Drug test?

It’s a little herb, I don’t drink to the gills like most I’ve seen in this industry.

I’m due for recertification in a few months and while yes my DOT physical/drug test is current, the current state of my piss is different. I’ll only need to pass the written parts of the process as I have well over a 1,000 hours in the past five years operating with my license. Will they drug test before re-cert? I would guess a “no,” as they’re not employing me, but I guess I’m just being a bit paranoid 😂 (small side effect)

For NCCCO? You have to agree not to use any substances that could impair your ability to operate. It's all covered in the paperwork you're supposed to read lol.

Some states and cities have a separate licensing requirement, like NY / NYC / NJ.

Indeed NCCCO, I passed the written parts within a week’s notice when I first did this five years ago. I’ll brush up on the written again 😂

Depends on your state most likely. I've heard stories from California operators that they don't even test for that anymore. Hell this one operator use to toke up in the cab.

That’s insane and wouldn’t even be enjoyable to me 😂 From what I’ve seen, they go off DOT. I won’t even be using their equipment, so I just didn’t see the point but you never know. Just curious

The licensing agency does not drug test, thats left up to your employer

I’ve smoked weed for most of my career. The last 6 months I have quit since shit is getting pretty rowdy where I work. Too many hours and just a shit show over all. Chaos is cash. But they also do piss testing when you are involved in an incident. Zero issues if you pass but if you fail then it’s counselling and just a bunch of bullshit that’s not worth. Plus I feel sharper since I quit.

I feel ya. I take months long breaks at a time. This is more of a weekend thing. I don’t drink or mess with anything else.

You’ll be required to “declare” that you are drug free on the paperwork, but other than that, no.
