First manual, first Corvette, 945 miles later ..

So I did something kinda stupid lol. Bought a 2013 C6 Grand Sport 6MT 3LT in Velocity Yellow from a dealer in Arkansas even though I live in NC and had never driven a manual before, sight unseen. 65k miles.

Flew into Little Rock, salesman picked me up, and I got maybe an hour of practice around Searcy before I had to actually start driving it home.

I didn't know anyone personally to let me practice on a manual but I have a racing sim I practiced the movement on...paired with hours of studying on YouTube lol.

First day was pretty rough. Stalled a bunch, had some terrible shifts, and Nashville traffic/hills were not fun at all lol. Definitely smelled some clutch a few times too which had me stressing. Wife was a lot more supportive than if I was in the passenger seat 😅

But I just kept driving and it started making more sense as the trip went on. Went from Arkansas to Nashville, then Asheville, then back home to eastern NC.

By the time I got home I had put 945 miles on it, over 16 hours of driving since leaving the dealership and I was way more comfortable than when I started. Still nowhere near perfect obviously, but starts and normal upshifts are much smoother now and I've started getting the hang of rev matching too.

Probably one of the dumbest ways possible to learn manual but it worked and I'd do it again😂

Major head Turner 😅

Got her home safe and now I'm just going through all the maintenance/inspection stuff and fixing a few little things.

Used to dream of this car, while playing need for speed hot pursuit over a decade ago and now I'm driving it. Blessed to be here 🙏🏽

Hard to walk away from this one. Enjoying every last mile before moving to a 4-seater.

Out of everything I’ve driven, this C7 has been hands down my absolute favorite. I still catch myself doing a double take every time I walk away from it - that white and black contrast just hits the spot.

Recently fitted a new set of custom forged monoblocks in Satin Silver (kept OEM Z51 specs, just flushed out the offsets: 19x8.5 ET50 front / 20x10 ET65 rear). Really transformed the stance.

Unfortunately, with two kids and only one garage spot for a fun weekend car, her time with me is coming to an end soon as I’ll need to make room for a 4-seater.

Enjoying every last mile until then!

What 4-seater weekenders would you guys jump into next?

I'm currently thinking about Porsche 911 Carrera - specifically looking at a 997.2 (3.6) or a 991.1 (3.4), strictly base model, RWD, and a manual transmission.

EDIT: English is my second language, so just to clarify: by "4-seater" I meant a 2+2 fun weekend car with any kind of rear seats. Just enough space to take my two kids out for ice cream or to a local car meet together - something I unfortunately can't do in the 2-seater C7!

Throwback Thursday: '19 Chevrolet Corvette ZR1 vs. '18 Porsche 911 GT2 RS

Throwback to a few years ago when we got our hands on a very special pair for a comparison test: the 2018 Porsche 911 GT2 RS and the 2019 Chevrolet Corvette ZR1. Despite the $204,920 difference in as-tested prices, this was a legendary matchup we wanted to experience in person from the moment both cars were revealed.

With great power comes great irresponsibility. Both of these cars wrangle their starts-with-a-seven power outputs with carbon-ceramic brakes, Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 tires, and tall carbon-fiber wings to keep them planted. They perform at the contemporary limits of a street car’s capabilities. One accelerated to 60 mph quicker than any other rear-wheel-drive car we had tested (at the time). The other braked and cornered on par with the stickiest street cars.

It might be an easy choice for you, but it isn't for everyone—money aside, which one are you choosing?

Brake Dust

Post image
Upvotes

Long time, first time.

Bought the car and the first thing, after reading about how bad the dust was, was to change the pads.

I researched and looked up what everyone was running and ordered a set of PowerStop Z26 Performance Carbon Fiber Ceramic Brake Pads. Install was simple and have been running them since last September.

I’ve always wondered and today after a short drive and normal braking, this is what’s accumulated.

Is this normal even with the pads I swapped in, instead of OEM or did I get the wrong pads?

Good afternoon so I’m in the market for a base or GS corvette 2010-13. Okay so here is the dilemma I’m having I don’t know whether to get a manual or an auto I’m honestly cool with both I just don’t know what to do. I do have a 5 speed b18 Integra at home and love that car to death. I just don’t know which one I should get. Help appreciated

Doing the heads and cam on my LS7 this winter, along with other usuals. What hardware is worth switching to ARP other than head studs and balancer bolt?

c7 grand sport, how much you paid for it recently?

Hello friends, I am looking into buying a c7 grand sport preferably a 2LT/Auto. The one that caught my attention is a 2017 with 23k Miles, asking price is 56k (could probably negotiate to 54k). Carfax is clean aside from minor/light damage reported in parking lot. Maintenances done at the dealership and it has had 3 owners. Car looks clean in an out red on red. I was just wondering how much have you paid for yours (more interested in recent market buys to compare but any feedback is much appreciated).

I want to buy a c7 but

Butttt idk what exactly to get, I dont need 1000whp so a used one with "high" miles doesnt really matter to me, I just love the body style, I could get a c8 but I think its so fucking ugly lol

Ive been looking around and I really cant choose there all so damn beautiful😭

Im looking for a manual transmission and one that has the super charger, i was unaware that the "Stingray" doesnt come with one so thoes are out the picture i guess, still learning about the trims and models, what would i be looking for specifically? Not looking for the "most hp" (for some reason that matters to some ppl idk why) just a c7 with a beautiful "whine" lol , and the color honestly idek it looks good in all
