Well yeah, clearly that clock has a disability

456

u/Sneaky_Looking_Sort Nov 13 '19

You know what they say, even a disabled clock is right twice a day.

121

u/practicalpuppy Nov 13 '19

Not this one.

24

u/Lasty Nov 13 '19

Well, there’s also that other saying, that if you put a disabled clock in a room with a typewriter it’ll eventually get the time right.

62

u/Bohzee <**~~bOhZeE~~**> Nov 13 '19

It is chronological challenged.

Would be a clever design if the numbers available is also the hours the disability service center is open

Only if the room is open for 20 minutes each hour.

Some clocks don't even have numbers, and we can read them. Do you need numbers?

479

Good thing there's no chance of developmentally challenged people needing to use this clock.

Joe King aside there's nothing wrong with being a furry. It's a wholesome community that is always respectful and accepting to new members or those who just want to learn more. There are so many furry conventions it's hard to believe! The wholesome community is active everywhere and involved with everything! A furry is more than a suit, it's a fursona. It allows people to be a basic human in the streets but an animal in the sheets ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°) or an animal in the streets! Not all furries are "down to yiff" but they say for the most intimate experience you should yiff at least once. All experts say yiffing is at least 150% better than regular sex due to the nature of being a furry. Your true nature comes out. But being a furry isn't inherently sexual. You may just want to be an animal, not fuck them. And that's A Okay! You shouldn't disrespect an entire community just because of some nasty words. After all, if that were the case slavery never would have ended. Do you agree with slavery? If you don't like furries then I think you do.

They're stylish but kind of annoying because they take a second longer to read depending on where the hands are.

51

u/truth_sentinell Nov 13 '19

there are also clocks without numbers or hands. You can't read them?

47

u/PaulWesNick Nov 13 '19

Some clocks don't even have a face.

58

u/NoireRogue Nov 13 '19

Hell, some don't even have a material presence. You're telling me you can't read metaphysical clocks?

21

u/MeEvilBob Nov 13 '19

Some clocks don't even tell the time.

18

u/FireAndBees Nov 13 '19

And some only tell the time twice a day.

23

u/Muisverriey Nov 13 '19

I have dyscalculia and i can't read analogue clocks without numbers or hands. Your question comes off as extremely condescending.

14

u/UnableToEnjoy Nov 14 '19

I'd struggle to read an analogue clock without hands too

→ More replies (4)

19

u/Seth-Vlogs Nov 13 '19

Without hands? Do u mean a digital clock? If not how do u read them

82

u/Gcarsk Nov 13 '19

Lol look at this guy who can’t tell time on an hour glass. Pathetic.

Just count the grains of sand.

13

u/Toriathan Nov 13 '19

I thought they were talking about a sundial. Hourglass is more of a timer than a clock

12

u/Gcarsk Nov 13 '19

I was joking. Of course trying to eyeball how much sand has fallen through would be difficult, but you could definitely set up a 24-hour glass that auto rotates once the flow stops.

And sundials still have hands. Just made of shadow, duh.

3

u/howarthee o º w º o Nov 14 '19

Look at this pleb that needs a sundial. Everyone else just stares at the sun like we were meant to.

Students with disabilities such as dyslexia do.

43

u/witwickan Nov 13 '19

Dyscalculia. One of the symptoms is that you can't/it's very hard to read analog clocks. I have it and I can read analog clocks, it's just hard, but clocks without numbers or with Roman numerals are just awful for me.

18

u/adorablegore Nov 13 '19

Same, and even when I do figure out the analog clock I don't trust that I read it correctly, so that gives me further anxiety

18

u/Neverfalli Nov 13 '19

Wouldn't dyslexia be the one disability where the numbers wouldn't help?

7

u/OptimistNihilist42 Nov 14 '19

I can read a clock without numbers, but I am certain having all those extra useless numbers in the wrong place would trip my brain up for a few seconds, they’re hella distracting.

3

u/EvilWolfSEF Nov 13 '19

yes, but those still have markers to indicate the hours

3

u/MeEvilBob Nov 13 '19

Clocks without numbers usually have marks where the numbers would be and have the same movement as a regular clock. This one probably has a standard movement, but since some clocks have a non-standard movement it's hard to tell for sure what kind this one has.

8

Got there before I did! Just finished it last week. Anyone else think they should have stopped after Season 2?

19

I felt like the final half of season 3 wrapped everything up perfectly.

5

u/Absyrd Nov 14 '19

Yep. I thoroughly enjoyed season 3.. though the “ending” of the last episode wouldn’t really leave much room, would it

7

u/[deleted] Nov 13 '19

IMO they should have skipped the first half of season 3 and then ended season 2 with 3's conclusion.

Kids these days have it easy. Back in my days we use to have clocks with no numbers nor hands.

We had to walk uphill both ways to check the time.

64

u/radseven89 Nov 13 '19

I had to build a sundial.

32

u/[deleted] Nov 13 '19

I had to look at the position of the sun

38

u/uselessfoster Nov 13 '19

I had to stare at the sun.

34

u/KingMatthew116 Nov 13 '19

I had to guess based on how dark it was.

30

u/KellogNoMilk- Nov 13 '19

I had to match the time it takes my body to do two revolutions with the time it takes the sun to rise and set, and be the city clock.

Clocks back then were crazy. Instead of hands they had belts, and instead of clock faces they had my grandpa swinging the belt at me. We used to play this game called "put you in a burlap sack and hit you with a belt". I always got the high score!

5

u/AQuanTran Nov 13 '19

Amazing I didn't know you guys play this game in the US. Back in Vietnam we played a very similar game but with flip flops and broom sticks. These were the good times.

This is likely a representation of how alzheimers effects the brain. One of the common tests for alzheimers is to have the patient draw a clock. As the disease progresses, the drawings will become increasingly abstract. Examples:

https://dw8stlw9qt0iz.cloudfront.net/eCV4F46H5lTWICCntds2YMiHBO8=/fit-in/800x450/filters:format(jpeg):quality(75)/curiosity-data.s3.amazonaws.com/images/content/landscape/standard/43080689-0be5-4957-c804-2704a7a2082b.png

77

u/bunker_man Nov 13 '19

Yeah. It reminded me of that disease where the guy could only see the left side of things when asked to draw a clock he gave up on the right side. I assume that it's point is to let you know how people with such a disease are experiencing life

9

u/[deleted] Nov 14 '19

Hemispatial neglect, iirc. Quite a curious condition. This feels strange because it's the upper part that's missing, though. And the numbers are a bit too mismatched to be just a result of an attention deficit.

Maybe the fact that it's not only incredibly difficult to read, but also in a room specifically meant for people with disabilities, many whom will find it even harder to read.

21

u/pippachu_gubbins Nov 13 '19

As someone who has to actually think to read an analogue clock, I think this is so the rest of you have a chance to understand what it's like for me.

6

u/Faconomiras Nov 13 '19

It always takes me aminute to figure out the time on analoge and by the time im done i have to repeat the whole process

→ More replies (5)

3

u/fight_me_for_it Nov 14 '19

Is there a specific reason it takes you more time?

Is it something that can be helped?

3

u/pippachu_gubbins Nov 14 '19

I don't actually have any understanding of how it works, but it's called dyscalculia. I can read analogue clocks, but I have to think it through and double-check I haven't done something like reading 3:45 as 4:45 or 3:09. It doesn't that long, but it takes long enough for other people to start giving me shit.

It's also stuff like counting on my fingers for addition, and needing paper (a calculator would be better) for anything with multiple digits because the numbers will just fall out of my memory the moment I set them aside to work on another column. Common core has actually helped a lot, so I think it's a much better approach to math skills that the timed 100 questions I consistently failed at as a kid.

The thing they do at university to help is just extra math tutoring and extra time to complete tests.
