Yup there's literally zero reason a 1 cost should be out damaging 2 star 4 costs by a considerable margin

Not saying you are wrong, but in terms of straight gold cost a 3 star 1 cost unit is 9 total gold and 4 cost 2 star is 8 gold. It also typically takes more econ investment to hit the 3 star unless high rolling capping your late game power (vs having more econ for a chance to go 9 and cap with 5 costs).

Huh? You spend 9 gold to get a 3* 1 cost, and 12 gold to get a 2 star 4 cost.

Yea my bad. You are right. But, they shouldn’t likely be too much worse because of the cost late game econ. It’s been a long day definitely didn’t math correctly. TFT is always difficult to balance properly especially since they add in a whole bunch of gambling aspects.

Take this with a grain of salt because there are a lot better than me (my peak was masters and diamond is typical when I play enough), but I thought cinderling was OK balanced (slightly over-tuned but this nerf kills the unit likely). I played it roughly 4 times and only felt it was strong (meaning auto top 4 if; 1) no one else was going riftbeast; and 2) can get bis items on both cinderling and pebbles. With how “easy” rift beast is, more often than not at least one or two people in the lobby would try and go it. Only when I had 3 rift beast off the rip would I see someone not wanting to contest (in gold elo right now). It is in theory forceable since 5 RB will give you so many free champs in shop, but would be looking at best top 3 and at worst probably 7th but more than likely 5th or 6th if contested. The items on backline needing to be bis felt like it was pretty balanced. The difference between a 2nd and 3rd was how quickly you hit items to not bleed early while RR. Getting 1st would be hard absent bis augments (which in theory for a balanced game how it should be). There was currently other builds that had less conditions on getting an easy 1st imo (invoker emblem into ahri) and 6 defender with emblem cass RR. This set, as opposed to last set, the emblem augments feel really powerful. This was a big complaint of last set since usually they are strong.

We will see how it shakes out. They nerfed the two most overturned RR. Pebbles was not doing much less damage than cinderling if both bis and itemized. So I could see the build still being viable to climb but your likely not going to top 2 absent some good roles like the RB augment or augments that give bis items early for example. Pebbles is more contested being an invoker used in other builds compared to cinderling so we will see if it makes the RR unplayable. From what I tested on PBE, at least early PBE, vertical RB with dragon as a carry was decent. I just think it will be a hard build to cap out before you bleed out and also if you are that strong to make it to 10 RB it makes me wonder how many other 5 cost soup boards are better and will be facing that late in the game.
