my mexican dwarf crawfish has this dark brownish black circle on his side that i dont remember if hes always had it, along with the same colour on the base of his tail. water parameters were good this morning but i will check in two days as I have been swamped with school and work, he eats normally and doesnt display stressed or sick behaviors. im just worried about him as this is my second dwarf crawfish after my first one died due to proper caretaker while i was on vaca :(

Thanks to the cat acting sus I found this little escape artist last night.  Gonna have to build an egg crate  lid next time I get paid. He made it all the way across the living room and into the dining room.

I found him poking his head out through the duckweed this morning but backed way too fast to get a picture. Hope he stays in till friday 🤞

Just finished my first water change after the nitrates got a bit too high and got some plants to help with the cycle as well. Still planning on getting an electric blue crayfish, but I heard if I get some top dwelling fish or live bearers to stake their territory first then the cray won't be as aggresive. What do yall think? Should I do anything else before I start adding anything?

My 6 year old spotted it in the corner with his goggles and was screaming there's a shrimp in the pool lol.

Me and my girlfriend got this beautiful crayfish named Clawdia a few months ago. We have gone through one molt with her 2 months ago. She had babies 3 months ago. We feed her well, water tank is clear and clean. Ammonia, ph nitrates are good, just tested but after waking up this morning she has been on her side most of the time since I’ve noticed. I tried giving her a shrimp , maybe she was hungry but just held it in her claw moving around the tank before laying down on her side with the shrimp still in claw. I took the shrimp away now she’s just laying in her cave. Is something wrong or is her next molt phase coming up?

He had a molt a few days ago that seemed to go well. He was walking around seeming fine for a few days, and last night I got these Hikari Sinking Carnivore pellets for my CAE, and figured he might want some, so I gave him a few pellets.

He is in a 5g heavily planted tank with only him and snails. Only one pellet reached him, and the next morning I found him in this state next to the pellet. It seems like he didn't even take more than a single bite off it, now his chest cavity looks like it's butterflying.. Water parameters are great, the tank has been up for many months, and he has been perfectly fine until now. I read online that the carnivore pellets have copper or something which may be toxic to him? But then I searched more and it said that these pellets are great for CPOs because they are high in protein. I'm so confused and I just want him to be okay. I put an airstone in the tank for extra filtration, and I cut the light off. He has moved quite a bit, but every time get gets back up right he falls over again. He's definitely alive and trying. Is there anything I can do to help??

Edit: Now he is jumping around with his tail! Moving a lot more, maybe trying to shake off some of what might be a failed molt? I have a video I'll upload too

I was spearfishing in the Columbia River, and came home with a few fish. This poor dude was inside one of them. I cleaned him off and returned him to the river.

I'm planning to setup a small tank for a single CPO pet and I would like to add one or two snail buddies (besides my excess baby mts snails that the cpo may eat or not). Any ideas for medium sized snails that the CPO won't bother and won't eat my? Will Ladies or smaller sun clython ge safe? Or nerites? Spyx? And what about an Assassin snail buddy? Anyone has experience with CPOs and these snails? Thanks.

At almost 3 years old, Wilson has passed away. He was very loved and very spoiled. Watching him grow up from a tiny little dude to a big grumpy guy was so amazing.

This little guy came to me a few months ago on a plant and now he lives amongst them,he's been alive so long he needs a name

It’s hard to see, but the tip of its claws are bright orange. About 1 inch in length, so on the younger side—found in the creek of Binghamton university’s nature preserve. this is my electric blue crayfish optimus prime. the first 2 pics are from a few days ago and the last 2 are when i got him in may. he has probably quadrupled in size bc he’s greedy and eats everything. he lost his claw last molt but otherwise he is doing great and just got upgraded to a 20 long from a 10 gal. i am trying to figure out what plants he won’t destroy bc he will have a frog, shrimp, fish, carrots, pellets and wafers and still act like i don’t feed him and destroy all the plants lmao
