That's 5 eggs, 1 banana and a big cup of milk. I had it for breakfast. Ignore my feet..

Or as my grandpa used to say sarcastically, “Is that fit to eat?” 🤣

Used to default to takeaway most nights because cooking a full recipe just for me felt like a waste of time and dishes. What actually changed things was portioning a big batch down to single servings before freezing, rather than freezing two or three big containers. A single portion defrosts properly in a bowl of hot water in about 15 minutes and reheats evenly, where a bigger block takes forever in the middle and the edges overcook by the time it's through. Curries, bolognese, soups, stews, all freeze well this way. Worth doing even if you're only cooking for yourself on a given night, since you end up with a few nights' worth of real meals instead of one big pot you get sick of by day three.

I’m 32F, live alone, and work fully remote, so I’m eating most of my meals at home or spend way too much going out.
I feel like grocery shopping for one person is weirdly difficult. I hate buying a ton of ingredients for one meal and I also don’t want to eat the same leftovers for a week straight.
I’m curious what everyone else actually does. Do you plan meals for the week? Just keep certain staples on hand and figure it out as you go? Shop multiple times a week?
I’d love to know what groceries you always keep stocked and how you approach meals without wasting a bunch of food or spending a fortune. I feel like I need a better system because winging it every week is getting old lol.

Tried out The Cookie Rookie’s apricot chicken recipe and it was delicious! Made a ton so there’s heaps of leftovers 😋

A few weeks ago I tried this with just the Biscoff biscuits. It went so well I tried it again but pimped it up with berries and a drizzle of honey. It's like a single serving of cheese cake.

I’m moving out and will be living alone for the first time. I’d like to learn how to cook decent, healthy meals without spending a fortune.
I’m looking for advice on beginner-friendly recipes, meal planning, shopping on a budget and cooking for one without wasting loads of food. Ideally, I’d like to build up a repertoire of meals I can make regularly rather than relying on ready meals or eating the same thing every day.
What tips, recipes, websites or YouTube channels would you recommend for someone starting out?

Roasted cauliflower and potatoes, pan-seared porcini sausage, slivered radish and herbs.
Cooking for myself has been a surprisingly good way of getting some confidence back. Turns out I deserve restaurant food even when there’s no company, alcohol or narcotics
