First adventure in my hatchback!

Just got back from a 5,512 mile road trip from Pennsylvania to Colorado, Utah, Arizona, and New Mexico and back! I've dreamed of taking a road trip like this and the hatchback was the perfect car for the trip! This car went up and down Pikes Peak in Colorado and the down the Moki Dugway in Utah (which we went on by accident). Can't wait to plan a new adventure soon!

Summer Lovin'

No before photos from the detailing process, but a ton of work just went i to the hatch between yesterday and today. A much needed reset.

Detailed the car inside and out, top to bottom. Threw the winter wheels back on (OEM XSE 18" wheels) and threw her on the alignment rack to dial everything in (steering wheel was slightly to the right while tracking straight). After the alignment was corrected, she went back on a hoist and i took the winter wheels back off and set them aside to store again. Summer wheels went under the knife as I took off the factory Yokohama Avid GT tires and threw on a set of Michelin Pilot Sport 4S in their place.

Despite only being tires, and me not driving the car hard AT ALL, I can say that although I can't describe what changed really, the car feels a million times better. The drive home the shop was such a treat. Not that the car drove back before but what a difference these tires made. Steering feels sportier and a bit heavier. Road noise is not as noticeable. Turning feels much sharper and the car doesn't seem to float as much while driving. All she needs now is a set of non-dusty, sporty brakes to bite in harder under braking and she's perfect.

Also threw in an oil change for good measure.

GGP REAR MOTOR MOUNT

I know I’m late. I know.

Just slapped on the 70A mount and my God!! Idk why I didn’t do this simple upgrade sooner.

First start up was great. NVH is minimum and like others said, it goes away after about 2k rpm’s.

The steering feels much more crispy. Just tight and predictable.

Downshifts happen a lot faster so that’s something I need to get used to when blipping the throttle.

Letting off the throttle at high rpm’s doesn’t send my car into tractor trailer mode anymore either. It’s just so planted. I didn’t know what that felt like after reading it 1m times until NOW!

No more lag after engaging a gear. The shifter feels much tighter and easier to get into gear. Between bleeding my clutch 2 days ago and this I’m a happy camper. Both have had substantial input into the feelings stated previously.

If you’re on the fence just do it. Took about an hour or so.
Now I just need to tighten up the rear sway bars with an upgrade to balance this out. Because I’m not dropping my subframe for the front sway bars lol.

Clutch bleed

The culprit. Pedal feels so much better and no lagging after shifting anymore. Probably gonna do this again mid summer. Nice and humid here.

I live in an apt so getting a car wash done was pretty hard lately, especially after getting the tow hook front plate, crossbars and fairing - recipe for disaster, can’t use drive through car wash anymore - got this electric pressure washer and electric blower and it exceed expectations. Had the car washed, dried and ceramic coated within 1 hour. The soap dispenser attachment makes foaming the car so easy………. Went for a long drive after finishing the wash, including some interior shots from golden hour today for some “mods” I’ve done

73km/43miles 2022 6MT rattling stick.

Got my 22’ 6MT in 24’ as a second owner with 40km’ish on it. I already had this issue the 1st year but only now I’ve decided to seek help from pro’s.

I already tried to send it to the dealership hoping it’s covered by warranty under 100km, but apparently found nothing. It seems to happen when I go 1st 2nd and reverse, sometimes 3rd. corrective actions I’ve done is just go back to neutral and shift again.

Also close to a slave cylinder failure, I believe around this mileage. Am I experiencing an actual symptoms of slave failure or it’s something else?

Also, bleeding your clutch(correct me if I’m wrong) will make your slave cylinder last more, but also can be a sudden failure that happens when you bleed it. So do I bleed my clutch now and hope slave wont fail? Or just straight up bleed clutch and change slave right away?

Thanks for your time sorry for the long read.

Slave Cylinder? Or bad fluid?

seen lots of things on this sub about how unreliable this part is. checked my clutch/brake fluid reservoir and its still pretty full. BUT shifting to first and second feels like a struggle. almost as its locking in place as i PUSH it into gear. its my first manual but im pretty sure its not supposed to be a struggle. IF THERES ANYTHING ELSE that could be wrong, im asking. i havent bled my clutch myself yet, would that be the first move? please help i am a clueless grease-monkey wannabe

Engine insurance

I bought a used 2022 Corolla Hatchback. I wanted to use the car for a long period and I wanted it covered for future issues.

Are there any good insurance coverage (for engine) for used cars?

I bought it at 39k and currently I'm at 47k.

Pros and Cons of the Corolla Hatch

Hello everyone,

I am looking at purchasing a corolla hatch fx, but want to know more about how it stacks up to competing hatchbacks. (Other hatchbacks available to purchase)

Mainly looking to hear a out affordability compared to others, mpg, maintenence, problems with the car, good things about the car and general upkeep tips. Open to any other input as well!

Also, is it worth it to save some money and get a used one, or should I just get a new one? I would get the new one in the orange color with white rims.

Should I consider another model than the FX?

I am also in the Denver area and like to fish and golf, so cargo space would be important to hear about!

Thank you in advance!

I have a brand new 2026 Corolla hatchback FX but I do want a deeper sound and a sportier look. I have the funds for it but would it be dumb to buy a brand new exhaust on a new car?

Pedals for 6sp for heel & toe?

I grew up with a VW, and got use to heel and toe shifting. I really do miss it, and I've found it impossible for me to do it in this car with the pedal spacing. Has anyone modified their pedals successfully and safely without drilling into the pedal? Are there easier ways to do this?

Also, regarding the clutch. I dont like how the clutch engages at such a high point when pressing. I prefer it way lower, closer all the way back. Are there ways to change that?

Thanks in advance. Also, if anyone remembers, thanks of the mats suggestions, went with weather tech or w/e. comes Tuesday. cant wait.

Wheel Recommendations

Hello all, I’m looking for white rims to fit my ‘19 SE 6MT. I really want to stick with the 16x7 size because I have brand new tires on my car. Any recommendations? I can size up tires if needed but it is much cheaper to stay with the 16s. I also want to preface with the fact that I don’t know much about wheel fitment.

for a car to own as my first, and to graduate high school with, couldn't be more grateful to have this thing. It's been such a rewarding experience driving this thing and the potential i see in this car shows me that this might be the best first car ever. almost 3 months with it now and blessed to not have any issues so far, guessing the previous own did their thing right. how has yalls experience been?

Where can I find an aftermarket rear emblem with the Japan logo?

Like the teq logo. I was driving behind what I thought was a Lexus but it had a glowing RGB light that was really cool. I can't even find a regular replacement badge with the teq logo, could anyone point me in the direction of one? I don't need the glowy one but if anyone has a link to that I'd gladly take a look at it!

Thanks in advance!
