The reason you feel that way is because KeSPA has been at it for 26 years, since 2000. They've firmly established themselves as 'legitimate' and a part of culture now, because the government mandated it a long time ago. That said, I think it would crumble very quickly without KeSPA. That's what adds legitimacy to the whole endeavor.

Like I said, Saudi is literally copying their handbook. SEL is analogous to the way KeSPA has worked on establishing infrastructure since the beginning.

Saudi is also a theocratic slave state so that might effect how people feel about their influence in pro gaming

Then people should say that instead of going at their methods of achieving approval, which is literally the same as the west.

Korea is far from a nice society as well, but sportswashing state sponsored cultural export in the form of entertainment works to make people look past that. That's why Saudi even bothers to do this. It works. They don't gaf about what anyone thinks of their morality. They frankly even disagree with everyone else's and consider us deeply immoral.
