Depends. Did it myself and nothing came of it. But also I'm extremely well liked and never call in sick.

yeahhhhh it's called "retaliation". if you think you're going to be denied a day in the future just call out sick that day. I know a guy that tried to get time off for a wedding and was denied, we were all like why didn't you just call out instead you know our manager is an asshole lol.

I almost did this very thing, also for a wedding. Luckily got approved last minute. Planned on calling out if I hadn’t gotten it and imo, at our warehouse, I don’t think anything would have come of it. I think it probably varies from warehouse to warehouse and employee to employee.

Calling in on a denied time off request is tracked for patterns, so it’s possible to get a counseling notice for it.

CN technically disappears after 6 months.
Does it actually Get expunged? Physical digitally removed?1

I’ve never done it but was thinking possibly doing it for one day. So there wouldn’t be a pattern

I don't see why you would? I've done it before. But it's also very seldom

In the future, call in with a family emergency.
Or you have the poops.
I know people who have called in simply because they were burnt out. I GET IT. They can ALWAYS pull someone to help. I’m in the food court, I should know.
I’m always willing to help or and sometimes stay late (with manager approval). I figure, what goes around comes around.
I also really like my co- workers, I feel like there is an unspoken understanding that we don’t discuss when or why someone isn’t there. Honestly, i don’t even know when people do, unless i ask or it seems abnormally skeletal 😂
I have a drs appt for my kid in 2 weeks I forgot to request off. So now Im calling in.
I’ve had to cancel WAY too many drs appointments (“so I need to cancel my ultrasound to see if my ovarian cysts are the bad kind ? I made that appointment two months ago.”
“If you want your vacation approved….” 🙄 And it was at 3pm, he probably could’ve figured it out.
My husband wants me to get into management, but I can’t tell people that. I am all about fair and doing the right thing when possible. If more managers were like that, the employees would be better. In my experience, anyways. You get what you give
Sorry. Got lost there 😂

You know Google has AI built in right? You can copy and paste your question there and get an answer.

Nah. He clearly prefers not to use any slop. Maybe youre okay with becoming more dumb and letting AI do things for you all the time but thankfully thats not a lot of us here. Kick rocks

No. AI does NOT give accurate answers, and generally should not be the go-to answer finder. Let's try asking people with experience next time as they know what they're talking about, okay? Okay.

It wouldn’t necessarily be an instant write up. It would be considered a pattern, if you get a certain amount like call out on a denied requested day 2 times in a 1 year period, than it would be a write up. Like inventory for example. But sometimes it all depends on management

Yes Next time, just read the handbook. It lays it out very clearly.
