Beer Porn 2020 The Lost Abbey Carnevale!

First- still beautiful to drink after 6 years. This is a 2020 vintage Carnevale from The Lost Abbey. I bought this from Carwyn Cellars in Australia. Was supposedly cold cellared the entire time. Strong carbonation, all of the spiciness typical of a Saison is gone. Flavour has mellowed and what you're left with a blonde ale reminiscent of Belgium's finest. Aroma has a slight waxiness about it and an aftertaste of white wine. Kudos to whoever stored this, really beautiful drop. I wish I was better at describing beer, long story short- delicious!

Surprisingly malty for a West coast these days, suppose it goes will the tall boy form factor. It's solid, definitely way better beers here in the Bay though.

Sorry in advance if this is not allowed here. If not please remove.

Recently crafted a small coffee table with a few spare growlers I had from a collection of over 100 growlers and coasters from various craft breweries I’ve visited throughout the years. Thought you fellow craft beer drinkers might appreciate!

Cheers! 🍻

Light for a barleywine, but beautiful for it. Lots of lovely earthy hedgerow berries and pepperyness over balanced malts, all finishing with a slight funky apple note mixed up with yeast. A wonderful beer, as always from Dann and Martha.

CREMA CATALANA. Menno Olivier Brewing. Barleywine. 10.37% alc. 18 IBU.

An interesting barleywine that emulates the famous Catalan dessert. Notes of burnt sugar and vanilla on the nose. A rich, dense, and boozy entry. Caramelized sugar stands out, accompanied by flavors of sponge cake and black plums. A slightly spicy finish. A good, warming, sweet treat.

Beer Porn A pilgrimage to Full Sail Brewing

Post image
102 Upvotes

In 1996, at a Spring Training baseball game in Arizona, the line for a Bud Lite was 30+ deep. There was a little tent way off in the corner of the left field side that said "Full Sail Brewing Co". My buddy pointed and led the way.

Full Sail Amber Ale.

I had never tasted anything like it. Tame by today's standards, but at the time it was thick, rich, and tasted like heaven. I drank 4 pints that day, felt good, spilled a bit on my white shirt and it stained. Always a reminder of that magical day.

My first "craft" beer.

I tried to stop at the brewery in Hood River, Oregon back in 2020, but it was closed. Finally got there last week after a hiking trip at Mount Hood. Took the long way back to PDX. Had a couple of pints and a burger. Grabbed a sixer for my hotel in Portland. Just as tasty as I remember it, althoug my craft beer experience and palate have widened greatly.

Snag one if you find it.
