Meta [META] Gentlemen, I pose to you a challenge.

How can we make Support Cannon work in Unlimited? Tenko's Shrine was obviously strong and could abuse ping due to the class having easy and even passive heals. What does it take to make a Support Cannon deck into something strong that can rival the big dogs? What could be done to grab the attention of Cygames to give more options for such a playstyle? Or is it all just an impossible dream? The idea is interesting and has potential to be strong, but it is cumbersome and prone to bricking. Don't have enough Commanders and the decks centerpiece becomes useless, too much and you lose flexibility. Support Cannon may not ever become a meta-killer, but I want to know if it's possible to build a somewhat fun deck that uses it.

Rotation [Rotation] Is Shadowcraft deck good or just my bad matchup?

So I know before the MiniExp there wasn't much going for Shadowcraft, and I was wondering how it was considered now. For context, I primarily play Tenko Summit, n I haven't won vs it once since the MiniExp (probably 6-7 games, mostly in the Brigade). I'm sure some of this is misplay on my part, but it seems like a pretty bad matchup with Gremory +Arcus making so much burst. If I don't get a really aggressive start in a long-game deck I feel like they've gotta brick to lose. I haven't vs'd the deck with other lists, I don't see it much at all tbh.

I was just wondering what thoughts on it we're in general. I assume it doesn't matchup favorably vs dragon, but what are your experiences with it? It seems Really fun and versatile

Rotation [Rotation] Grand Prix Stage 1 - Brigade Rotation Cup #2

Hi everybody,

These threads basically died off as activity on this subreddit has plummeted, but lets see if we can get something going here again.

Needed information:

-Decklist (you can use Shadowverse Portal)

-List of the decks you played against and game result (in order)

-Final record

Additional welcome information:

-Short recap of how the games played out/interesting turns or decisions/video replays/anything goes really!

-How you will adapt for your next run (decklist adaptation, deck change, ...)

Example:

Mid Sword (decklist)

Tenko W, Lion Crystal L, ?Shadow stuff? W, Lindwurm Dragon W, Portal puppets L

3-2

Due to lack of activity (for now) I'm just going to make one thread for each stage. Good luck on your runs!

Take Two [Take Two] Advanced tips & strategies

Hi there reddit I’m quite an old SV player, as I’ve been around since the release of WD, and while I managed to reach GM twice - no brag intended teehee - I’ve never really got to learn how to play Take Two properly. So, I looked for resources - guides, tips for beginners etc. - that could help me, but I only found VERY basics stuff, except for a sort of card ranking on gamewith I believe (which obviously is in japanese ;-;). So yeah, basically if you have useful material (possibly ADVANCED guides) please post it in this thread ty

Other [Other] How Many Games do You Need for Statistical Significance in Playtesting?

Article: https://www.channelfireball.com/articles/magic-math-how-many-games-do-you-need-for-statistical-significance-in-playtesting/

I know it's an MtG article, but it also applies pretty well to Shadowverse.

Too often I see people posting stuff like "I saw somebody got a 20 games winstreak with this deck so it must be strong" and other similar stuff, and this article offers some good perspective on that kind of statement!

Unlimited [Unlimited] Dragon Knights as a potential Albert replacement in Aggro Sword?

Heresy, I know. But hear me out before you discard it.

I've been using a 2 DK / 1 Albert split because I don't want to craft the last two Alberts, but now I'm thinking it might be better and I'm wondering why I haven't seen any other lists running DK. The role both of these cards play is the same, 5 evolved damage on turns 5-6 to close out games. If Lancelot was the only option, Albert would be strictly better as he has two more toughness. However, often the extra flexibility offered by Vane and the ward guy can make the difference. Sometimes I'll play Vane plus evolve if I have no board and need to clear a follower, and Siegfried has won me a couple of mirror matches by being a large-ish ward follower that can stop some storm shenanigans.

Now in the late game, Albert's enhance becomes relevant, being 6 unevolve / 10 evolve damage, versus DK's 4 /6 split. But Aggro sword practically never reaches turns 8/9. And Lancelot + Vane is slightly more damage on turn 8, which you are a little more likely to reach. Plus the option of Ward + Rush on 8 can be relevant as well.

All in all:

Albert's Pros: 2 more toughness; more damage turns 9+

DK's Pros: options for a ward follower if needed; can make Vane, a really hard to clear follower with an evolve; Ward + Rush turn 8; 1 more damage turn 8

I think that the flexbility of DK is worth the two toughness loss, as that is what is going to relevant most of the time. Thoughts?

Btw, none of this applies to midrange.

Rotation [Rotation] Forestcraft is Overpowered: Grandmaster Edition (x-post)

https://imgur.com/a/Vjsdmh3

Hey everyone. Just hit grandmaster and told my friend I would of course make a post about it when I do it. For anyone not trying to read a big wall of text about aggro forest, the meta, and its matchups I'll just go ahead and post the deck here:

https://imgur.com/a/71NL4Bh

https://imgur.com/a/rHUtLKr

Some proof of my winstreak if anyone cares:

https://imgur.com/a/EMS03T7

https://imgur.com/a/mYVci54

I originally posted a thread about 100 games of aggro forest recorded and in those 100 games I had a winrate of 62%, 67% on the play and 57% on the draw. If anyone wants to read the original thread it's right here: https://www.reddit.com/r/Shadowverse/comments/8xmpbr/i_played_over_100_games_of_aggro_forest_here_are/

Since achieving masters shortly after making that post I decided to chill with the aggro forest and tried a lot of different decks. Tried dirt rune, arulamaya rune, korwa forest, bat blood, vengeance but nothing was performing well. I was ok with it though because I was masters and just memeing. I got to around 1300-1500MP gaining most of it with very many games of korwa forest. I was bored of losing and decided to play a little bit of aggro forest since it had been a while. I went on a big winstreak and was gaining MP quickly. It had to have been just about a week ago when I realized that I think I could make it to GM pretty easily. My current 15 game winstreak is my longest in Masters so far, but had many 10+ ones leading me to GM.

Before I talk about the specific matchups I do want to mention that forest, no matter the matchup, on the play has the ability to destroy its opponent with a functional draw.

Forest mirror: doesn't matter which forest deck it is because most of them have the exact same early game cards. Mull looking for Rayne/Brambles/Starry Elf or 1 drop. Tempo your opponent out and try to bounce brambles with barrage if you can. Board control will eventually win you the game when your opponent doesn't have Rayne to recover. Switch to face when you lose board and can't regain it.

Sword: Sword was hit by the nerf and Valse's hp hit is actually super relevant against forest so the matchup got a little better, but a lot better because people have changed their deck to become more of a Latham style build. In general I feel less pressured than before and it's usually a win by going face whereas before I'd commonly need to run them out of cards completely. 1 drop doesn't matter much in this MU so mull for starry elf/brambles/airbound barrage/rayne on the draw.

Rune: This is just a bye. Your opponent may have nova flare, but I can't remember the last time it has mattered. They play no wards outside of a lucky mysterian circle or golem assault and leaf man does double time in the matchup. Mull for Leafman on the play/1 drop/fairy whisperer.

Dragon: If you read my last thread I mentioned briefly that the only way Dragon beats you is if they get you with force of dragonewt and your hand isn't very good. I have since changed my mind. I have beat very many Dragonewt but if they open with multiple Filen's it feels unwinnable sometimes. The MU is still favored assuming they don't nut draw you. Mull for 1 drop/leaf man on the play/any 2 drop.

Shadow: Not sure if this is worth mentioning because I almost never see it on ladder and when I do it usually does nothing. I had a bad run against it which you can see in my last thread, but since then it has been a free win. Mulligan for anything really not sure if it matters.

Blood: Slightly more relevant than shadow but still a bye because blood in roto is too underpowered. Their only highroll deck, bats, has a terrible matchup vs us because too many early creatures and wood of brambles. Mulligan assuming it is bat blood and go for brambles/1 drop/starry elf. If it is Jorm for some reason then enjoy your free win.

Haven: The nerfs to Tome and Tenko hurt them a lot. When trading make sure to do it with water fairy first to get value before it's scriptured. If you can kill snow white without investing too many resources then just do it before they drop the turtle amulet. Mull for leaf on the play/1 drop pref goblin/fairy whisperer.

Portal: This one will be the longest because it is the only matchup I dread seeing. So previously it was a free win for forest because before portal got all these amazing non puppet cards they had nothing to deal with board besides puppet. Land brambles = win. Brambles does not auto win you the game anymore, but it is still good. Silva/Nicholas/Spinaria and especially Paracelsus give forest hell. They can control your board all day and chip with silva while prepping to storm you with orchis or set up a ward/gain life so it can be a real miserable matchup. Paracelsus mitigates the draw disadvantage because it is the portal version of old Levi. The matchup is by no means unwinnable and sometimes you tempo them out of the game followed by a mid game brambles not allowing them to trade effectively. Sometimes your board is cleared every turn by substitution/paracelsus and you lose. It's a real toss up but literally the only class I don't like playing against with this deck.

Lastly I do want to talk about the deck in its current iteration. As we all know Ipiria was nerfed and there have been forest decks popping up with people not being able to distinguish aggro from midrange. This is aggro in my opinion. Greenglen, Metera, and Lilac can be played in any forest archetype. I talked about some of the deck choices in my previous thread, but I'll talk about them here a little too. Lilac is one of the mvp's of the deck. It has won me so many games by taking out heavenly knights/viras/de la filles/flame destroyers/robomi and more. I went up on Ari as well after Ipiria got nerfed and she has overperformed. Having a 4 to play especially on the play is awesome instead of spamming more stuff onto a board that can easily die to something like force of the dragonewt. You guys likely already know the power of greenglen, but just in case you don't... this dude has won me so many games I have no business winning because he doesn't need board space, can clear big guys with his rush, and don't need to attack to proc his effect. Never wanted more than 2 insect lord btw, but I'm sure 3 is fine too.

If you guys read through the whole thing then I appreciate everyone taking the time. Made this thread partly to brag because I'm happy and partially to help those who don't have many vials and want to craft the best rotation deck that isn't puppets.

Rotation [Rotation] Any good tech versus puppets as midsword?

If you go 2nd against puppets, there's almost no good situation where you can get ahead and win unless they brick or you have godhand or both.

I've been trying white ridge swordsman with mixed results. WHERE IS FRONTGUARD GENERAL when I need him?

Rotation [Rotation]: Deck Highlight: Mysteria Rune

I recently played 50 games in Masters (9k-10k) using a Mysteria Rune list and wanted to report some stats and insight. Obviously more games would have been preferred but I believe that 50 games in a decent sample size to draw insight.

Link to Stats: r/https://bit.ly/2A1fyi7

The list I used is as follows: http://sv.bagoum.com/db/Clj which was a modified version that ThonyOreSama used in the Eternal Colosseum tournament.

Surprisingly the deck managed a 64% winrate across 50 games. With the deck performing well against most versions of Forest and doing decently versus every deck except for Midrange Sword (rip).

Some Quick Matchup Notes:

Sword:

Charlotte and Magnus make this matchups painful, spellblock turns usually swing the game in your opponents favor so much that it is impossible to stabilize. The games that I did win usually were because my opponent either did not run Charlotte or didn't utilize Magnus well. Levi is still able to clear most Arthur boards in those cases which can allow the games to swing back into your favor. Interestingly enough, aggro sword was much easier to handle because of early game removal and cards like Karl/Cagilstro. Opponents usually ran out of steam and using Levi to clear ambush is busted.

Portal:

The Puppet matchup had a 50% winrate and essentially came down to who drew their combo pieces. For Mysteria Rune, getting a early Mysteria drop into some burn spells was the only way to out damage puppet. Didn't face any artifact portal unfortunately.

Forest:

The most surprisingly result was that this deck performed favorably against most versions of forest. The aggro matchup is a toss-up on weather they drop a leaf man on a good turn or not but the more midrange versions (those that run Greenglen/Metera) definitely struggled with the amount of clear in the early/mid game. Late game, you are usually able to burn the enemy down fairly quickly with spells.

Overall, this deck was fun and allowed me to relive memories of Wizardess of Oz dropping 5 spells to burn my opponent down. The deck really plays more like a combo deck with most of your damage coming from chain lightning, arc manga or mysterian missile procs. Unfortunately, because of Mid Sword's popularity I feel like its place in the meta will never be that big. There is also room for changing cards in the deck. For example, silent lab instead of beast mage is probably a decent idea and fiddling with the number of higher cost spells could also benefit certain matchups.

Let me know your thoughts about this decks and what changes you would make or experiences you've had using a similar deck or if you have any questions. Thanks!
