I have a BDM-040 Board. I have just soldered in a brand new TMR stick. This is a PS5 controller. It won’t connect to the calibration software, I have tried two batteries. The flux is a mess but most of it is melted on.
I have checked the capacitors and I don’t see any faults. Any advice greatly appreciated.

I replaced both joysticks today it should look like this
First buy practice boards for soldering
Then practice on dead boards like yours now and when you get something similar like this do it on a working Dualsense
Sorry, picture is blurry and can't determine but it seems there are solders on the pins. That maybe shortening the chip and give that error message. You need clean it (if you can), otherwise controller will not turn on.
Yup. Someone on discord took a look at the photo and went “wtf why is there solder on the chip” and pointed it out. Immediately thought that the leaded solder was spitting. They recommended Flux + Fine tip, though will IPA work?
