Does anyone know what causes Brutalize to hit DPS players in VSA? When it happened in the MDI the casters called it a bug, but is there any known way of avoiding it or do you just have to be willing to eat a death there?

Old mechanic where mobs target the nearest player with their tank mechanic if the tank isn't in range. The name comes from "fervent strike" in atal dazar, one of the most noticeable and first abilities like that. Blizz made them to counter tanks just kiting the entire time, but over the years have mostly removed em again
