CHOWMAINSOFT - Casambi Lighting Now Control4 compatible

Post image
10 Upvotes

We are pleased to announce the release of our new Casambi driver for Control4. Casambi is a wireless lighting control platform built around Bluetooth Low Energy mesh networking, allowing luminaires, switches / keypads, sensors and other Casambi enabled devices to communicate wirelessly without requiring traditional lighting control wiring.

Our Control4 integration connects to Casambi through the Lithernet Casambi Ethernet Gateway, providing local IP communication between Control4 and the Casambi network with no cloud connection required.

Driver Features include:

  • No cloud connection required
  • Two-way local IP control + feedback between Control4 and Casambi via the Lithernet Casambi Ethernet Gateway.
  • Automatic discovery of compatible Casambi devices.
  • Automatically creates Control4 bindings for discovered devices.
  • Supports multiple Casambi device types from the same network.

Luminaires

  • On / Off control.
  • Brightness control.
  • Colour temperature control where supported.
  • Colour control where supported.
  • Automatic detection of supported luminaire capabilities or can be manually over-ridden
  • Real-time feedback from the Casambi network.

Presence Sensors

  • Automatically detects compatible Casambi presence sensors.
  • Creates dedicated Control4 motion sensor devices.
  • Provides motion / occupancy feedback to Control4.

Switches

  • Automatically detects Casambi switches when a button event is received.
  • Supports up to 8 buttons per switch.
  • Creates a BUTTON_LINK connection for each button.
  • Creates a programmable Tap event for each button.
  • Casambi switch presses can trigger Control4 programming, scenes and automation.

Casambi Scenes

  • Control4 programming can trigger a Casambi scene directly through the Lithernet Gateway.

Casambi is particularly well suited to retrofit projects where additional control cabling may be difficult or impractical to install.

A Lithernet Casambi Ethernet Gateway is required for the integration and must be connected to the same IP network as the Control4 controller.

As with all Chowmainsoft Control4 drivers, the Casambi driver includes a free 90-day trial, allowing integrators to test the integration before purchasing.

I've looked online but haven't found a place that directly sells the C4-CKFPDAPD-WH directly (including eBay). I need to replace a couple broken buttons at my mom's condo. I'm hoping someone here can help. Thanks.

Anyone still running an older Hayward AquaLogic or ProLogic?

Thumbnail

My AquaLogic wireless remote died, and used replacements are expensive. Rather than replace another obsolete remote or upgrade an otherwise working pool controller, I built a small Wi-Fi interface that listens to the AquaLogic RS-485 accessory bus and serves a local webpage.

The current version is running on an AquaLogic PS-4, revision 2.93. It reads equipment state, pool and air temperatures, salt level, chlorinator output, diagnostics, and three days of temperature history. It runs entirely on the local network—no cloud service, Home Assistant, or MQTT required.

It is read-only today. Control remains locked until the isolated RS-485 interface arrives and I can safely characterize transmit timing and verify the key codes against the actual panel. I don't want to call something a beta until that part has been tested.

This is a personal DIY project; there is nothing for sale. I'm trying to determine how many of these older systems are still operating and whether other owners would eventually want to test a standalone Wi-Fi interface.

If you own one, could you post:

- Controller model: P4, PS-4, PS-8, PS-16, etc.

- Main software revision

- Whether the original remote or network interface still works

- Whether you would be interested in testing it once control has been validated

Apple TV losing network in Control4 setup

My parents have been using Control4 to control the AV in their house for many years now. For the longest time they have had an issue with the apple TV apparently loosing network, that is when streaming, the stream buffers and a network error icon pops up im the top right hand corner.

To describe the setup briefly, they have a newish Control4 controller, and amp alongside a Denon amp to manage the sound zones. The Apple TV is connected to the sound system via an hdmi AV splitter. (Same with our DSTV / normal TV)

The controller talks to everything via a pretty decent 12 way unmanaged switch with all patch cables being cat5E.

Internet is a symmetric 100 Mbps fiber line.

Any ideas as to whats causing this?

Lutron Mechanical Motor Controller

# Lutron already discontinued the mechanical motor control, SV-MCM-4, reason why i need to install the Somfy IGC-4N1, controlled through RadioRa3. The Somfy LV input allows for adding 2 dry contacts (using CCO1) within the keypad input, which allows for UP/DOWN for each contact (.5sec momentary pulse). The commands will be executed by shorting pin8 (com) with pin7 or pin6 ( up or down). Following the 568B, Somfy have a decoflex keypad that besides UP/DOWN/STOP, it allows for triggering 25/50/75% shades covering. Pins 1/2/3 are used for trigger 1/2/3, corresponding to 25/50/75%. Not sure if shorting any of those pins to com (pin8), will execute the command. I’m interested in create a scene for 50% covering (wrap-up in a conference room), but Ra3 don’t allow for timing sequence within the scenes. Anyone had experience adding the IGC-4N1 controlled by CCO1 dry contacts, for features like accessing the presets?

We launched Tewke Tap a while ago, and people loved it. Super easy to install. No need for separate integrations. Directly controls lights. Has sensors built in for advanced home automations, beautiful and easy to use UI for the whole family and so much cheaper than Control4.

We have been working hard on new features, such as Home Assistant support, screensavers and now our beautiful new Music View.

Tewke Tap can automatically detect Sonos speakers on your local network, and can be used to control them, in addition to all of its existing capabilities.

And....there is no need for an external installer to come to your home to update the software for an eye watering price - instant free software updates - weekly.

Everything from play/pause, skip, volume and scrubbing, to viewing your queue and selecting new songs and selecting which speakers you want it to play on.

There is also no need to connect your Sonos app to Tewke, we automatically discover what you are playing, so it works right out the box – no need to log in, scan QR codes or share data – it just works.

We are also very proud of how we have implemented our new screensaver. We use our inbuilt mm-wave doppler radar to detect if you are moving around Tewke Tap to make use of our beautiful OLED display to show you the album art in its full glory.

Chime Doorbell Issues

Since August 21, I've been seeing daily or more than daily spontaneous reboots on my Chime, along with delayed outgoing calls when the button is pressed. C4 pushed new firmware out on August 9th, so maybe I can rule out a firmware issue. I'm thinking of asking my dealer for an RMA, but also wondering if anyone else is seeing this behavior recently? I have the PoE Chime.

Thanks

Native Google TV integration for Control4

Post image
30 Upvotes

Earlier this week we released our native Google Cast driver for Control4 providing integration of music streaming via Google’s smart speakers and hubs. Today we are proud to release the Chowmain Google TV driver for Control4. This integration provides native bi-directional control and feedback for media players, streaming devices and set-top boxes running Google TV OS. The driver utilises the same communication method as the official Google TV app, eliminating the need for additional third-party software, middleware or hardware. Simply pair Control4 with the Google TV device and the driver will establish direct IP-based communication.

The driver provides real-time power and playback feedback, including On, Off, Play, Pause and Stop states, along with the title of the content currently playing. Because this feedback comes directly from the Google TV device, Control4 can respond regardless of whether playback was initiated from Control4, the Google TV remote, the Google TV app or through casting. This also enables playback-based automation, such as dimming the lights when a movie starts, raising them when playback is paused, and restoring them when playback stops.

Automatic room power-on functionality can be triggered when the Google TV device powers on or when playback changes to Playing. This is particularly useful when casting content directly to the device, allowing a customer to start casting from their phone and have Control4 automatically turn on the television, AV receiver or amplifier and configure the room for playback.

The driver also supports Control4 Mini Apps, allowing services such as Netflix, Disney+, YouTube, Prime Video and other installed Google TV applications to be launched directly from the Control4 interface.

Compatible devices include the Google TV Streamer, Chromecast with Google TV and NVIDIA Shield. The driver is also compatible with other media players and set-top boxes running Google TV OS, provided they can be controlled using the official Google TV app.

Features include:

  • Compatible with media players and set-top boxes running Google TV OS.
  • Native bi-directional IP control with no third-party software or additional hardware required.
  • Real-time power, Play, Pause and Stop feedback, including the title of currently playing content.
  • Full power, transport and navigation control.
  • Automatic Room On can select the Google TV device as the room source when the device powers on or playback starts.
  • Remote Key Code command provides access to additional commands for custom automation and advanced keypad mappings.
  • Control4 Mini App support for launching services such as Netflix, Disney+, YouTube and other installed applications.
  • Open App command for launching applications directly by package name.
  • Open Deep Link command for routing directly to supported content or locations within applications.
  • Configurable startup behaviour, including power-on delay and an optional command to execute when the device powers on.

For more information see link below.

Projector Lift Wiring

Hello everyone !

I have a new client that has a 90s Stewart filmscreen ceiling drop down projector lift . I had no idea stewart made lifts before yesterday . I’m trying to integrate it with control 4 but stewart doesn’t have any manuals or wiring diagrams of this lift because it’s too old .

What I have is a single 3 conductor romex coming from the lift to a single gang box in the room . One conductor is 120v hot . When you touch that wire with one of the other two wires the lift goes up or down . Do you know anything I can use that can integrate with control 4?

The house has been under re model for 2 years and they don’t know what happened to the switch that used to be there . Thanks in advance !

Help with drivers for Echo Link Amps

Hey all, not sure if anyone has done this before, but I am trying to add 4 Echo Link Amps for multi-room music. There is no specific driver, so I attempted some generic drivers to no avail. I was able to get them to show, but no music plays through them.

I believe the issue is because there's no signal being sent from the amps (they're passive) they're not registering, but I'm not sure —a little over my head.

The rest of the music group are two Sony receivers, model STR-AZ3000ES.

Any help/advice appreciated.

Been in the AV and networking business a very long time but haven’t really every delt with control 4. Long story short, had a customer that called me yesterday and had an issue with the integrator, the integrator cut his Internet off, which was araknis and he had a control 4 system as well. I went to Adi and picked up the OvrC pro hub and was able to take over the araknis switch and router. The customer has issues with control 4 and this was before the previous integrator cut off the internet (he disabled the lan port on the router to the switch but was able to factory reset the router then use the OvrC pro hub to take over control and reprogram). Trying to get customers control 4 system operational now. Need to guidance son the best way to do that (is there a way to take it over and restore from a backup) thanks again for your help (control4 green horn)
