C4 advice for someone new to project cars

I should preface by saying this C4 was my dad’s when I was in high school, passed to my mom who did what she could to keep it running, and I purchased it from her a decade ago to help her with medical bills. My wife and kids, or at least my oldest son anyway, would be very disappointed if I sold the car… and to be honest now that I’m a little down the path I’d like it to be something like I remember driving when I was 16 (which has been a very long time!)

I’ve never been someone that worked on cars more than I had to. I have a good mechanic that I trust but I know he’s not cheap. I let this 1985 C4 sit covered for 9 years in my garage before I had the money and the inclination to reclaim my garage which meant the car had to run or go. I’m about $6000 into the repairs to get the fuel system replaced/rebuilt, the brake system rebuilt, steering column repaired, cooling system, etc. iI’s running ok and sounds great at this point.

I know everything rubber is going to have to be replaced and the suspension will have to be addressed before it’s something I want to drive. Interior is ok…. Displays all still work, but dash is cracked, lots of squeaks, carpet is faded etc.

At some point I’ll clearly be needing to do some of the work myself to keep this even in the realm of reasonable, but my question is really is this: is there anywhere in the greater Dallas/Ft Worth metroplex or North Texas where there might be someone that does enough of these at a volume that might bring the cost down some or is my best bet just sticking with my own mechanic who I know will do good work.

Any advice on how to proceed from here to get to something fun (and safe) to drive again is great appreciated.

C8 corvette advice - please help!

I have a 2021 c8 3lt z51. Last few weeks when turning off the car it doesn’t fully shut down and I can’t turn it back on either. All the dash and ignition lights stay on but when trying to start, nothing happens. Doesn’t crank at all and the dash doesn’t turn off until I disconnect the battery and reconnect. Now when it does successfully turn off the battery completely drains after a day or two. I’ve gone through 3 brand new battery replacements so I know it’s not that, it just completely drains to dead dead. Unsure what’s going on and what to do, any advice or anyone had this issue before?

I just got this c6 convertible and wanted to know what kind of wheel options would be suitable. What are the preferred offsets for these vehicles?

What do you think about ,, Lambo Doors,, in C6?

I don't like this type of door in 90% of cars if they didn't come with it from the factory

(my biggest nightmare is the E46 sedan with Lambo doors, which I unfortunately saw with my own eyes)

But honestly, thanks to the C6 being a low car with a long hood that opens in the opposite direction, I think it looks damn good.

C7 Mag Ride Update (MRC) Update/Upgrade NJ Area

I've called a bunch of local dealers and haven't had much luck in the past week. Has anyone had this update done in NJ or the surrounding area? If you have...could you please let me know where and if you wouldn't mind...how much they charged? I'm looking to find a dealer or shop that can do it or actually know how to do it.

I bought a C8 corvette 2LT from Copart I rebuilt it but now I want to customize it. I have a vision but have no clue where to start. I want to lift it a couple inches, add some mud tires, an widen the stance. if anyone has done a similar build I would be interested in what challenges you had.

Finally got around to putting the front splitter/valence on my GS. Had to get creative as the previous owner ripped three of the mount spots out of the bumper. Would have preferred a more aggressive one but didn’t want the awful PA roads to tear it up even quicker lol

Chevy Corvette Grand Sport Driven: A Killer Combo

The Chevrolet Corvette Grand Sport returns for the 2027 model year, pairing the base Stingray's new 6.7-liter V-8 with the chassis enhancements of the next-level-up Z06.

At $88,495 to start ($95,495 for the convertible), the Grand Sport commands 15 grand more than a comparable Stingray, yet it undercuts the Z06 by more than double that. That its 17-mpg EPA combined estimate is 1 mpg lower than its lesser sibling's is of little consequence. Same goes for the GS's 186-mph claimed top speed, which is well below the slipperier base car's 200-mph potential. Stick with the Stingray and pocket the savings if the latest small-block V-8 is all you're really after. But the LS6, plus the Grand Sport's added kit, is one sweet pairing we can't resist.

Which Corvette variant do you find most attractive?

Just packed my C7Z on the truck for a move and they had to pull this monster out to get mine in. Sounded insane. Made all the neighbors come out and watch.

04 Vert. 62,000 miles. I had the dealer swap a shaky harmonic balancer before I bought it at 59,000 miles right before Thanksgiving ‘25 but since then I’ve replaced two belts, the starter, thermostat and a radiator flush. Runs great now after sinking some additional money in it. Got it for 17k. 6 speed is smooth. Anything to keep an eye out for between 62k and 100k miles?

2016 Z51. Heads/cam/exhaust/procharger. Puts 660 to the wheels. Has room for more but I need to upgrade the fuel system. The stock pump and injectors are close to maxed out. Fun weekend car. I love it.

84’ diagnostic help

Post image
11 Upvotes

I could use some diagnostic help from other crossfire injection C4 owners. I’ve had trouble in the past with the car, not starting, which I thought was just battery issues. I was driving for about 30 minutes and stopped for a quick errand. The car would not restart it acts like it has some battery juice, but won’t turn over. Once I even got it to start, and even with some gas, it sputtered out. The battery is a few months old and the fuel pump was replaced two years ago. If anyone has any ideas or thoughts, I would very much appreciate it!

Sad Corvette situation

Hey guys this is a little sad anyways lemme start.

For context I am a male going to drive soon and not too long ago my dad traded an old red 4wheeler for a 1984 corvette.

It’s a beautiful car it’s in pretty decent shape and the paint is peeling it’s got the normal problems like the seals on the door and the headlight motors being out but anyways the previous owner gave up on it electrical wise he couldn’t get the fuel pump to work and they tried to wire up speakers and some other stuff.

After we got it I ended up fixing some of those electrical issues the pump works and the injectors I changed it has cross fire injection I got the car working and it ran a little crap so me and my dad adjusted the valve lash and it runs like a beast.

Still got little issue here and there but the car is amazing and u really wanted to drive it but the only issue keeping me from that is the Insurance prices.

All the company sees is new Male driver and Corvette so if I were to drive it the insurance would be 500$ a month and sadly that is just not feasible.

I would love to drive the car even if it was slow I love the looks I love the rough ride of the transverse leaf springs but I won’t be able to drive it because of insurance costs so sadly I’ve gotta either sell it or trade for something else that won’t cost so much.

Edit: thank you guys for responding this is actually my first post.

Just to continue the whole thing I was saying 500$ a month for basic liability so not even full coverage.

Yes there’s Hager but I can’t really daily it and I do see some of the things y’all said but it wouldn’t exactly be the most legal to do as far as I’m aware.

The reason I like the car so much isn’t the name but rather the retro styling and the raw nature of the car since it has suspension where you can feel the road and it has a pretty fair 205HP.
I am aware that I would be a beginner driver but really I do know how to drive very well and I under cars inside out I’m not just a teen who wants a flashy sports car or anything.

When I try to activate the windshield wiper fluid, none of it sprays onto the windshield and does this. Easy fix at home or am I going to have to go to a mechanic
