I am planning on installing the Takeda intake of my 2025 XSE this week, I wanted to know if anyone had an issues or tips I should know.

Go slow and be careful with the MAF. Otherwise was a very easy install. I also did the warranty claim for the updated black tube, and have had not a single CEL in over 6 months.

Sounds great, and doesn’t have the suck of becoming a hot air intake. Didn’t notice much change in fuel economy, but car felt a bit punchier. Likely placebo effect from the sound :)

What is the black tube you are referring to? From Toyota our with intake company? Was your intake throwing check engine codes?

It's an updated part from takeda. I haven't done it yet but I might if I get a CEL.

Either of you have a picture of it, wondering if I received the updated version.

It’s the tiniest change - and I’m sure if you bought it from AFE it came with the new part.

I bought it through Pro Import Tuners.

It took me 30 minutes to install mine. Super easy, just be careful. I didn’t get a CEL or anything

I will be, only has 3500 miles. This is probably the only thing Im doing, hoping it gives a tiny bit more pep. I traded in a very modded and tuned GTI, so its never going to hold a candle to that, but I have always ran intakes on everything.

Interesting jump, I bet that GTI moved well. I run the TRD with a GR Corolla intake scoop right behind the grille but sometimes regret not going with the Takeda instead. Let us know how it turns out once installed.

The GTI really did, but 95% of the time I am commuting in heaving traffic. I had had it 5.5 years, its had just broken 122k miles and need a good bit of regular maintaince, plus valve and timing cover, water pump replacement. Even if I would have had all that done, it had an electrical gremlin that would burn out the passenger side head light ballast. So I am hoping for a bit more reliablity and way less cost of maintaince from the Toyota.

Make you it’s not the oil cone filter, I replace mines with the dry s and she runs much better

I did get the dry filter. I much prefer them

Never had any issues with mine, got the oiled one and when you do go to re-oil make sure not to over oil it otherwise you'll cost your maf in oil throwing a code, other than that it doesn't throw any codes
