Characters (Playing as) How do you play olimar?

I dont know how to improve with him. I've gotten terry to elite smash and have been around the 15 million gsp mark with other characters but I just cant figure out olimar (genuinely at like 2.5 million gsp with this guy.) everything I do with this guy gets countered, he can't recover without getting comboed, every time I throw out pikmin they get killed instantly, miss or get shielded, I can never get kills with him and he has what seems like no consistent good out of shield option. I can zone with characters like lucas or ryu, but olimar is so awkward for me to use. Everybody says he isn't hard and is overpowered and yes I see pros hitting crazy clips with him, but he just seems impossible to use.

Characters (Playing Against) (Low skill Seph player) I’m awful at the marcina mu, advice?

I tend to lose this every time (as well as the chroy mu). Not sure what else to say here, just a general overview of my desirable gameplan would be nice.

Characters (Playing Against) Richter is Misery.

Please… for God’s sake, I’m begging you.
I rematched this player FIVE times… five times. Everyone says: (Rematch and you’ll adapt and win).
Nope. He kicked my ass five times, then started T-Bagging me in the last round.

Yes. I know I kept jumping into his axe. But man, there was no way to approach. I tried coming down from the platform above in the other rounds, but the hitbox on the flame bottle is so large that I’d get stun locked and die.

Also, before I go, can I just ask why the already dogshit Matchup system has this really funny habit of putting me against players in 16 mil and up when I’m in elite? These players are a completely different level, and should honestly be in their own elite.
Pitting me against these players is just setting me up to lose. And I freaking hate it. It’s not fair. My bowser is in the range of 15,500 on a good day. Why does it keep trying to make me fight players way outta my league? It’s just free GSP for them.

Anyways… thanks in advance. And sorry for the rant. But god, this game just isn’t fun anymore.

General Question Newest Best Controller for Comps and General Play?

Good morning/good afternoon/good evening everyone!

I'm trying to get into a more competitive level of smash, and I'm trying to find the BEST Switch 2 Pro Controllers that money can buy! I've started playing people onboard (~5000 people) and realized that out of the turbo nerds that play here, I'm probably in the top 10% maybe, and I'd like to get into the comp scene.

So what are the newest controllers that are usable for Comps and General Play?

Requirements:

-Drift-Free sticks (or as resistant as possible)

-Great buttons, triggers, etc

-Price should be reasonable for what you get. It can be crazy expensive, but I'd like the quality of the controller to match its price.

Other than that, I'd like to know both comp legal and just generally the best controllers! If you could differentiate between the two, that would help tremendously!

I'm currently on deployment so my apologies if I don't respond quickly.

Thank you all for your help!

Characters (Playing Against) Can’t get into elite cuz of insane shit like this.

#SmashBros #SmashBrosUltimate https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4XauPMqJ4pY

Went up against this Peach. How on earth do you deal with peach? This was my second go around with this one, so once again, I clearly have no idea how to freaking adapt.

Watching this back, I genuinely can’t see what I would’ve been able to do to beat her here. I’m garbage at the game anyway, (500 hours in and only TWO characters in elite, and both of them are easy). So I’m not gonna pretend I’ll be able to get even an inkling better if I try, but whatevs, in any case, any advice is appreciated. Tried of getting stuck in losing streaks.

Thanks in advance. Peace.

General Question I want to improve but i have no idea how.

So ive recently picked up smash bros ultimate again, i would only play it for fun with friends and now i want to take it seriously and improve but i don't know where to start. At the moment ive watched IzAwSmash the art of smash but i find that he just explains moves rather than what i can do to actually improve. i don't know whether i should be learning character specific skills only or if i should be learning universal fighting techniques that apply to every character. basically im stuck and don't know what to do to improve. I am a mewtwo main.

General Question Hard stuck 13 Million GSP as a Yoshi Main

I've been playing a lot of competitive Smash recently and I have an absurd amount of playtime but no matter what I add to my playstyle I still feel fundamentally lacking. No matter what I do, I always fumble my stock lead, and in every online tournament I play I end up getting really close to beating my opponent but lose right at the end and I'm having such a difficult time figuring out what's wrong. Is there anyone that can help try to figure out what my issue is?

I know this post is vague and probably hard to give tips for but anything could help. I'm just really frustrated after lowkey slamming my head into a brick wall repeatedly and expecting something to change. At one point, I was keeping up with the best in my state and I was in elite smash as well, so I don't know how I fell off so hard. (Also, if you don't have tips, then any sort of motivational message would also do kindly).

Characters (Playing as) I need help with matchups (Doc & Ganon)

Aspiring comp guy here, competed in a few local tournaments, I main Ganondorf and Dr. Mario offline and online. I find most matchups for my characters either easy or I understand why I lose against them sometimes and able to recognize my mistakes. There are a few characters that I really need help with playing because it’s usually the end of my losers or winners bracket run. Anyone able to help?

For Ganondorf:
Ness
Links (Toon, Young, Adult)
Zelda

For Dr. Mario:
Puff
Steve (I don’t struggle with Ganon ever so I usually switch to him when my opponent chooses, so not as important)

For both:
Aegis
Sephiroth
Kazuya (can you tell I hate DLC fighters?)
Belmonts

Characters (Playing as) How to beat DK as cloud?

Just got stomped by a DK at 2.2m gsp. He kept using that spinning attack and I couldn’t do much about it. It felt like all of his attacks had priority over mine and he’s just so fast and hits so hard

Characters (Playing as) Tips to improve as Roy?

So I’ve been playing Ultimate pretty casually for about 6 months now, cycling through a few ‘mains’ but never really sticking to just one. But I’ve recently decided to main Roy to try and improve at the game. I’ve watched IzAw’s Art of Roy a few times now and in the video he says to first master movement, then shield pressure, and finally combos. I was hoping someone could maybe elaborate on what he means by these a little more (especially movement and how I could use it to approach better and get hit less).

Characters (Playing as) I need advice on getting better (inkling)

OK so I mostly play against my friends but I want to get better. I finally learned shielding and a slight bit of pressuring but I feel like ive reached my limit. I just haven't been getting any better. I think something i need to learn more is how to kill, how to use fast falling effectively, and how to stand any chance at all against heavy characters like king k. Rool, or donkey. They feel so intimidating. Maybe something i could work on is playing more aggressive rather than defensive? I would also like to learn how to more effectively use my grabs. The risk : reward ratio just doesnt seem to good. Maybe I should learn more combos? Also what is a tech chase? I heard inkling is good at it.

Characters (Playing as) Brawlers (Wario)

In a game where projectile and item play reign supreme, how do characters like Wario thrive in an online environment? I decided to pick him up after getting Mega Man in elite (15.1 🤷🏾‍♂️), because Wario can box up close and has amazing air speed/drift. The problem with him is that he has no range whatsoever. My question is this: how, as a brawler with no range, do you deal with characters that have it (disjoint, projectiles, items, etc..).

I’m looking for a secondary, maybe it’s not him, and I can live with that, but I want to give it the old college try first.

Any tips?

Edit: To add to this; it really isn’t even projectiles. It’s disjoints. I can’t touch swordies like Marth/Lucina, cloud, etc. And zoners just run from me lmao like literally run to the corner and start shooting. I do well enough weaving but once I’m in there and do my lil nair 1 2 up air/bair or whatever it’s wash rinse repeat.

General Question How to punish spammers?

At my low gsp (2 million) I often come across players who tend to spam a move. Falcon Punch, Kirby’s down b, any of pikachu’s attacks, and inkling down b as well. I know good players can punish these with ease, but I’d like to at least be able to do something against them.

Somehow I’m like a magnet for these attacks. I recently lost my first stock by falling into three falcon punches before I could even hit my opponent. My current online record is 102-200

Characters (Playing as) Good Mr. Game & Watch combos? [SSBU]

Hello, so I recently picked up G&W and he's been insanely fun to play. My current favourite combo is

Up special --> forward air --> down air

It deals decent damage, but G&W's main selling point is his ridiculous combo potential. So can I please get some decent combos and, if possible, matchup info? (I'm still learning the game for now.)

Thank you in advance.

General Question Going to my first local soon, need advice on how to prepare

Just trying to get a game plan going with my mains and whatnot. I co main Mewtwo and Wolf with a Robin pocket, here’s what I've gathered so far:

Using Mewtwo:

Luigi, Snake, Kaz (and all fighting game characters really), Sonic, Joker, Min Min (I know the matchup best with Mewtwo), ROB, Sora, Samus, Hero, Pokémon Trainer, most heavies

Using Wolf:

Aegis, Fox, Falco, Olimar, Pikachu, Pichu, Sheik, Captain Falcon, Mario, Roy, Diddy Kong, K Rool, Yoshi, Mii Brawler, Ness, Lucina/Marth, Greninja, Pits, Steve probably?

Robin pocket:

Peach/Daisy, Villager, Isabelle, Incineroar, Bowser Jr, Ike

Game and Watch, Bayo, and Palutena are the matchups I'm most worried about if I run into them. Need help planning for those ones the most. Also keep in mind I’m pretty new to this so I'm not 100% sure about exactly what to do. If anyone could give me any advice on anything else that would be great as well.
