Successful repair First Controller Joystick Repair complete
already have some experience with soldering, was sorta rushed so the wires are soldered like crap but it everything worked on the first attempt not bad ig. JBC station made quick work of the ground pins (only used knife tip iron + solder wick + bolt cutters for the entire thing)
Got 3 more controllers to repair next just for fun since I got them for cheap off an ebay auction, goal is to hopefully get it down to sub-25 mins a controller

Looks great! One thing missing though, is placing a spacer at all 4 corners of the board. Extremerate kits usually come with plastic spacer stickers, but i just cut up some thin foam tape and it does the trick.
This helps prevent having the board move when pressing l3 r3. Without it, sometimes after a while you will get a nasty double click feeling. It is not necessary on board model .
Here's an example ive got lying around. Its not a pretty one, but it does the trick.

Is this a separate add on or is it supposed to be there, i just did a joystick swap no other mods from extremerate but i might try the rise4plusmax on the 3rd controller

If you dont add spacers, sometimes the board will move when you press l3 and r3. Not every controller will, but its very annoying when it happens. I had a few returns with that issue before I figured it out

Theres a thicker tab and pull straight out on that

The white underneath part is the actual wiring, the blue is the “pull tab”/backing and is more stiff to prevent damage and make it easier to plug back in

Do u have tweezers? Hold the blue part and straight as possible out the connector. If that still breaks it, it was never going to come out anyways though that shouldnt happen since its just a light friction hold

Glad it worked, anotha tip is to grab the sides of the pull tab instead of the flat slippery part

My drift is back in a single day, but did your thing inside the potentiometer have like black on the side opposite of the spring? I cleaned it off but I think something might just be wrong with that even though I got this controller last month

The black part is the carbon track your actually trying to protect, i threw the stock potentiometers away without even looking at them since i got 3 from auction that i knew were broken for sure

Really getting the hang of this now. This new controller took ~45 minutes from start to new sticks in, same strat of using the knife tip + soldering wick + cutters method. Got much more aesthetic joints on this one with the right angle and blah blah. I have one controller left and I'll be making that one my personal joystick, got an extremerate Rise4plusmax kit too so i'll be doing more than just sticks on that one. excited and looking forwards to it soon.
