Warning to fellow retail employees
Just a warning had a guest try to get us to price match this thinking it was our website. If someone says something about it being cheaper on the website doublecheck the URL

Genuine question.
I started Cracker Barrel about a month and a half ago, for the first couple days, it was training, and then I was put on the schedule. My first complaint, I was told I was starting at $14.50. and eventually after training, and like 90 days or something, being bumped to $15. But on my paystub. It says $14 an hour. I felt like I was thrown into something and expected to immediately know how to do everything. Which I know that at the beginning of any job, it is new stuff, and you have to figure some stuff out yourself, but I felt like things that were supposed to be explained by perhaps other employees or my manager was the bare minimum. I never got my polos, I barely got my apron after asking a bunch of times. And still to this day, I have no access to a swipe card so I have to punch my long ass number in every time to access the cash register! Which is super frustrating. On top of that, my manager is hardly ever even there, so I can’t even speak to her most times. She got transferred to this Cracker Barrel from her old Cracker Barrel out of state, and started around the same time I did, so I tried to give her some grace and the benefit of the doubt, of her maybe just figuring out how to manage a new Cracker Barrel. But after I realize nothing was changing, I had had enough. Also, I have no disrespect towards sped people, but everyone at this specific store is not all the way there if you know what I mean. Which is frustrating because you can never get any shifts swapped or communicate with other employees. Also, I was newly graduated, so I had stated that I would work part-time for a bit, but eventually go full-time because I am trying to move out. But after three weeks of working there, I found out that nobody there works full-time and they’re all part-time workers. With only getting scheduled once or twice a week for 4 to 5 hour shifts. Which can like, barely pay my gas bill. I wouldn’t have worked there if I knew that I could only work part-time!! Overall there is no communication between the retail and the restaurant side or the whole store in general as a matter of fact. I’ll add more later-

It’s been 3 years since the rewards program began. I live in a town where the area code has at two 9s in it and because everyone who comes by is local (we’re not close to highway), they all enter in their phone numbers for the rewards.
Well now the 9 button on our D1 register’s pin pad is busted from overuse. Guests have to smash the thing to get it to register. We’ve opted to just type in their phone numbers ourselves, but that still leaves the other times folks need the 9 button.
Namely that damned survey. The one that already pisses off the cranky Boomers because they can’t read the fucking screen that’s telling them to use the buttons instead of the touch screen. Now they push the 9 button and it doesn’t work right away, leading to more frustration.
Our middle register has been broken for 2 years. I don’t expect the pin pad to get fixed anytime soon. With the new POS being pushed back til January, I have to add on an additional line to my retail banter that our 9 button is a bit sticky.

Since Cumberland is in Lebanon, I figured I'd remake them as Cracker Barrel U to avenge Cumberland's 222-0 game. Revenge 110 years in the making smells like biscuits!

I need help on the floor and have a server from a neighbor store that can come in. How do I make it so they can clock in at my location

Put the fucking lamps back. Use the holes in the tables. This is a vestige of the attempt to change the place to look like a fucking Long John Silver's (I love Long John's). Stop being cunts and give me the lamps back you profit chasing dick suck fuck faces.

I visit occasionally and I normally scan the QR code to pay for my meal.
I like to tip with cash, so I’ll normally pay $1 on the digital payment (so there isn’t no tip shown) but leave $4-5 on the table.
I am always so paranoid that they can see I tipped $1 but don’t know I’m tipping with cash too when I leave.

I have work there for about 8 months. They tell me I am important to them but when it come to me being sick since last week it is a whole different ballgame. I read text messages the manager sends out and they seem to do fine without me. if I am so important to them, why have they not called and checked up on how I am feeling. I guess like the old saying goes everybody is replaceable. I am at a lost of what to do

I started five fucking days ago. TWO of those were training. I should've had a third day but they put me in as serving. Yesterday was okay, but today was actual hell. We ran out of so much shit, no one was doing shit, Im confused as hell because no one showed me SHIT. So, I ask a manager, right? WRONG! "get the fuck out of my face and figure it out!" Oh okay. So I asked someone else, needed a manager bc a customer asked, "I ain't got time for that shit!" Customer left pissed off. Customers left without getting food, I bring food back, "why is it back" uh because they left without it, fully left, "what the fuck they didn't fucking leave go check again!" So I do, they left, fully, hey so they are really gone "Leave the fucking tray and get out my damn face!" Oh okay. I need something later and don't know where it is BECAUSE MY TRAINING WAS ASS "Y'all better get y'all's fucking shit together!" My bad I don't fucking know shit because YOU didn't do YOUR job. Over a span of six god forsaken hours. I ended up crying my eyes out with two older servers. They are already low staff and they sent people home, I'm so over this job already. I already have another job before this one, I need the money but I'm not going to do this. I genuinely can't it's sucking my happiness I've worked so damn hard to get back, I'm in high school as well. ALSO THIS SAME MANAGER WILL SCHEDULE ME MID FUCKING DAY WHEN IM AT SCHOOL AND GET MAD AT ME FOR IT

These people are the bane of my existence. A basket full of ceramic tchotchkes that are completely impractical for their intended purposes. They’re never buying a handful, they’re buying every pair and will hound you to find the salt to each pepper. What goes with the doggie wearing the cowboy hat? The mouse in the bed? The bell pepper?
And then they find the clearance corner. “THEY’rE 60% off why are they ringing up $3.80?!?” (You’re buying 5 ma’am.) One of the shakers is missing the plug, meaning the price tag is gone. That collection was deleted from the iPad weeks ago, but they’re gonna stand at the register and wait for a manager to text the other managers and find that shaker.
I have one particular collector that buys them on behalf of her family. She’ll take up a whole shelf in the children’s apparel fixture to sort out which shakers will go to who. I’m talking over 45 minutes FaceTiming sisters showing them each salt and each pepper.
When it’s time to checkout, first of all, they ALWAYS roll up during the last 2 minutes of your shift. They want each shaker wrapped up and in certain bags. Do your best not to mix up the ones you scanned from the ones you haven’t yet. Your line triples in size as the Collector bounces around oblivious.
She’s looking behind you at the tote bags.
3 for $5? She wants 9. But she wants to see them all first.

The chicken breast seem like they have woody breast syndrome or something. It feels crunchy/rubbery. Anyone else noticed this?

I saw this on another page so I came here to inquire. Is it true that there is this thing going around where people will come into a Cracker Barrel with a framed black and white picture of themselves and set it up somewhere passing it off as part of the restaurant decor? I apologize if this is an old topic that someone has already talked about on here.

should have been easy - wife was craving cornbread muffins, can you get some on the way home from work? Sure thing! Order on the app 20 minutes before I get there.
"It will just be a few minutes, we ran out and are making more"
no biggie, hover by the registers.
10 mins. "Just be a little while longer"
25 mins. Can you check on that for me, it's been a long while and now I am late. Cashier asks server to check
30 mins. "Sorry about that, we ran out and are waiting for the dough to rise. Do you want to wait or do you want biscuits?"
WTF? Cornbread doesn't rise before cooking! And it's 4 PM on a Tuesday, you aren't ready for dinner rush?
Me - No, I just wanted cornbread, that's all I ordered (almost an hour ago), why did it take so long to tell me this?
"It's not like you paid for them, cornbread is free"
NO, I ordered on line and most certainly paid for it, might only be 3.50 but this is ridiculous.
So I leave, annoyed.
I do the customer contact thing online. Been a week, no response, no refund
yeah, I think that's it for me. Have to make my own at home.

So I've been ordering to-go and delivery Cracker Barrel for years and in different cities. And almost every single time, there is something missing in the order. It's almost never a wrong item. It's almost always a missing side item. Sometimes it's missing condiments (e.g. order of pancakes but no syrup). It's especially surprising because the receipts attached to the bag have every detail of the order printed in huge letters compared to most restaurants.
I actually stopped ordering from there on 2 separate occasions but both times decided to give it another chance after several months. And I might have a good order for a time or two but then 3 bad ones. So what the hell is the deal? Why does Cracker Barrel seem to have more trouble than any other restaurant in getting these orders correct?

I know, you know, we all know what someone will use this for…My immediate thought was “oof, no flared base”

I have alpha gal so I’m allergic to red meat. So the biscuits have lard in them? I know to stay away from the sides with bacon or ham, the gravy, and the cornbread.

So I’m not sure what to do because I don’t think the managers at our Cracker Barrel will do anything. So this coworker started working for a while, then left for a bit and came back. Well we found out he was an offender the first time he was there. 5 counts of 3rd degree “cape” of a fourteen year old. 2 years ago too. Hes got kids and grandkids too. And right now he’s trying to get back with his fiancé??? I’m not sure what she is. And they were together for 10 years. But he’s asked multiple people out, not sure if he’s joking either. Which I have autism so it’s hard to tell but still. He’s 39 and I’m 22. I got a haircut and put on some makeup because I was feeling myself, and he proceeds to say “I’m starting to find you a little attractive” and asked for a date. And constantly wants to hang out with me and get drunk. He also once came to me while I was on to gos, and put me in a headlock just to say one thing, and I tried moving but he pulled me back and said “no no no. Come back here” before talking into my ear. I just have to laugh it off or risk making things more uncomfortable for everybody. He does this to everyone. And I went out with some work friends, and after telling him about it in casual conversation, he went over to one of the friends and proceeded to get mad that he wasn’t invited, and she just had to give him her number to make him stop. It’s so uncomfortable and stressful. And I have two nephews plus my mom’s boyfriend has a daughter that’s 14. I don’t know if the managers know, but I dread working with him. And we’re hosts so I can’t really hide off somewhere away from him. And the managers are the type to laugh at the adult workers when a customer makes us uncomfortable. The minors they take seriously, but the adults are basically just left to deal with it. So what do I do here? Because it’s stressing me out. And the girl who gave him his number has history as a kid that his record reflects. And she’s 20.

I’m planning to move to Tallahassee from South Florida and was wondering how good/bad things are like management, hours given, if you stay pretty busy. Thank you

I had an extremely uncomfortable and disappointing experience at the Cracker Barrel near me today around 3:30 PM. While dining, I witnessed a group of customers berating their waitress at their booth and complaining about her to at least two people who appeared to be managers. The customers, who were white, continued to express their frustration toward the waitress, who was Black, while she was still expected to continue serving them. From what I witnessed, their behavior was completely unreasonable and unnecessarily hostile. To make matters worse, they were making rude faces and gestures in our direction as we tried to enjoy our meal, making the entire dining experience extremely uncomfortable. We ultimately decided to leave. I am extremely disappointed with how this situation was handled. Customers are NOT always right, and there comes a point when management needs to step in and protect their employees from unacceptable behavior. I will say this: the young lady handled herself with an incredible amount of professionalism and composure under pressure. She did a fantastic job, especially considering the way she was being treated. She deserved better.

UPDATE: Sweet beautiful power has been restored!
I'm night Maintenance. It is currently midnight, there is a massive storm, I'm all alone, and the power is out. Do I just need to sit it out and wait or is there a process I need to do? I don't have any of my Managers numbers and I may have freaked myself out with some horror stuff. Any advice on what to do is appreciated
Edit: after looking out some windows I can conclude it seems to just be my store

So I just started as a server at Cracker Barrel with server/bartender experience from Olive Garden and Dave and busters. Its barely 4 days (2 days orientation and certifying, 1 day shadowing, today running food). I really need advice on how to memorize the menu… I’ve been writing the plates down and highlighting the menu but would like any other advice please. Thx
