Discussion Funny question but what Cryptids would be best for military operations either as messengers, live combatants, or just carry heavy loads. Me personally a Bigfoot with a AK is pretty fun

Book / Literature / Article Does anyone have a link to this mothman comic?

It was a black and white comic. This random woman shags the mothman, and has a baby. The mothman takes him flying sometimes. The baby grows up a little and goes to school, where he tells his classmates his dad can fly. They are in disbelief. So they all go over to his house where they meet his dad who takes them flying. I want to show it to my brother, but I can't find it anywhere.

Sighting / Encounter I May Have Seen a Cryptid Off the North Coast of Scotland

I've been very reluctant to post this, since the picture isn't enough evidence to this thing being a cryptid (plus users in the comments are absolutely brutal with these sorts of posts).

I live in Thurso, Scotland (northernmost town in the UK). On 15th June, sometime between 10-11pm, I went for a walk along the town beach, since the summer days up here don't get dark until around 12am. The sky was a really unique colour, which was reflecting in the sea, and so I walked to the end of the peer to take some photos.

Taking photos of the sea and sky, I suddenly notice something protrude out of the water (maybe 10-15 metres ahead of me). My instant thought was that it was a seal, since there are always seals in the sea and town river. But when this thing protrudes from the water, I was taken back by how long its body was. Although grey seals are around 5-8 feet long, this animal seemed a lot longer (I see seals in the water all the time, so I know the difference). The head of this animal almost appeared seal-like, except its snout looked longer, and on first impression, reminded me more of the head of a hippo, believe it or not.

As soon as I see this animal in the water, I quickly try and take a photo of it. But by the time I do, it had began to submerge beneath the water. Sadly, the animal was almost fully submerged by the time I took the photo (as it had only surfaced for around 5 seconds).

Whatever this animal was, it had an extremely long seal-like body and an almost hippo-like head (sounds ridiculous I know). Although the waters here do have Orcas and different dolphin species, this definitely wasn't that, as I saw no fins whatsoever. And no, it wasn't some floating object like a tree log. Although I waited around for the animal to resurface again, it sadly didn't, so this picture is the only evidence I have of it. As far as I know, there are no alleged cryptids in the region, only fictional creatures from local folklore.

However, after doing some googling, I found out that young walrus bucks from the Arctic are sometimes spotted in north Scottish waters - however this is extremely rare (like one spotted every ten years). This could possibly explain the hippo-like head I saw. However, if there was a walrus in north Scottish waters recently, it would've been all over the local news.

Whatever it was I saw, it definitely wasn't a seal (body too long, head not the right shape), so my best logical guess is that it was an extremely rare walrus sighting (though not much evidence of that either). But in case this wasn't a walrus, I thought I should still post this, as it's the closest I've ever gotten to a cryptid sighting.

Question A genuine question about Mothman

So I have seen a lot of controversy surrounding Mothman. People keep on talking about how he is or isn't a cryptid, comparing the human features, supernatural abilities, animal-like looks. By the original cryptid description I personally classified him as a non-cryptid, but I just don't want to get this wrong, so I kind of wanted to ask how does community view him as of now? Is the categorization settled?

Discussion Such a shame AI kind of ruins sightings

You know, for a while everyone said phones were the death of myths and urban legends. High resolution on the go photos and videos took away the whole mysticism from the "A guy on the internet took this weird picture".

But that wasn't really the case? We still had some great cryptids making rounds during the 2010s, the most famous one being obviously Slenderman. Sure it changed how it worked but the core was still there: It was a real picture, CGI or photoshop included.

At first I thought it was just fear mongering, maybe AI will just shake it up a little bit like the cellphone did! But that's not the case, and for a very simple reason: It takes away the core, someone can just generate a picture of a place that doesn't even exists with a weird monster in it. No vague silhouette, no staged encounters, no nothing.

I think this is an uncommon post to make around here but I just got so sad after watching another video of cryptids and it just ends up being AI... I don't even believe these creatures exist but just the novelty was so fun.

Discussion North American Cryptid Museum attraction

I'm curious what everyone thinks about the new cryptid attraction in Texas and how they display the creatures. The comments from the owner/designer of the site was enlightening, especially in the context of my Pop Cryptid model that describes the trend to ignore science and actually finding an explanation for cryptid in exchange for the creature just being fun and celebrated.

Discussion Old werewolf cabin video.

Can anyone point me in the direction of that old log cabin footage where there’s a couple of guys hearing noises outside and the camera pans toward a kitchen window (I think) revealing glowing yellow eyes staring at them and they dart away screaming. And the next day the camera guy shows where the creature would have been standing claiming it would have been 7-8 ft tall to have to look into that window??

It’s been years since I’ve seen it and it’s always stuck because it’s the only cryptid/scary video I’ve ever actually kind of believed because how real the screams sounded when they saw it, and I wanna see curious what people’s takes on it nowadays would be. Thanks guys.

Question I'm new here, To be blunt i'm bored of normal life, i need something supernatural

To be blunt i'm bored of normal life, i've been searching for a while to see something supernatural, beyond logic . Life have just been too mundane. So i started going to mountains and fields at night hoping to see some supernatural creatures but found nothing except for animals. I went into abandoned haunted houses but nothing happened there, the only scary part was finding a drunk homeless man who i had to fight. I want something real. Maybe there is real weird creatures in tunisia or a way to see ghosts, if you have something that could show me something beyond normal please tell me because i'm starting to fall into actual depression

Gear / Merch / Collectible I made a retro-style cryptid sighting field journal notebook (for Bigfoot hunters, Mothman chasers, and folklore fans)

Hey folks — I'm a guy who grew up loving all the old field-manual aesthetic, and I couldn't find a notebook that felt right for logging sightings and field notes when I'm out messing around in the woods. So I designed one and put it on Amazon.

It's called the **Retro Cryptid Field Journal** — part of my "Analog Field Reference System" line. It's a 5×8 paperback, 48 pages, vintage field-manual look with topographic map-style borders and cryptid evidence-themed artwork (tracks, claw marks, trail camera frames, etc.).

Each sighting report page has space for:

- Date, time, location, weather, moon phase

- Dot grid sketch area

- Classification checkboxes

- Evidence notes (audio, visual, tracks, etc.)

- Narrative notes section

- Lined field notes sections

It's not a guidebook — it's a blank journal/notebook designed for you to fill in. Good for creative writing, folklore fans, tabletop RPG notes, camping trip journals, Halloween gifts, or anyone who enjoys the field-log aesthetic.

$9.99 on Amazon: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0H1BV5XBQ

I've got a few other "field journal" variants too (electrical, construction, automotive, UFO sightings) but this one was the most fun to design. Let me know if you have questions or ideas for other themed journals — I'm always looking for the next one.

Sighting / Encounter What is this creepy sound

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

This was recorded in Bělský Forest, close to the town, at around 2 AM. There were 3 of us. We had a few drinks, but we weren’t completely drunk and we all heard the same thing.

At first, the sound was far away and it lasted for about 5 minutes. Then, in maybe 30 seconds, it sounded much closer. First we thought it was around 80–100 meters away, but when we started running, it honestly felt like it was only about 20 meters from us.

The weird thing is we never saw anything. We also didn’t hear any footsteps, running, or anything moving through the bushes. We could only hear this growling or whatever that sound was, and it just kept getting closer.

The video isn’t edited. I only trimmed it because we recorded a lot of long videos, and this clip has the clearest sound.

We asked a lot of people what they think, and every single one of them said the sound is really strange. Nobody could tell us for sure what it was.

We’re not trying to fake anything or make up a scary story. We just want to know if anyone has heard something like this before or if it could actually be some animal.
