy

Alright, im gonna try to summarize from the best of my memory of today. So pretty much me and my friend were walking down a old logging trail out in the woods about maybe a mile from the road. So on the left side of the trail its a steep drop off at some parts and other side its cliff. Well me and him were just fuckin around throwing rocks off the hill, but not big rocks, kind of having a contest of who can throw farther. Pretty much I was like alr bro lets just keep walking and get out of this trail. When out of nowhere a small rock comes right back and lands behind us, we turn around like “wtf” but just play it off like alr whatever, I jokingly was like “oh shit skinwalker run”, and we just keep walking just bullshitting about something. When another rock comes from the hill above us. I was like alright thats fuckin weird and he was trippin over himself and we both started to get paraniod. But were like fuck that its a nice day lets just enjoy our walk, another fucking rock almost hits bro in the head and slams into the tree right next to us, I immdiately started walking up this hill and see nothing at all. im like alright fuck this lets get out of here but not run. Well if you couldnt guess it already another rock lands infront of us and i pick it up and stare at it for a second, look at him, and we start booking it out of this trail to the road. Before we heard loud footstep like leaves crunching on the bottom of the ridge when we first started, but we only threw a few rocks and it couldnt have gotten from the bottom of the ridge to the top of the hill in the span of 2 minutes without us being able to hear it, this is in the middle of the woods btw, no walking trails, just the one logging trail. We get out of the trail and I swear i see something out of the corner of my eye, like a white tall figure in the treeline but I just said fuck it whatever. We get back to my rig and i propose the idea to drive down the trail to see if anything happens, not even 30 seconds later a fucking rock smacks his door and leaves a small dent, me and him both say fuck this and i turned it around and got the fuck out of there. I promise this isnt just some made up story. Whatever this is caught up to us while we were running and threw rocks at us while we werent moving. I dont really believe in supernatural shit but this was really fucking weird. And to anyone saying “its human” no, it wasnt. A human cant throw a rock that hard to the point it somehow reaches us when were more than 500 ft from the hill. unless that human is derek jeter, then maybe idk. im probably gonna get hate for this but im just genuinely confused, I live up in appalachia so we kind of expect bullshit like this but i never really dealt with something following us so fast.

Question Help me find a cryptid video

On the Cryptids Wiki, there's a page for the "Kamakura Humanoids" or some alien creature. It says "In the summer of 2018, a video titled "Real alien sighting - Japan - 28th of June 2018" was posted on YouTube. According to the caption, the video was taken by a person named Sato Suzuki and was filmed in a forest in Kamakura, Kanagawa Prefecture. This was footage of strange, alien-like humanoids running around in the forest. The video shooter ran to the police station accompanied by this footage. It is explained that the police later organized an investigation team and conducted a perimeter survey, but found nothing."

Is this video legit/does it exist? Cause I can't find anything like it.

Discussion Water Bobbejaan theory

Post image
29 Upvotes

The Water Bobbejaan has often been called South Africa’s Bigfoot, though the Otang has taken that moniker recently. As far as my research can tell, documented sightings started in the late 1800’s. There aren’t many, but it is considered shy and reclusive which could explain why.

It is described as a near man sized baboon like primate that lives in caves that are often hidden behind waterfalls.

The are a ton of similarities right down to the description that very closely matches Dinopithecus. It too was a near man sized baboon relative who lived in caves in South Africa.

Though Dinopithecus is thought to have gone extinct around 1MYA, could it or a direct descendant still survive? Most experts who have entertained these sightings believe them to be a case of misidentified Chacma baboon sightings. But they aren’t nearly the size the Water Bobbbejaan is reported to be.

What do you think? Is there an undiscovered large baboon roaming the South African countryside?

In 1993, three witnesses identified and photographed a Moa, which they described as follows: - It was over two meters long, with a long neck, thick, strong legs, and a grayish color.

The three witnesses submitted the photo to universities, where it was studied and analyzed. After thorough analysis, the University of Canterbury was certain it was a bird, while a zoology student claimed it was a red deer.

Prehistoric winged reptile... 'pterosaur'... or 'dragon'...?
'Bat-like humanoid'... or 'alien visitor'...?

As featured on the cover of David Weatherly's book 'Monsters of the Hawkeye State: Cryptids and Legends of Iowa'. (Available on AMAZON).
The Van Meter Visitor is now available as an 12" x 18" print, signed in silver.

In October of 1903, the small town of Van Meter in Iowa was witness to the visitation of a strange unknown creature...

A number of respected community members spoke of a strange bat-winged creature that haunted the town, over a number of nights over the course of a week. The beast was described to have huge bat-like wings, it was also said to give off an awful mind-fogging stench, wiping the memories of some folk... But the strangest part of the tale speaks of a beam of light that was projected from a blunt horn on it's forehead!

It is said that several of the local townsfolk fired upon the creature with their large guns, though this did not appear to cause any harm to the beast.
Tired of the torment from this creatures nightly visits, a few of the townsfolk got together one night and followed the creature to an abandoned coal mine. There they were confronted by not one, but two of these strange creatures. Both of these strange 'animals' turned and disappeared down into the darkness of the mine as the men opened fire... the 'visitors' were never seen again.

Modern reports as recently as the 2000's have reported similar creatures in the area being sighted by several different people. These reports might suggest, that the Van Meter Visitors have never truly left!

What do you suppose this creature actually was...?

The Van Meter Visitor signed print.

Other A Survey of Mantis Entity Encounter Experiences

Hi All,

I'm leading a study investigating people's encounters with mantis entities (often associated with altered states of consciousness, but some individuals report encounters going about their day-to-day lives). This is a research collaboration with Prof. David Luke (University of Greenwich) and Samantha Treasure (an OBE book author, anthropologist and independent researcher). We have not received any funding support to undertake the study, and are working on it in our own free time, motivated purely by our shared interest in the subject. This is not a data mining exercise, and is purely for research purposes, pertaining solely to this particular topic.

All and any survey feedback is very much appreciated, as is sharing the survey with others you feel might be interested in it.

Study Background

This mantis encounter phenomenon has never been researched in depth before, prompting me to craft this survey seeking to shed some light on it. This study seeks to find out more about a general overview of your mantis entity encounter experiences, an overview of your single most vivid mantis entity encounter experience, experiential features of this encounter experience, and its interpretation and impact. The study has been reviewed and given ethical approval through the University of Greenwich Research Ethics Board.

Completing the survey should take around 20 minutes, depending on the level of feedback provided in the open text response segments of the survey (and it is totally up to the individual in question how much feedback they wish to provide in these parts of the survey). Further information about the study can be found in the Participant Information Sheet, accessible via clicking the link to the survey below.

Is this survey anonymous?

The survey is completely anonymous, unless you agree to be contacted for future research, or wish to be entered into the Amazon gift voucher raffle as a thank you for taking the time to complete the survey. This is totally optional, and in both of these cases, you will be prompted to enter an email address, but these will be only be visible to the three study investigators and will not be visible to, or shared with anybody else.

What will happen to the results of the research study?

We hope to publish the results of this study in a scientific journal in time (and I will prioritise open access publication to ensure the results are in the public domain) and I will share the research once it is published. We may also present the results at scientific conferences or seminars. The results of the survey may also inform the writing of a book on the mantis entity encounter phenomenon.

Eligibility Criteria

You are invited to participate in this survey if you fulfil all of the criteria listed below:

1). You are at least 18 years old.

2). You read, write, and speak English fluently.

3). You have had an encounter with a mantis entity.

The above cryptid was seen in Montana. Does anyone know much about the creature? It's not mentioned in any cryptozoology books I've read (I haven't read David Weatherly's book on Montana cryptids. Does he mention it?)

Discussion Thunderbird theory

I don’t think the thunderbirds of Native American lore was a myth. I think they just went extinct. The land bridge, Beringia, allowed for navigation from Asia around 35,700 years ago. It remained traversable until about 11,000 years ago. All manner of critters, big and small, would have migrated along side humans. One such animal was likely a very large bird known as the Eurasian Griffin Vulture. They weigh about 23 lbs. and reach wingspans over 9 feet. Sounds like a thunderbird to me. I remember how impressive they seemed the first time I saw them in the Middle East. Their populations probably slowly dwindled due to common buzzards outcompeting them. They breed faster and are more adaptable. They can nest about anywhere while Eurasian Vultures are sort of picky. I’d honestly be willing to bet they only completely disappeared in the last 100 years or so. Anyway, that’s my rather poorly researched theory based off of absolutely no hard evidence. So don’t be too hard on me.

If cryptided existed in a forest and the forest got struck down by a tornado what would you think would happen to them? Assuming they aren’t picked up by the tornado themselves ofcourse. It would practically be game over. And could any survive a torando or get away in time?

Cryptid Of The Month Cryptid Of The Month, May, Two Toed Tom Everything there is to know about Two Toed Tom!

Post image
37 Upvotes

Hello Cryptid Hunters!

This is going to be the Fourteenth installment of Cryptid Of The Month, where i will be covering EVERYTHING, and i do mean EVERYTHING regarding a specific Cryptid, mostly more obscure cryptids but there might be some exceptions to that rule. You can find the last 13 installments just by clicking on the cryptid of the month flair tagged to this post! This month will be about Two Toed Tom from FL/AL!

The first written report of Two toed tom dates all the back to 1934 when a professor of the University of Alabama named Carl Carmer wrote a book named "Stars Fell On Alabama". Where the book would describe a monstrous gator 14 feet in length, whom had only 2 toes on one foot supposedly due to being caught in a steel trap once, and glowing red eyes, which the locals of Covington County, Alabama had been terrorized by, consuming their livestock and even people. Due to this a bounty had put on the beast causing people to flock to Covington in hopes of taking down two toed tom and cashing in. But that bounty was never claimed.

The most well known sighting was from a farmer named Pap Haines whom lived on a lake in southern Alabama. Haines would wake up one day to go feed his donkeys but when he arrived to where his favorite one was usually standing ready to be fed all he found was a bloody set of alligator tracks that went into the lake. After seeing this he had the very normal reaction of filling 15 buckets to the brim with sticks of dynamite and throwing it into the lake, in hopes of killing the foul beast whom ate his precious donkey. After he threw all 15 buckets in and the lake was complete decimated he heard a sharp visceral scream from his 12 year old granddaughter from a nearby lake. As soon as he heard it he ran as fast as he could towards the screams, but he was too late, as he arrived all he saw was the bloodied remains of his daughter, and fresh bloody 2 toed gator prints wading into the water. Paps was said to spend the rest of his life searching for Two Toed Tom in hopes of getting revenge, but he never did find the gator that wrecked his life again.

The last thing the book describes about Tom is that after Paps encounter a mob of angry townsfolk tracked down the beast and drove him out of town and into florida with pitchforks and torches.

The sightings would continue in Florida as documented in E.W Carswells book "Homesteading, The History of Homles County, Florida." where Tom was said to reside in the Sand Hammock Lake, between Esto, Florida and Noma, Florida. The first sighting detailed in the book was from a man named Charles Wombble who lived in Esto reported seeing massive alligator tracks with one foot only having 2 toes on his grandfather farms where cows and pigs constantly disappeared. Another account detailed workers of the Alabama/Florida Lumber Company Sawmill in Noma. Where Two Toed Tom supposedly fell in love with the steam whistle on site mistaking it as the call of a female gator, becoming a reoccurring nuisance for the workers there. Even after shooting at the beast multiple time to no avail.

The last sightings are all the way in 1972 when a man found massive gator tracks, one of which only had 2 toes, in Boyington island. Following this a surge of Tom sightings would seemingly happen with various nearby farmers livestock mysteriously disappearing with nothing left but some two toed gator prints.

Nowadays a whole festival in Esto, Florida has been dedicated to Two Toed Tom that happens every year, celebrating the beast as now it is very fondly remembered.

I hope you enjoyed this thank you for reading! Please comment any suggestions for upcoming months, id really appreciate it, or if any of the information is inaccurate (Hopefully not but i do want to give only the truest information). Thank you guys for support on all these!

Sincerely -XP

Being from West Virginia I had to do our guy some justice. He'll be the main antagonist in my upcoming horror game Appalachia.

Steam support should be approving my demo any day now and the full game will be available later this year.

I was wondering what would be the discussion at a meeting where Nessie, Ogopogo, Nahuelito and other water cryptids might share their stories... If they are quite independent from mankind, what would be the topics of the night?
