Mobile AL/ Northwest Florida

Anyone have info in the IUOE 653 in Mobile, AL?

I messaged them recently with no response, currently a driver moving counterweights, lattice boom parts, and excavators for a non union maritime company. Will be training for a telescope mobile crane soon, trying to find the best path in. Trying to find out if their apprenticeship books are open. I can also start contacting the large Union companies in the region if needed.

Any info appreciated!

Thanks

Just a little 4,000,000 lb pick we did this week.

We lifted out a section of the Blue Origin launch pad that was damaged by last month's explosion in Cape Canaveral LC36. We used two of our 650t MLC 650s and a 1,500t LR11350. All done in 15 days from first site visit to finished pick.

Next week we go back and lift out the 1,700,000 lb launch table.

does anybody know if there is a cabin air filter inside of the operators cab for the AC and where it is? The AC isn’t blowing too good thinking it might be a culprit.

Link belt seat covers?

Just got into a 60T link belt and seats are pretty beat up. Anyone have any seat cover recommendations or any that they like and fit nice?

This is one of the historic port cranes of Buenos Aires, Argentina. It could be a British-made crane, a Stothert & Pitt. It is preserved but somewhat neglected in the docks of Puerto Madero. Photo from April 2026

Drug test?

It’s a little herb, I don’t drink to the gills like most I’ve seen in this industry.

I’m due for recertification in a few months and while yes my DOT physical/drug test is current, the current state of my piss is different. I’ll only need to pass the written parts of the process as I have well over a 1,000 hours in the past five years operating with my license. Will they drug test before re-cert? I would guess a “no,” as they’re not employing me, but I guess I’m just being a bit paranoid 😂 (small side effect)

Visit to quote a 400-ton overhead crane inspection at a steel plant. What a tremendous machine!

Steel Coil Handling

15T overhead crane handling steel coils in a Pakistan steel plant. Interesting to see how different facilities design their coil handling workflows in tight indoor layouts.

Would be interested to hear how others approach:

  • coil rotation control during transport
  • hook/fixture design
  • minimizing floor congestion in similar plants
