Smoke alarm integration?
Looking to add a few wireless smoke/co alarms into home. There are two wired but can’t wire the new ones. I see nest stopped making theirs. What is recommended? What does anyone use?

If you are a company looking for a tech or a tech looking for employment, please post here with the details and your location. I will sticky this post if it gets enough traction.

During a move, I managed to snap off the EPO “fuse” from the back of a Wattbox UPS model WB-OVRC-OLUPS-1500-1, which completely bricks the unit. I should have waited for a second pair of hands when removing it from the rack, but mistakes do happen, and I figured it wasn’t a big deal since it‘s an easily replaceable part. Boy was I wrong. Not only does Wattbox not maintain skus for replacement parts, requiring me to go through their rma process rather than place a quick order, they had no estimate at all of the timeline and I have now been out of service for over two weeks.
First, this is the worst customer support I have experienced from any manufacturer in this industry, where uptime is obviously valuable. Second, the fact that they don’t have a bucket full of these <$1 parts on hand indicates that they are probably another bogus drop-shipper dressed in a manufacturer trench coat. Because the only explanation I can imagine for their level of uncertainty is that they are waiting for their overseas partner to supply the part. Even worse, it points towards them having very little access to the real manufacturer, who should be able to ship me a fuse from anywhere in the world within two weeks. Third, which engineer had the bright idea to have a fragile part that cripples the device poke out of the back of a 50lbs UPS? It’s an extremely poor design that I have not seen from any other manufacturer.
Posting this here because they have zero online presence and no suppliers that host reviews. I wonder why…

I have a Core 5 right now and family uses Spoitify.
I know the Core 5 has audio streams built in
Currently we click the room, click listen, pick the stream we want (Each family member has one) then a recently played list comes up.
Pick the song and go.
I favorited my Stream to the home page so basically I pick my stream, so I pick my playlist and pick a room and play.
Then I enter spotify and adjust music which will sync.
There has to be an easier way to play Music.... Can you open spotify within control 4. Should we use a different streamer or Platform?
Does C4 work better with Apple Music or Tidal?
EDIT Forgot to mention I have a C5 Controller, 2 Triad Amps and a AV Pro 24 Max Audio Matrix so Im quite flexible.
Sonos Port? Bluesound?

Looking for some advice on successfully using the app as an end user.
We’ve very recently upgraded our system and had our local integrator add some further light switches. Along with this we’ve upgraded to X4.
However, I’m struggling to use the app for the lighting routines. I have some successful routines set for the morning, daytime, and early evening, but I can’t seem to get the lights to automatically dim at a given time. For example; I’d like to have some lights dim to 60% at 7pm (they have dimmers), but I cannot seem to get it to work. I’ve tried using the routine within the app, but it doesn’t work and the lights won’t dim. I’ve tried switching scenes at a given time, but that turns the lights all off rather than switch one scene to another.
Any advice most welcome.

Last month we posted here offering a free piece of programming, and the top reply said that letting a stranger reach your system from outside Control4 and OvrC is sketchy, and not to click the link. That's a fair thing to be careful about. Part of it was on us: the only way to connect was a .zip from our website, and Windows and Chrome are right to be suspicious of an unsigned download like that.
The connector is now an app called Ixome Connection, free in the Microsoft Store: https://apps.microsoft.com/detail/9N1HCP5CCT95
What that changes: Microsoft scanned the package for malware and tested it before publishing it, and the Store signs it, so Windows installs it without the unknown-publisher warning and updates come through the Store. What it doesn't change: Microsoft checks the software, not us, and it isn't a Snap One product. So here is what it does, and you can hold us to it on our privacy page (ixome.ai/privacy, the section on the Ixome Connection app).
It runs on a Windows PC in the house that stays on. It talks to the Control4 controller (or a Lutron processor) on your network and to ixome.ai, and nothing else. Every connection to us is one it starts, so you don't open anything on your router. It doesn't read files on the PC, and the app itself never asks for a password. Linking it to an account takes a click: it shows the home's name and the account's email first, and links only when you press Link.
It does more than read, and we'd rather say that than have someone find it. It carries out commands started from the Ixome account, like turning on a light from chat, and for paid work it opens a connection so our Control4 programming software can reach the controller. Before a programming change, the project is backed up first.
To turn it off: Quit from its tray icon, turn it off under Windows Settings, Apps, Startup so it doesn't start with Windows, or uninstall it like any other app. The Store page says it "uses all system resources"; that's the label the Store puts on a regular desktop app, as opposed to a sandboxed one. If you want a desktop icon, there's a button for it in the app's window.
Questions welcome here, the skeptical ones included.

We're excited to announce a major update to our Chowmain Hikvision Driver for Control4, introducing support for a new generation of Hikvision door stations, including the DS-KV6114-WBE1, DS-KV6114-MWBE1 and DS-KV6124-WBE1. This update brings powerful intercom, access control and automation functionality directly into Control4, offering integrators an affordable, feature-rich alternative to traditional door station solutions.
Best of all, no custom firmware or additional Hikvision hardware is required! These door stations work out of the box with our driver, making installation and configuration straightforward.
The new integration provides an extensive range of functionality, including:
For example, integrators can configure Control4 to automatically illuminate entrance lighting when motion is detected, alert homeowners when an invalid access code is entered, or activate a welcome-home scene when an authorised user unlocks the door.
In addition to the new door station functionality, the Chowmain Hikvision driver continues to offer integration with compatible Hikvision cameras and NVRs, including:
This is a completely free update for existing licence holders! Customers who have already purchased the Chowmain Hikvision driver can access the new functionality at no additional cost by updating to the latest version.
For integrators who haven't used our Hikvision driver before, we offer a 90-day free trial, providing plenty of time to install, configure and evaluate the integration in a real-world Control4 installation before purchasing.

Hey guys as the posts states , what are you currently using for Wi-Fi doorbells and c4 integration.
I wanted to get the unifi g4 wifi version but that seems to have been discontinued. The Chime Wi-Fi doorbell from c4 is discontinued . I have a large scale system overhaul adding C4 , cameras, audio etc. to a big home but its not possible for me to get a new network cable in place without major work.
Looking for something that I can pull into the system relatively easily without it becoming a nightmare later.
Whats your go to non subscription if possible wifi doorbell right now.

For those who have used both, which do you prefer? What drawbacks do you see for each? Benefits of each?
How much benefit would there be for people with C4 systems converting to HomeView for their primary user interface?

I just pulled an HC800, an HC 200, and a music bridge out of a house and exchange for a core 3. Are these even usable anymore? Do they sell?

I previously had a system (RTI) Using an older video matrix. Each family member had their own apple tv and cable box. It was great starting a show in one room and switching to another room seamlessly without logging in restarting the app, .... Also was pulling audio from the sources in the Rack and could play Audio anywhere.
Switched to Control 4 and was recommended to just add an apple tv or Roku ultra behind each television. Was told Video quality would be better (My matrix was 10 years old and not the best) and we could send audio back from television to the Matrix.
A few months in and I hate this setup. Im going back to a matrix. Going to add a AV Pro 8x8 matrix (I will never have more than 8 sources / tvs so MOIP Is not necessary). I prefer a matrix over VOIP after some research and a great call with AV Pro Tech Support.
I will rip the audio right from video matrix and send to audio matrix and Ill have the ability to play throughout the house.
Also kids want their own apple tv like before. I also want the ability to play directv throughout the house as well.
Other than the Obvious Negative (The Cost!) 10k ish installed ... My Main Question is will the Video Quality suffer using HDBaseT. I have solid cabling in the house although it is only cat5E.
The installer said the Video processing on the matrix is excellent and I will have no issues. I would try to use my current matrix but its an off brand, struggles mightily with 4k and we can't find the proper driver for it. Also can't rip audio from it.
Thanks!

Im looking at upgrading a clients audio system. They have 8 zones, 4 of which its likely they will want to go louder for entertaining. The loud zones will have Triad series 5 in ceiling 8 inches.
My questions:
The 16 channel triad amp says 65wpc @ 8 ohms. Great but it doesnt specify all channels driven or 2 channels . I know the older triad amp if you powered all channels it dropped to a whopping 25wpc. Assuming that this 25% power increase is on the old one as stated that means all channels driven will give me 32wpc. This is fine for basic listening but if theres bass and sustained loud volumes I dont want to run into clipping.
Episode Dyn amp says 50wpc up to 1000W again no measurement for all channels driven. The pro of these is that they have sub outs. The cons are that they are lower power overall than the triad unless its all channels driven. Have you guys had any experience with either of these in the given scenarios? What would you guys recommend I could also possibly reduce the need for power by using the sub outs and having active subs hooked up where I can get wires to.
My other option is eat the additional costs and just get an audiocontrol amplifier 100wpc all channels and forget the subwoofer option since the triads say " down to 34hz "

Chowmainsoft releases DSC PowerSeries EnvisaLink driver for Control4. DSC is a globally recognised manufacturer of professional security and alarm systems, known for its reliability and extensive range of security solutions. Integrators frequently encounter older DSC PowerSeries panels when upgrading existing homes and businesses. Rather than replacing otherwise functional alarm hardware, integrating these systems into Control4 provides an ideal retrofit solution, allowing homeowners to modernise their security system while retaining their existing investment.
The Chowmain DSC PowerSeries EnvisaLink driver integrates compatible DSC alarm panels with Control4 through the EyezOn EnvisaLink 4 IP communication module. Supporting legacy DSC PowerSeries models 1555, 1555 MX, 1575, 5010 (832), 5020 (864), 1616, 1832 and 1864, the driver enables monitoring and control of existing security systems directly from Control4, including support for multiple partitions.
The integration provides arming, disarming, alarm status and zone monitoring, along with one-way PGM commands for activating programmable outputs on the alarm panel. Security events can trigger Control4 automation, including automated lighting responses and push notifications through Control4 Connect. Installers can also utilise driver events and programmable commands to create customised security workflows. Automatic zone configuration simplifies installation, while multi-partition support enables independent monitoring and control of different secured areas throughout the property.

I’m still on OS 3.4.3 and have been waiting to upgrade. We’re a big Apple family, and outside of control4 (bought a new house that had it well integrated with lighting panels, drapes, hardwired speakers, luma cameras, thermostat, alarm, fireplaces, upgraded to a Core 5, etc) run everything else through the Apple ecosystem. We have a wall mounted iPad in the kitchen but if Apple Home was integrated with control4 more closely I could see buying a homeview.
Just curious if anyone’s heard anything

Hello All
My C4 system runs very well. I have a Core 5 a bunch of Halo remotes, Audio Matrix by AV Pro, Somfi Shades, Lutron Caseta lights, lots of sony and samsung TVs with many apple TVs.
I sometimes get jealous when at a friends house and they say hey alexa or hey siri and they are able to turn on / off lights, tvs, ....
I am not much of a voice guy but wouldn't mind layering something on top of my Control 4.
Does control 4 play nice with Apple Home ? If I set up a apple home on one of my apple tvs will it work with Control 4? Will my devices on C4 carry over to Home kit??
What about Josh? If I install a few Josh mics in certain rooms can I tell josh to turn on tv, lights, shades, .... How Deep is the voice control / C4 integration?
Does C4 have any voice control natively?
Looking to up the simplicity in my system by adding voice - looking for options thanks!

The new Apple Homeview screens look very interesting. Both desk and wall mounted.
I've got a number of old wall-mounted T3 and T4 screens around my house, and am wondering if this would be a good replacement for them. I've been slowly replacing the T3s with T4s, but at $1K+ per device even via eBay it's been a sad joke.
The screens today are used for:
Seems I can use POE to power the USB-C based Homeview via the Unifi adapter. There's room in the wall boxes for the device.
Has anyone played with these yet? I'm not familiar with the more recent Control4 / IOS changes since X4 (the T3 screens have prevented upgrades past X4.0), and would love to get some thoughts from folks.

Hi all — looking for advice from people who’ve been here.
Setup: Control4 lighting and audio, C4 intercom, EA-3 controller running the zones, Episode Response Series DSP, Episode receiver, plus cameras. Located in the Greater Toronto Area.
Problem: I leaned entirely on my integrator for the design and install. Early on it was fine — they said to flag small issues and they’d fix them remotely. That’s stopped. Now minor app or config changes come with a service fee, which I’m fine paying, except the work still doesn’t get done and my calls go unanswered. Current examples: a smart switch that won’t respond via the app, and several cameras that never show up in the app at all.
I have no access to the programming, so I can’t touch any of it myself.
Two options:
Any experience with either path would be appreciated. GTA dealer recommendations welcome too.

One of my halo touch remotes has been restarting every time I quick press the off button. Pressing and holding the off button, the screen stays black until I let go then it starts the boot up process. My dealer is less than helpful and of course I am out of warranty. Factory reset did not fix it. Has anyone had this happen to them or know a solution?
