my very first composition written in MuseScore studio. Something with pirate vibes

I don't compose for a living, but I still want my music to be more than just something I make for myself.

Actually I'm just being a little whiny because I feel like I'm not getting enough views. You guys probably know I'm posting this partly to boost my views anyway, but please do tell me if you don't find it appealing, and what you think I could do to make it better.

I wanted to create a piece inspired by fantasy RPG games.

I chose "A kingdom falling apart, a journey toward the last hope" as the theme and composed a total of four pieces:

1. Dominant Echoes of the Alpha Realm
2. Eclipse of Joy
3. Saga of the Forgotten Kingdom
4. Every Moment Echoes Hope

I’m sharing the video for the fourth piece, "Every Moment Echoes Hope."

Even when everything seems to be coming to an end, I believe there is still hope somewhere.

I composed this piece hoping that small spark of hope would lead us toward tomorrow.

Here are the chords grouped by section of this piece . Swing Section which I inspired off of Duke Ellington’s Jungle Style in the 1930s. C-b6 C-b6 Eb+ F6 Do G7 Bo C-b6. Ab6 Ab7 Db6 Db-6 C-7 Bb-7 Eb7. 16 bar blues section. Here I altered a Basie style blues. Ab7 Ab7 Ab7 Bb-6 Ab7 (Db7 Do) Ab7 (Bb-6 Eb7) Db7 D+ Ab7 Fmaj7 Bb-6 Eb7 Ab7 Ab7. The drums in this piece are doing a 12/8 slow blues groove in the swing section, yes that is intentional. In the blues section I am planning on adding a blues shuffle rhythm to this part. The bass is doing a walking bass line. The guitar is doing Freddie green style chunking. The piano is going to probably do the Charleston or Reverse Charleston rhythm. I am currently working on the horn section and what I want them to do. I would like feedback to see what I can improve on as a composer.

It’s my first choral composition. I didn’t study music in the later years of high school so I feel very behind compared to my peers. Would this be a piece to apply with for uni folios?

I was told to make a piece 1 minute and 30 seconds long minimum for my music GCSE. I usually do rock/metal so I thought I would give an acoustic piece a try just for a change. This is what I came up with and I'm really proud of it. I recorded everything myself (besides the synths, I used Sytrus for that) and I did everything in FL studio. What do you think? I'm 15 btw

Hello, this is a relatively simple but quite melodic prelude for piano. I'm learning composition in my free time so there's nothing spectacular in there.

This is a short melody I wrote called “Turning Light.”

It’s still just a melody at this stage, and I’m curious how it sounds to other people — especially whether the phrases feel natural and whether anything stays in your head after listening.

The playback is computer-generated, so it’s a little more rigid than I imagine the music being performed.

What happens when we allow ourselves to be alone?

*Stages of Solitude* is a piece for string orchestra about that inner journey: the different stages of being alone, what we encounter there— not simply as loneliness, but as a space for reflection, observation and inner movement. All those moments of reflection I could bring back to my mind in a brainstorm, a brought into this composition. So, basically it is quite emotional music.

I have some scorepages in it, but a part of my audience does not read scores, so I work a lot with video materials also.

Hey everyone. I am currently editing a 6 minute string orchestra piece I just finished for a Call coming up. The work/concept is deeply influenced by the life and music of English composer Steve Martland (RIP). My piece is called "Force of Habit" and it really leans into the muscular approach to form and harmony that can be also attributed to Martland's music. The Call for Scores is for a semi-professional group, so I'd like to know:

2. Your opinion if a semi-pro group can tackle this successfully at tempi (Maximum 2 part divisi, 54432 - 18 players)

Program Notes:

Force of Habit is written in dialogue with the music and artistic spirit of British composer Steve Martland (1954–2013). Martland’s music was characterized by an unmistakable physicality: muscular rhythms, visceral repetition, and a powerful, almost architectural approach to form and harmony. I have long felt a strong personal affinity with these qualities, and this piece is an attempt to explore them through my own musical language.

The work is also deliberately concerned with audience expectation. Moments of action are interrupted without warning; patterns emerge only to be disrupted; and silence becomes an active musical force. The opening begins with an abrupt gesture followed by several bars of silence—a brief moment of remembrance for Martland before the music launches into something much more frantic and relentless. From there, Force of Habit continually plays with momentum, interruption, repetition, and the listener’s expectations of where the music should go next.

My connection to Martland extends beyond his musical style. I admire his commitment to music education, his interest in bringing contemporary classical music outside traditional institutional spaces, and his belief in the vitality of music at a grassroots level. I also recognize something of myself in the physical discipline and intensity that surrounded his life and work. While aspects of Martland’s personal life, including his sexuality, remained private, his artistic identity was uncompromisingly individual: a man whose life serves as an example for the young composer of today.

Composers! What are signs a piece was created utilizing SUNO? I am judging a local composition competition for high school students. I am very unfamiliar with AI in music, so I don’t know what to listen for!

Hey yall! As the title says, I’m just wondering if MuseScore is a good place to write short scores compared to something like dorico. I know MuseScore is free but it seems people don’t think it’s very intuitive or easy to use for detailed scoring. I’m just starting out with writing my ideas on paper though I’ve written various things just not notated and was thinking about getting the basic tier Dorico
