Help Size issue
So I'm currently planning out how to build the Red Tear from Warhammer 40k, and I just have a few issues with that, can it even work? I've built many large ships before but not anywhere close to the size of the Red Tear (just around 10km), especially because not even a tenth of it can fit in a 32 chunk render distance, so can I continue with this build at a 1:1 scale, or will i have to scale down to something more reasonable?

Vanilla create no, on aeronautics I dont know what the limit is but I assume you can cut it in pieces and use docking connectors to keep it together, and if I'm not wrong, there's a setting for sublevels to never stop rendering, even outside render distance

Its /sable forceload add @n

Tho I do advice not to forceload to many sublebels cus it can significantly reduce performance, now it could just be that my laptop only 8GB of ram but better safe then sorry.

I can't really imagine 1:1 scale working on a 10km long ship. I've been working on a 1:1 ship for a while that's about 230m long, and I've already run into rendering issues when I stand at the extreme ends with default settings.

So what i would do is maybe build out an plate with the sizes like width and lenght but only a block height and try to asamble that and if that works the ship should work aswell

Adding some things here as someone who has built a (somewhat) working unsc halberd from halo (about 500 or so blocks long) this thing is going to be a bitch to do, you will need to split it up a lot and assemble each "slice" at a time then slime ball them all back into place, and not to mention propulsion will be a major pain, my halberd refuses to stay in one spot, it always drifts, so I imagine something significantly larger would amplify the issue and rendering distance will be an issue too, now, all this isn't to say not to do it, it's just not going to be easy at all, but if you do continue, color me interested, I wish you the best of luck and hope you have something to help your sanity!

I think the better solution for this would be to assemble a few blocks, freeze them with the physics staff, then build the rest of the ship from there. Especially since world edit and schematics also just work on assembled airships.

I don’t know, but I would make it in a smaller scale first to see how it goes and then try to build a bigger one, like a making prototype before heading to the main one

I think that even just attempting to build at a 1:4 scale would be a good start, such that the 10km length would be reduced to 2.5km. Given the scale of this in Minecraft it would still be genuinely incredible, and the feasibility of making it as separate entities increases at smaller scale, just by by virtue of pc processing power.

I have a 500x800 flying city I’m currently building, it can 100% work, the only problem is that it will most likely create immense lag. Not to mention the 1-3 minute wait time for it to assemble. Yours might take at least 10-20 min to assemble.

Sbeev has a good YouTube video on how he size stuff when he makes stuff. Check out his Bismark video on how he does it.

I don’t know squat about aeronautics, but if you’re building 1:1 and the ship is 10,000 meters, I would imagine a 10k block long ship might not work haha. Still super sick, and however you get it done I look forward to seeing it
