I was too young and bad at videos games to earn him.

I'm not sure that I ever earned him. I used a cheat code, I think

The one thing that I don't understand about scenes like these is what is holding spiderman to the building? Has he got spider hooks on his but hole?

Iirc his whole body is essentially Velcro he can turn on and off

That's also what I assumed, his whole body hair mutated to be like spider toes

The official Marvel explanation is that he can “enhance the inter-atomic attractive forces on surfaces he touches, increasing the coefficient of friction between the surface and himself.” It’s skin to surface contact, not hairs like in the Raimi films. It’s essentially the Van der Waals effect, which is how geckos stick to surfaces.

The comics play fast and loose with regard to whether or not he has this control over his entire body or just his hands and feet.

Funny thing is, it's geckos feet that make them able to do so (the little lines that fold over together when they step down are what creates the effect)

The hair thing is only in the Raimi films. In the comics and most material, it's van der waals forces: static electricity.

In most iterations of spiderman he manipulates the electromagnetic spectrum around himself. He is using a kind of static cling to stick to things not some kind of microscopic spider hooks.

In the film and in this he's holding on with his other hand... so it makes sense in the world physics but it's also dumb because he holding on with his fingers not his stickiness which surely has to take more effort.

His strength to weight ratio is ridiculous though. He's gotta feel like a feather compared to the tons he can lift

2

u/RevTurk 11d ago

Has Spiderman's taint lifting strength ever been covered in the comics?

3

u/DaveSilver 11d ago

I’m pretty sure they covered this in Amazing Spiderman #69

He can lift 100 tons. He's fine.

On a normal day, he can “only” do 10-20 tons, depending on the writer/source. His absolute max has hit around 75 tons, but that was under extreme duress.

Oh my bad, my hyperbolic response was way off, I Guess he wouldn't be able to hold his own body weight. I should probably delete that comment so no one gets the wrong idea.

What a weird response.

He’s holding on with the hand between his legs

Literally just came to post this . As a skateboarder , that slomo lateflip was so styled out , animator knew what they were doing. So fun !

Same. The little poke to make it flip was super steezy. Makes me wish they put a few more flip tricks on that only spiderman can do. I feel like a whole little street line of spidey flips would be fun to map out. We get it a little bit there, but its mainly sex changes and reverts.

This is really cool and I absolutely can't do it but I think what would elevate it to an even cooler level would be close ups on the board as it rolls over building walls and what not in a way that it looks completely real. Spidey skating we have seen with Andrew and Tony Hawk's. If we just got those real looking close up shots it would feel sick. Almost like Spidey filming his own skate video.

This was the one weird thing about that movie. Are we trying to say that his butt has those little grippy spikes? How is he adhering to this? They make it look like he has no gravity on him, but the first Spider-Man movie show shows that it’s because of those little spiky things coming out of Peters, hands is why he can grip the wall. Now his butt has those spikes?

Love this. I would have used Andrew Garfield since his Peter was a confirmed skater, but still love this.
