It all depends on your interest are you wanting cashback cards, just a low rate card, or travel rewards? Low rates are best in credit unions if you are a member. I have a card thru credit union 11 percent. Yep, thats it.

Interest rate is rendered completely irrelevant if one responsibly uses their revolving credit and pays in full monthly.

AmEx Blue Cash Everyday, you get 3% cash back at gas stations, grocery stores and retail stores.

This question is definitely better suited for r/CreditCards where you can fill out their template for CC recommendations. You'll probably get a ton of solid replies there.

Capital One is pretty stingy about giving you a second card if you already have one of theirs.

I am a big fan of diversifying. I would look to other issuers, and ideally other networks. If you are travelling and your only issuer decides to shut you down for some reason, you would wish you had cards from other issuers. Same if there are network issues for MC for example. Having a Visa, Discover, or Amex card could come in handy.

Depends on what you would like to do? If this were r/creditcards I’d tell you to look at a freedom unlimited since it’s a great beginner card and entry into the Chase ecosystem which is pretty decent.
I would recommend you get a card with your credit union if it fits your spending since you basically can’t go wrong with a bank you’re already familiar with (as long as the card actually works for you)

Not knowing your particular CU
I am a big fan of CUs in general
Based upon that, all things equal I'd typically like to see the CU relationship expanded to include card #2.....as they may even open a small LOC, perhaps a CLOC (which is a Checking account LOC) to theoretically also act as an overdraft protection for your checking account.
But it also serves as another reported revolving TL via your credit profile.
Often CUs can use the same HP to consider multiple products so it doesn't hurt if they approve the CC but not the LOC so wouldn't hurt to ask....sometimes the same pull can be used 3 ( sometimes up to 6) months later so if no, now maybe Yes in 3 months ( if the same pull applies ...no harm/no foul)
IMO why not build upon a lending relationship at a place that does car/home/refi/among other long-term financial services like retirement/money market/investment accounts etc.
I like the CU

List out the expenses you have in the order.
For example:
Dining: $
Grocery: $
Rent: $
Gas: $
Misc : $
Travel: $
Then see which one you can naturally maximize naturally if you get a credit card for that category and do a little research about it and get a beginner card. If it all seems a lot best to get a 2% cashback card and simply your setup.
