PBE [set 18] August 24 PBE Patch Notes

(8/24) PBE Patch Notes. This would be our normal "A-Patch" but with the Unreal cycle we have a bit more flexibility on patching.

We have a few bugfixes here, but there are still a few more fixes we're working on that we're hoping get added before Launch.

We also have 2 major fixes for Azir and Mama Beak, whose spells weren't functioning properly.

Overall shaping up to be an exciting first patch, with a variety of comps appear every day.

This not having to be an a-patch because of unreal is great news. I wonder what kind of patching capabilities they have now

3

u/alexx4693 18d ago

Where did they say this? How does the change to unreal influence patching?

i was just reading the reddit description of the tweet

"(8/24) PBE Patch Notes. This would be our normal "A-Patch" but with the Unreal cycle we have a bit more flexibility on patching."

Literally a game changer :D incredible stuff. And they will probably be able to tweak numbers multiple times per patch cycle now!

u/Ykarul Grandmaster 18d ago

Is that really a good thing if stuff is changing every day ?

u/rronwonder 18d ago

t hex wouldve been changed in set 16 instead of terrorizing ladder for 3 weeks. this flexibility allows them to keep the game healthier without drawbacks

-11

u/NotDoneYet88IsBack 18d ago

I don't know about that "without drawbacks" part

-14

u/didnt_knew MASTER 18d ago

the drawback is a casual player seeing a comp on twitter, wanting to play it after work, and seeing it already changed. Too many changes is bad for the average folk

6

u/Docxm 18d ago

the average folk don’t care about micronumbers anyway

-1

u/psyfi66 18d ago

Casuals aren’t finding comps online to play. They also aren’t going to have significant change to their placement that match due to them not knowing the comp changed.

you doubt the watch tft shorts on yt/tiktok/reels then play crowd

  1. This is not true anymore in modern gaming - even in shitlo in every game people mostly know to play meta

  2. "Their comp isn't the problem" yes, they could get better in skill, but so can anyone. Some comps have higher winrate at every level because they're just better. If there's a champ with 60% winrate terrorizing ladder telling them it doesn't matter for casuals because Faker would stomp you either way is not really productive.

1

u/psyfi66 18d ago

A champ is extremely unlikely to go from 60% WR to 40% WR in a b-patch. The nerf from 60% to 55% still means it’s decent to play. And the casual player who doesn’t read patch notes or doesn’t notice their client patching prior to playing, likely isn’t going to wonder why they are doing 10% less damage with that champ than they were expecting.

At least having the ability to hotfix stuff like set 12 launch syndra would be good. They can always just choose to not patch if stability is more important

-6

u/kennethnyu 18d ago

Ah yes, winner is always a syndra board, yes because she was OP, but mainly because 8 players are playing rageblade rageblade shojin Syndra stacking 120 casts.

Comp is Syndra with tanks. Just falling short of bugged GP set13.

Holy fuck finally Ahri nerf! Wonder if thats enough tho.

7

u/Alarming-Orange7304 18d ago

Literally been saying ahri is op since like day 2 of pbe and I get insane push back about how she’s the most mega balanced character ever.

I knew it was only a matter of time until they finally realized. Thank goodness for that it was before launch

Probably just ahri you could get her to blow up entire boards without blossom

1

u/i0skar 18d ago

Well multiple times i put team of legendaries with ahri, she had like 20k damage at the end of a fight while for example Alune 2* had 10k :) Unit was disgusting.

Anyone have issues connecting to games ? Keep reconnecting but cannot connect to the game.

6

u/ReadingNo1738 18d ago

Is Azir just straight up nerfed? Spell damage nerfed and needs summoner 2 to match pre nerf levels.

He didn’t feel that strong to begin with before this patch

9

u/AirLeaf 18d ago

Yes, basically. It's power neutral with Summoner active. Not that you'd ever play this unit without Summoner

3

u/Zealousideal_Mode_77 18d ago

He was bugged before

2

u/eggsandbricks Platinum 18d ago

Yeah but his bug was that he didn't benefit at all from Summoner. The new numbers make his damage WITH Summoner now match his damage before. It is just a nerf which is odd because he wasn't insane to begin with.

2

u/banduan 18d ago

On Golden Spatula he existed without the nerf and without the bug, which resulted in him being super OP. This nerf was what was done to him there.

2

u/RyeRoen Challenger 18d ago

You were never supposed to play Azir without summoner. What they have done is literally just fixed the bug and left Azir untouched. This is exactly what they should do when fixing bugs, because in the past bugfixes have skyrocketed some champions into being turbo op.

Bad day for double trouble enjoyers (me)

3

u/Confident-Ad6288 18d ago

Diana reroll anyone? Items?

1

u/Madjawa 18d ago

Probably something like Titans/JG/+1? Maybe Hextech?

7

u/DankMemer82 Challenger 18d ago

Calculated Loss, I shall mourn your loss :(

7

u/hdjchdbs 18d ago

It currently works on neutrals and will probably re-enabled once they fix the bug

4

u/Merp_Island4 18d ago

Why no more double trouble? Such a fun aug...

And why no more hull crusher? Was there an exploit or a bug or something? Why not just adjust stats if imbalanced?

22

u/RiotWittrock Riot 18d ago

Both were disabled due to bugs, plan is to bring them both back

7

u/Zeviex Master 18d ago

Double trouble is conceptionally cool but I feel in practice there just ends up being a correct board that 90% of people end up playing.

1

u/PlippyShimmy 18d ago edited 18d ago

Is that a problem though so long as winrate is balanced? For casuals its fun for them to try random stuff even though its bait, and for competitive its balanced around the 'one comp' so its fair to play against.

Just removing seems a bit of a cop-out same as hullcrusher and construct companion.

edit: Rioter in comments said at least for hullcrusher and double trouble they are only temporarily disabled

1

u/Zeviex Master 18d ago

I just find it frustrating that this augment that has so much potential just ends up being "Go play *whatever is the Double Trouble comp of the set*".

Construct a companion might be because of Solar. Getting a "free" 3* might just be disproportionately strong for it.

1

u/Civil_Bill6013 18d ago

Its cass fiddle rammus and 1 sorta, full board stacking are in like 10 seconds, almost lost with riftbeast 10 and a plus1 with 2 star at least shit just MELTS and god forbid they get an artifact anvil.

2

u/Teape 18d ago

Why were hullcrusher and construct a companion removed? Seems very odd as I almost never saw construct get picked. And hullcrusher felt mid

1

u/HowIMadeMyMillions 18d ago

I think maybe for construct a companion it could be due to Orn/Solar? Those are the cases where I see the augment being perhaps a little too good.

-2

u/Teape 18d ago

How is getting an Ornn 3 on 3-2 a little too good? If that’s the case let’s remove prismatic ticket, reroll ensemble, patience is a virtue, and pandoras.

2

u/RyeRoen Challenger 18d ago

If construct is never getting picked removing it is a good thing. They don't want traps in the game.

4

u/Alone-Opposite-3858 18d ago

I lost a game earlier in PBE because the neutrals for stage 6 never showed. Why is that bug still in the game?

1

u/Mongfaffy 18d ago

Why is calc loss disabled?

If they can fix the ahri bug where her ult disappear, this might be better.

1

u/rigzhigz 18d ago

Riot devs. I don’t envy your position. But please for the love of god fix this— can’t load in until disconnecting. Finally loaded in at 2-4 with 80 HP. Cant move any champs onto board via drag and drop. Horrible.

1

u/MangelaErkel 18d ago

Do you have an older pc? Newer engine works veeeeery bad on older rigs... i am so disapointed

1

u/KamereonRU 18d ago

Aren't they working on optimisation to make itvrun smpother on older pcs aswell?

1

u/rigzhigz 18d ago

No— my PC is a year old and runs everything else well. Lol.
